tinc running openwrt (mikrotik metarouter mips)
You can find tinc package in openwrt repo and install it with opkg or luci.
I suggest you first run couple of tinc nodes on x86, just to understand how it works.

Forget about tinc. I won't work until you solve issue with your kernel.

But didn't one of your earlier mails say that tun did not appear in your
lsmod output?
If the module is there but not loaded, why don't you just "insmod" it?
I am confused.
Sorry, I can't help further. I have told

Old tinc version, switch mode not working
I have been using tinc in routed mode for many years. However, I tried today
to use tinc in switch mode and it doesn't seem to be working.
The problem is that my router is running a very old version of tinc! I am
wondering if anyone remembers whether a bug like this was fixed...
I have set up two nodes, running tinc, in switch mode. One is running an up
to date version of tinc (from

Two nodes with same key?
I am wondering if tinc breaks if two hosts have the same key? I am
guessing it probably does!
I have a hub-and-spoke arrangement, with VPN clients who all know the
DNS name and the public key for the hub. I need to transition the hub
to another server, with another IP address. I will, after testing,
transition the DNS name to point to the new server.
It would be convenient if I didn't

Ah. I had assumed that some sort of internal UID was used to identify
nodes.
Does tinc break if the two ends of the connection disagree about the
name? For example if my old hub was called

IPV6
I have been using tinc for an IP V4 VPN for many years. I am about to start
looking at IP V6.
All the examples I have found use switch mode. I really don't want to use
switch mode -- this is a wide-area network, plus it will include several
different networks and I want to be able to put in place firewall rules
between some of them. I plan a star topology, with a central routing (and

By the way, 3.3.8 seems very old for an OpenWrt kernel. The router I am
running tinc on has 3.8.10 and is several years old. I built that image
myself but it was based on Barrier Breaker r36499.
You may want to find a more recent build -- for example a

Securing tinc config files
I cannot use dynamic dns , the remote sites connect through 4G LTE and get
assigned "Private Addresses" that are NATd to a Public Address. The LTE
clients can only make connections outward to the Internet and features such
as PAT and Dynamic DNS will not work. Therfor for these remote sites I need
a Central Server Located on Internet to peer with in order for the Site to

tinc running openwrt (mikrotik metarouter mips)
Hi Maxim
The reason I have two kernel is as follows.
When I did fresh install of openwrt , i tried "opkg install tinc" . It then
said "dependency required , kernel (= 3.3.8-1-" as I was on 2.6.31. I then
downloaded 3.3.8-1 and did opkg install kernel. And this is how I have
both...I think i just need to get a better image to start off with...Ill
search and get back to you.

Signal tinc under Windows
Hello,
I am new to tinc and I have read in the docs that one can "signal" tinc with
various options. How to achieve this under Windows?
Any assistance/pointers appreciated.
Apologies, my original post was mailed from another account, hence it was
rejected.
Thanks

TAP unistall issue Windows XP
Hello,
I've been experimenting with tinc to get to know it and I got to point where
the tinc service wouldn't start anymore.
Starting with debug options gave me a ".. not a usable Windows TAP Device..

After a lengthy period of digging, I discovered that my registry was
littered with connection bindings for all the previous install/uninstall's

tinc running openwrt (mikrotik metarouter mips)
Hi Graham
Regarding the tun lib , see mine.
root at OpenWrt:~# /lib/modules/3.3.8/tun.ko
And like i mention to Maxim , i have tinc running in a Linux Debian
environment with 4 nodes successfully. I am experimenting now in openwrt
due to the "light weight" environment.
