squat fts not working on 2.1rc1
Hello,
I tried to upgrade from 2.0.15 to 2.1.rc1 over the weekend but ran into
some problems with squat. My two largest mailboxes were corrupted,
producing this error:

slow squat fts index creation
Hi all, ive been playing with squat indexes. Up to about 300.000 emails in a single mailbox this was working flawlessly. The search index file is about 500MB at that time. Ive now added some more emails, and at 450.000 or so emails im seeing a serious problem with squat index creation. It takes...f o r e v e r . The .tmp file is being so slowly, it will probably take 2-3 hours to create. Upto

courier-dovecot-migrate.pl destroyed my indices... still recovering...
I tried to disable courier-pop3 today in favour of dovecot pop3.
Prior to that I ran:
find /home -maxdepth 1 -type d | xargs --replace /usr/local/scripts/courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --overwrite --recursive --convert {}
( /home is hashed two levels deep: /home/a/a/aanton/Maildir/ )
After that, I got lots of errors like:

imap crash with fts squat enabled.
Hi Timo,
Here is the backtrace for your reference. I have already applied
dovecot-97702c9c4111 changes to my 1.1 beta10 code base.
I am running dovecot on FC7, gcc 4.1.2, mailbox is on NFS. Whenever I did

imap crashes.

Hi Timo,
Just tried squat in beta11. I also get the same error in the log:

Squat full text search indexer redesign
I was writing this to beta9 announcement, but it grew so huge that I
guess a separate mail is better. :)
I've spent quite a lot of time this last week redesigning/rewriting
Squat indexer. I think the redesign is good enough now that I'll just
replace the existing squat with this new one in next release. I don't
think many people are using the old squat, and there are also some bugs

Dovecot 2.0.beta5: dovecot-uidlist: Duplicate file entry at line X
Hi,
I'm using dovecot 2.0.beta5 (IMAP and LMTP+sieve) and I'm getting lots
of errors like this:
Warning: /data/mail/4567/Maildir/dovecot-uidlist: Duplicate file entry
at line 3: 1274182284.M635158P16414.mail,S=767,W=785:2,S (uid 5 -> 16)
All data is stored on local disk (ext3, no NFS!). As this is a fresh
installation of dovecot I do not know if older versions work better.

slow incremental indexing of maildirs with squat
Hi!
I'm using Dovecot 2.1.7 on Debian Wheezy 32-bit (package version is
1:2.1.7-7+deb7u1) with maildirs.
My problem is that the incremental indexing of maildirs with squat takes
a very long time... I don't know if it reindexes anything, but it seems
it iterates though all messages on each search query and reads them. It
works fast only on successive queries within several minutes,

some questions about log errors
Hello,
I migrated from the release target to the CVS target a few nights back,
as I only use Maildir, and wanted look for improvements.. I am getting
these errors in the maillog, and they keep coming up. I can delete the
indexes, but wonder if it should be updateable by the mail-index
process first?

Howdy, dovecot-2.0.alpha2 doesn't compile on Mac OS X.
First, trivially, there's a typo in array.h:

beta8: cores on corrupted index file
Timo,
I saw a couple of these cores over the weekend. The syslog says:
May 21 19:04:48 emerald dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error] IMAP(user): Corrupted index cache file /home/students/s/user/.imap/sent-mail-apr-2004/dovecot.index.cache: indexid changed
With a resulting core file from imap at this time. I also discovered
a remaining lock file on the person's imap file:

Incorrect IMAP search results when FTS/Squat indexes are present with 2.1.7
We recently upgraded from Dovecot 1.2.15 (on Debian squeeze) to Dovecot
2.1.7 (on Debian wheezy/stable).
For now, we continue to use FTS with Squat indexes. We'd like to
eventually switch to Lucene but it's not yet supported in Debian stable.
Since upgrading to 2.1.7, we've seen some problems with IMAP search
results when an FTS Squat index is present (i.e., when the

Shared folder (namespace) access hanging
Hi,
I'm using Dovecot 1.0-b8. We use a shared 'support' account for incoming
support mail. For security reasons we want to instead have everyone with their
own account, accessing a shared 'support' folder. So I've configured dovecot
with a public 'Support' namespace:
default_mail_env = maildir:/imap/mailboxes/%u
namespace private {

1.0.1: corrupt index on fresh mailbox, ideas?
A new employee started today, when logging into his new mailbox this
morning during a walk-through I got a nasty server error response in

Checking the server log I see this:

Odd ownership of the dovecot-uidlist file
Hi,
We have just recently switched from Courier to Dovecot for both IMAAP
and POP access for our shared hosting platform, and while the issues we
have been seeing with Courier have gone away a new one has popped up.
Unfortunately googling for an answer is difficult as it falls into the
ownership and permissions category which people seem to have all the
time. But in those cases it always
