panel ordering in nlme and augPred plots
Hi,
I'm new at this, I'm very confused, and I think I'm missing something
important here. In our pet example we have this:
> fm <- lme(Orthodont)
> plot(Orthodont)
> plot(augPred(fm, level = 0:1))
which gives us a trellis plot with the females above the males,
starting with "F03", "F04", "F11", "F06", etc. I thought the point of

Confidence Intervals for Random Effect BLUP's
I want to compute confidence intervals for the random effect estimates
for each subject. From checking on postings, this is what I cobbled
together using Orthodont data.frame as an example. There was some
discussion of how to properly access lmer slots and bVar, but I'm not
sure I understood. Is the approach shown below correct?

Problem with pairs() in nlme
Dear r-helpers,
After successfully running
require(nlme)
vfr.lmL <- lmList(
estimate ~ (slant + respType + visField + hand)^2 | subject, vfr
)
pairs(vfr.lmL, id = 0.01, adj = -0.5) # Pinheiro & Bates (p. 141)
produces the following error:
Error in sprintf(gettext(fmt, domain = domain), ...) :
object "form" not found
Any guesses as to what I may have done wrong?

loops
I've been struggling to get a loop to work. I want to create a new
variable in each loop with data from some function.
for example:
# part of the names for the variables to be created
Frags <- c("F04", "F05", "F07", "F09", "F11", "F13", "F14", "F17", "F18",

[LLVMdev] LLVM as compiler course infrastructure - thanks!
Charles Fischer and I, at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, have
adapted our CS department's graduate compilers course to use LLVM. We've
found it quite commodious, and a vast improvement on the system we'd
been using previously.
So, first of all, to the LLVM devs - thanks many times over for making
LLVM as good as it is. I admit that I haven't seen many, but LLVM is

Hello R Community,
I've been run the following codes. However, I've been getting an
unusual segfault

decipher the "caught segfault"
Thanks for you attention.

Windows 7 guest not starting with HyperV features enabled
Hi,
I have a Windows 7 SP1 Pro 64-bit VM which works fine on libvirt 2.3.0
and Qemu 2.7.0.
If I enable HyperV features
(https://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsFeatures) like "relaxed",
"spinlocks" etc - VM doesn't boot. "Starting Windows" text appears for
~2 seconds (no flying dots, no logo) and then it just goes to black
screen. If I switch HyperV

how to combine data of several csv-files
Hello,
I'm looking for a solution for the following problem:
1) I have a folder with several csv files; each contains a set of
measurement values
2) The measurements of each file belong to a position in a two
dimensional matrix (lets say "B02.csv" belongs to position 2,2
3) The size of the matrix is fix
4) I cannot assure to have a csv file for each position
5) Each position

[LLVMdev] gfortran link failure in current llvm svn
Chris and Bill,
I have tested the proposed patch from...
http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvmdev/2008-August/016490.html
under i686-apple-darwin9 and it solves the problems building gfortran
from llvm svn. The resulting compiler works fine so can we get that
patch in before 2.4 is release?

[LLVMdev] The use iterator not working...
Thanks Dan and Jon. I made an incorrect assumption that the "use" iterator
was actually giving me the "user" when de-referencing it.
Did it always have this behavior in previous LLVM versions? I've seen lots
of examples of the "use" iterator being dereferenced and resulting
Instruction pointer being treated as the "user"?
Thanks,
Zack

FC : A MLIR+LLVM based Fortran front end
Neat, another fortran compiler option.
Does anyone have a list/comparison of all the LLVM fortran compilers? I'm
not really tracking this, since Fortran isn't really my area of expertise,
but I've seen the following. Perhaps there are even more?
"Flang". The original of the name, I think? Abandoned.

samba & winbind with AD 2K auth problem
Hi
I cannot make winbind work correctly. My problem is that my AD users &
groupes are not authenticated on my samba box. I made it work correctly on my
samba 2.2x, an dfrom my understanding, each time a AD user is connected, a Unix
account is created, nad winbind synhronize both accounts.
It looks like the user script "/usr/sbin/useradd -s /bin/false %u" doesn't work,

bayesian mixed logit
Dear all,
I am writing an R code to fit a Bayesian mixed logit (BML) via MCMC / MH algorithms following Train (2009, ch. 12).
Unfortunately, after many draws the covariance matrix of the correlated random parameters tend to become a matrix with almost perfect correlation, so I think there is a bug in the code I wrote but I do not seem to be able to find it.. dull I know.
Has anybody written a
