LDAP for Virtual Domains
Is anyone using LDAP along with Dovecot where mail is being accessed in the form of /var/vmail/${domain}/${user}? I have not figured out how to extract the domain from LDAP in order to make this work. I know this is sparse information but maybe there is an easy fix. If not, I can post more information. Bryan

Unable to get Dovecot LDA/deliver working
I want to setup Dovecot LDA, but I don't understand what I'm doing anymore. I have to note that I'm a Linux beginner. I've been trying now for several months and I'm about to give up. Till so far I'm having no result. :-( My current setup is done as described at http://www.linuxmail.info. We use Postfix 2.3.3 (with Postgrey, Spamassassin and ClamAV), Dovecot 1.2.11 and

Setup tinc for "Road warrior"?
Hi: I'm having some trouble connecting to the tinc VPN I've setup for my client. Basically I would like to connect to the LAN of my client (as I'm currently thousands of miles away and won't be back for a month and a half) to continue with the development of an in-house ERP. I've setup the router (a Linksys router running the stock firmware) to forward both TCP and UDP

Hi I try to delete the folder ?test" from Thunderbird 31.4.0 (Win), Webmail (Sogo 2.2.16), or Mail 8.2 (Mac Yosemite), but I am not able to delete in this account. Nevertheless I am able to create new folders. These new folders are not deleteable, too. dovecot 2.2.9 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit In /var/log/mail.{err,log} I cannot see any errors. Simple question on server / client
Hello everybody, sorry if my question could offend anybody, is not my intention. Well, I am not a real techie person, but I like to fool around using packages and free software, lately I have been reading on VPNs, and I am working on setting one up at home. I don't know if at this point of time I am biased or what, but I am expecting to see a VPN server and a VPN client, this tinc is a

Oldies but Goldies - Dovecot 1.2 and Sieve
Hi, we still run dovecot 1.2.17 and upgrading is not planed for some time. But I'm asked to install a sieve system to be used with SOGo soon. What do I have to install / configure? Is installing/configuring the dovecot-sieve-0.1.19 and dovecot-managesieve-0.11.13 enough? We still use mostly the default settings for imaps/pop3s. And of course configure SOGo. Thanks for any feedback.

Auto-incrementing column
Ok, I have an table column that needs to auto-increment, but isn''t the primary key (although I guess it could be). The format for the column is "SR001234" and it needs to autoincrement like so: SR001234 SR001235 SR001236 ... SR999999 How can I do this? I know Ruby has some pretty nice constructs for doing things like this, but I just don''t quite see how to put them

Cannot delete folders from Maildir in only one account
Hi Steffen thanks for your reply. I found that permissions of some folders are different than others? After chmod all permissions to the same go= permissions, it works. No matter what happens to generate different permissions for only this one account. Because all other accounts are correct. I will have a look at this from time to time. As soon it not happens agains this thread is solved. On

dovecot-lda delivery to Maildir/cur as 'seen'?
Hi I've added a server-side feature where authenticated customers sending through our SMTP server have their outbound mail copied to their Sent folder (like Gmail does). The delivery script called by qmail calls dovecot-lda to deliver it to the user's Sent folder. The problem now, is that the Sent folder shows the mail as unread, which MUAs flag (and notify, in the case of some).

Using sieve with virtual delivery & maildir
I am using Postfix virtual users/domains with Dovecot virtual delivery to maildir style mailboxes. Now I want to get sieve working to sort out a few minor delivery problems. I want all mail with a message header "Delivered-To: foo+bar at domain.com placed in the /var/mail/vhost/example.com/foo/new directory. Would this work: require "fileinto"; if anyof (header :contains

Disable maildir indexing and dovecot-uidlist on LMTP/LDA delivery
Hello all, Is there a way to use LMTP (or LDA) so that maildir index and dovecot-uidlist are not updated? My setup is such that mail delivery sees user's maildir as write only. This setup works well when using postfix for mail delivery, but when I try to switch to dovecot LMTP the lmtp process wants to read the dovecot-uidlist and fails on insufficient privileges. Is there a way around this
