How To Record Sound Being Played
Hey all,
I've installed MuseScore on my C6.6 machine. MuseScore is able to
generate a midi sounding playback through the speakers of the active
score. I want to capture that sound directly to a file without using a
microphone. I want to send individual sound files to each of the
members of my quartet with their part only.
Does anyone know how I can capture sound directly to a file? Is

Does anyone know of a CD ripper that will work with CentOS 8? I've
found a great many that will work CentOS 6 and 7 but nothing that will

KVM Mail List?
Hey All,
Is there a mail list dedicated to KVM questions? If there is I would
like to avoid polluting this mail list with a bunch of KVM performance
questions that should be posted elsewhere.

RPM Transaction Failure
Hey Y'all,
I have a yum update failure that remains consistent and repeatable.
This is what happens every time I try to update the java package.
This a new computer with a fresh network install of CentOS 6.10.
How can I fix this?

Hey All,
Is there someone here on the list that has experience building RPM
install files? I've never done it before. I'm looking for someone
who is willing to do a little hand holding.
I just built Musescore from source. I hope to build an install RPM
from the resulting files.

Hey Bax,
Thank you for the help.
I've got a 32 bit system so this is the path I needed. If you have a 64

CentOS 8 Gstreamer and Mplayer
Hey Y'all,
What replaced Gstreamer and Mplayer in CentOS 8. RPM finder finds both
for CentOS 6 and 7 but not 8. There must be a replacement for them but
I don't know what.
I appear to be having codec issues but, not knowing what's supposed to
handle the jobs that the two programs used to do, I don't know where to
look for a commercial set of codecs compatible with the

I see a package "x246-0.120-5.20120303.el6 (i686)" available in my

I've searched through.
Can anyone point me to a link where I can download that package to my
local repo?

Rhythmbox Replacement
Hey Y'all,
I though I would resurrect a long dead mail chain.
I'm looking for a good replacement for Rhythmbox. I need a pod catcher
to catch podcasts and download them to my HD where I can then move them
onto my mp3 player that I take to work every day.
I don't need a new mp3 player so don't suggest VLC. It is not able to
download podcasts.

CentOS 8 kernel-4.18.0-193 shim issue
Hey All,
Is it safe to allow the 193 series kernel update now? Last time I tried
that my system refused to boot. I had to roll back to the 4.18.0-147
kernel to get my machine to reboot.
Since that happened I've been watching this mail list for
acknowledgement that the problem has been corrected while refusing the
kernel update. I may have missed the announcement that the issue was
