ggplot2 customizing a plot
Dear all,
I want some help improve my ggplot as following:
Make the plottable area with grid, so is easy one to see where each box refers to x and y values.
Add a color bar but with fixed values, that I want to specify.
How I can do those two?
Before is some code what I have tried so far.

Problem with script
Hello :-) I am trying to run the next script, it generates "random
areas" inside a map of the american continent,
and then plot it, it?s suppose that every frame gives you the evolution
of the program but at some point it stops
with the weirdest of the errors I?ve ever seen in R, I don?t even have a
line like that :-|

scatterplot3d - help assign colors based on multiple conditions
Hi
I am relatively new to R and am trying to figure out to plot 3d scatter plot using defined colors based on x-axis and y-axis values. Right now in the code below, I assign colors based on certain values in the names of the x-axis. Now if I want to extend the condition to assign a color based on the names of both x-axis and y-axis values, what should I be doing? Any help or ideas would be

Convert variable to STring
Dear all,
I have a variable that I would like also to use it as a string. The reasons is that I want to collect results from different function to one table.. So when I use the

ggplot2: changing axis labels in ggplot()
Hi all,
For various reasons, I need to use ggplot instead of qplot for a complex
figure. Everything is working fine, except I cannot figure out how to rename
the axis labels in ggplot. I have pasted a simple example below. Any ideas
on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks for your help.

Patch for legend.position={left,top,bottom} in ggplot2
Hi Hadley and everyone,
here's a patch for ggplot2 that fixes the behavior of
opts(legend.position={left,top,bottom}). If you try the following code
in an unmodified ggplot2
options(warn = -1)
suppressPackageStartupMessages(library("ggplot2"))
data <- data.frame(
x = c(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6),
y = c(2, 3, 4, 3, 4, 5),
colour = c(TRUE, TRUE, TRUE, FALSE, FALSE, FALSE))

How to produce rainfall maps
Dear R users,
I need to produce rainfall maps using R.
I know that this is possible, I looked though the web, I found the example below reported (the author is Andrew Tredennick).
I would ask you if this is the most performing way to make rainfall maps; if yes would someone be able to give me an example of how file.asc and pointfile.csv should be? If no would somebody please show me another way

How do I plot a line followed by two forecast points?
Good day all,
I'm trying to plot a continuous line plot, which is followed by two
forecast points eg. one forecast point is 12 months out, and another
24 months out from the last date of the line plot.
In my attempts so far, the second plot (the forecast points) is scaled
against a new axis scale, thus the two plots are not directly
comparable (I need the forecast points to be scaled

scatterplot3d with categorical data
Dear users,
I'm trying to produce a 3d bar plot but the x and y dimensions have categorical
data -- so I only want 3 points on each axis. So I try:
require(scatterplot3d)
mymat<-data.frame(
x=c(1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3),
y=c(1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3),
z=c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9))
scatterplot3d(mymat,
type="h", lwd=5, pch=" ",
xlab="xlabel",

How to produce rainfall maps
Hi,
You might get more help from the R-sig-geo list, which is devoted to
spatial topics.
However.
The *.asc file is an ArcGIS raster export format. You should use
whatever the appropriate import commands are for your own gridded
rainfall data. If you have a different format, you might or might not
be able to import it directly with raster.
?raster will tell you more about the kinds of formats

plot(hist.default(1:10,plot=F)) error.
Hi!
How to find out which plot function is used when i call

The reason why I would like to know it is that after loading some self written R functions

Trouble with line of best fit
I don't usually do much with graphs in R, and this is my first time adding a
line of best fit. Hopefully this is an easy problem to solve.
I'm looking at a variable called soloKills along the range 5:28. Here are
all my commands, in script form:
range=5:28
graph=soloKills

low level plotting question on R
Dear List,
I am trying to modify the xlab and ylab for a current figure that was
plotted by a package, I searched through the low level plotting command and
they do not seem to contain how to do this (the only way is to use xlab,
ylab as arguments in "plot" command, which I can not do since the plot is
plotted using some other package, not by my own script). Is there any
command for

Filling in a Zero Matrix
Hi
I am very new to R and statistical programming in general. I am trying to reorder data from a .csv file. I have managed to import the data and create a zero matrix. I am now trying to fill the matrix. There seems to be some problem with this section of my code. I have highlighted the dodgy code in red. Please help if possible.
