LAN of XP, w7 and Linux clients under Samba4 DC and s3fs fileserver
Hi
I am testing the possibility of migrating from nfs to cifs to serve our
Linux clients.
Currently we mount the samba shares, e.g. the home directory, using nfs.
The test setup is that instead of:
mount -t nfs hh1:/home2 /home2 -osec=rw,krb5
I changed to:
mount -t cifs

Wrong acl and permissions on cifs mounted share
Hi everyone
I have these shares in smb.conf:
[home2]
path = /home2
read only = No
[home]
path = /home2/home
read only = No
I mount [home] on a Linux client like this:
mount -t cifs //hh1/home2 /home2 -osec=krb5,rw,multiuser
Here is the output of the mount command:
//hh1/home2 on /home2 type cifs

Samba 4 krb5.keytab confusion
Hi
I have Samba 4 installed and working. I recently changed FQDN to dns
name hh3.hh3.site. It works OK and e.g. on a windows 7 box which joined
the domain, users can logon. But I have a mess in the keytab:
klist -k /etc/krb5.keytab
Keytab name: WRFILE:/etc/krb5.keytab

Domain Admin cannot access files
Hi
I just joined a Samba 3.6.3 machine as a file server for a Samba4 domain.
Normal users can login and reach the shares apart from the domain
Administrator.
After Administrator has logged in, any attempt to reach the file server
results in a username and password prompt. Supplying the correct
information still will not allow share access for Administrator.
Using s3fs under Samba4,

Samba4: mounting cifs on Linux client no longer preserves acl's

Hi everyone
Up until recently, mounting a share on a Linux client preserved the
permissions of the files in the share, but now it doesn't.
e.g. on the server

Windows boxes cannot find the file server
Hi
I have a Samba4 AD running samba and a Samba3 machine joined to the
domain as a file server. I have smbd and winbind running on the samba3 box.
Samba4: hh30.hh3.site
Samba3: hh32.hh3.site
I can browse the shares (netlogon and sysvol) on the S4 machine by
typing \\hh30 into explorer but if I type \\hh32 I get:
Windows cannot find '\\hh32'. Check the spelling. . .etc.

Samba4: winbind separator
Hi
When I try and login as a domain user called s3:
su MARINA\\s3
I get:
Kerberos: AS-REQ MARINAs3 at HH3.SITE from ipv4:192.168.1.2:50945 for
krbtgt/HH3.SITE at HH3.SITE
Kerberos: UNKNOWN -- MARINAs3 at HH3.SITE: no such entry found in hdb
Kerberos is not seeing the winbind separator.
So I try winbind separator = +
wbinfo -i s3

Permissions and CIFS
I recently discovered the 2GB file limitation using the smbfs
filesystem and switched to the CIFS filesystem for my Samba mount.
Since the switch I have not been able to get the permissions right
for the mount.
Specifically I am using the following commands in /etc/auto.mnt to
mount the remote share using automount
home2/ -fstype=cifs,uid=500,gid=100,credentials=/home/user/

ddns update fails for reverse zone
Hi everyone.
I have a Linux nsupdate client sending dns update requests via sssd.
Just gone from 4.1.2 to 4.1.3. I've done this:

After which the forward zone update is working fine:

After almost 2 days up-time with Samba 4, it failed again. This time it
simply will not restart.

/etc/krb5.conf

I can't get the s4 fileserver nor uid:gid mappings working with s4. I
used nfs and idmapd instead. It's working, but I've a couple of qns.

I set up the nfs server with GSSAPI as in this screenshot:

Hi,
I have dovecot 2.0.20 running (its an old version, I know, it came from the
