Bug#443908: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/bind: [bind] unexpected RCODE (NOTIMP)
Package: logcheck-database Version: 1.2.61 Severity: wishlist File: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/bind After #437891, I got yet another new "unexpected RCODE", this time "NOTIMP". As I was starting to get pissed off, I copied the whole list out of lib/dns/result.c, in an attempt to put an end to my headache. If you insist on using an enumeration instead of ".*",

DNS help: "unexpected rcode (SERVFAIL)"??
Recently I'm getting these errors on my slave when adding new domains: Sep 26 13:48:27 hosting named[1668]: zone wholesaletvtime.com/IN: refresh: unexpected rcode (SERVFAIL) from master 207.218.174.4#53 The master/slave transfers work for the other 1000+ domains that I have, just not the handful of new ones that I just added after the CentOS 4.3 -> 4.4 upgrade. problems with .forward
My old Centos 5.5 servers had a /root/.forward to send things like logwatch to this email account. It did not take any special configuration in sendmail for this to work. Now Centos 6.3 is using postfix (as we well know, and generally I am happy for this) and I have set up the /root/.forward as always, but it seems like postfix is ignoring it. I have restarted postfix with no difference in

Bug#437891: logcheck-database: addition to ignore rule for bind's RCODE
Package: logcheck-database Version: 1.2.54 Severity: wishlist In addition to seeing warnings from bind about REFUSED and SERVFAIL unexpected RCODE, I'm also getting from "15" in my logs as well, from various unrelated hosts. This doesn't occur nearly as frequently as the other two, but still enough to be annoying. May I suggest inserting "(REFUSED|SERVFAIL|15)" in

Samba AD not resolving external names
I have just set up a new AD and am having a little success with it, but DNS resolution is a little slow. I'm looking into why that is and tried an ns lookup for google.com and got the answer SERVFAIL on my AD server. The query was then passed to my next nameserver (google's own dns), which handled the query. Is this correct behaviour? I've not seen SERVFAIL before itadmin at

No Domain Controller, Please help to interpret tcpdump
Greetings! I am still struggling with the issue that after vampiring from NT4 domain to Samba 3.0.7 with ldap backend, Windows XP cannot find the domain controller. In particular, WXP is an XP Prof which signed in AB_INITIO_DOM domain. After the migration I put the Samba Server (Priscilla) and WXP in an isolated network, and started up Priscilla as PDC for the network. But WXP

Very slow wbinfo -u
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I have set up Samba-3.0.11 to retrive account information from W2k server via winbind, and it works. But is takes about 10 sec. to retrive the information. I have dumped some traffic from the request, and it looks like this: A lot of these: 21:21:55.133423 172.20.3.131.1077 > 172.20.3.130.137: NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; UNICAST

Could not resolve host: mirror.centos.org
There seems to be a problem with my local dns server resolving mirror.centos.org. I know something about dns but obviously not enough to figure out what might be wrong here or how to fix this in bind configs. The SERVFAIL errors below seem to be related to AAAA and MX queries for the domain. Please advise. TIA. # host mirror.centos.org 8.8.8.8 Using domain server: Name: 8.8.8.8 Address:

SERVFAIL <=> NXDOMAIN
Hello, we encountered a problem with registry nic.at for tld .at and their transaction "BillWithDraw". This transaction allows an registrar to delegate authority back to registry. For a successful use of this transaction all nameserver-entries for the zone will be deleted by our application before nic-order will be sent to nic.at. Nic.at now checks all nameserver for existing

Combining Sweave and fancyvrb
I find Sweave very useful and I was trying to combine it with the latex package fancyvrb. I was trying to get line numbering and labels in order to reference the lines where particular commands occur. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. Maybe somebody can help me. The following is a sample Rnw file: the first part shows what I would like to get, the second what I

Natulius CD burner does not accept my 700Mb CD-R disks
When I try to burn anything to cd, I get a message to insert a CD large enough for my file (normally an ISO image). Doesn't matter if the iso image is a 600Mb Centos ISO or a 48Mb DSL ISO. Same warning. My CD-Rs are Memorex 700MB/80min 52x disks that work just fine on XP systems. So what am I missing configuration-wise?

New DNS server up and running
A new and improved instance of onlo.htt-consult.com is up and providing DNS service. It is my 1st Centos 6.3 production box. This is Phase I which included IPv6 working 'right'. Phase II will be to sign my zone and get fully with DNSSEC. I want to thank people here in answering my questions. Now on to other projects. I have a couple dozen to tackle.
