winbind against samba4 AD DC
Hello,
Could you please give me some precision about the current state of the winbind
support on a member server. I have tried to list what I understand about it.
(I suppose that the libnss_winbind symlink are correct in /lib and/or lib64)
* samba4 join as member
join: samba-tool domain join <dnsdomain> MEMBER
smb.conf should contain: idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes

CTDB Question w/ Winbind
Hi Martin
It seems as though, when I go from `clustering = no` to `clustering = yes`,
if I do a domain join, it will fail. However, if I do a `systemctl restart
ctdb` (knowing full well it will fail every time), if after this I add a
sleep(15), then do a domain join, then do a `systemctl restart ctdb`, then
the join will have worked, AND CTDB will start properly. So in a nutshell,
in Ansible,

SAMBA & CTDB Configuration Issue using LDAP as back end.
I have setup a SAMBA 3 cluster (running on SLES-11sp3) with 2 nodes. CTDB
is managing SAMBA, using a floating IP between the two hosts. Everything is
running fine as far as the cluster fail-over, etc. However, the SAMBA
cluster server(s) are supposed to be member servers, connecting to an
existing PDC which is using LDAP as the password backend.
CTDB is inserting the following lines into the

[CTDB] how does LMASTER know where the record is stored?
Greetings list,
I was looking at the wiki "samba and clustering" and a ctdb.pdf, admittedly
both are quite old (2006 or 2007) and I don't know how things change over
years, but I just have two questions about LMASTER:
< this is from pdf >
LMASTER fixed
? LMASTER is based on record key only
? LMASTER knows where the record is stored
? new records are stored on LMASTER

ctdb samba and winbind event problem
Hi to all,
I'm having a CTDB-Cluster with two nodes (both Ubuntu wit
Sernet-packages 4.17.4). Now I want to replace one of the nodes. The
first step was to bring a new node to the CTDB-Cluster. This time a
Debian 11 but with the same sernet-packages (4.17.4). Adding the new
node to /etc/ctdb/nodes at the end of the list. And the virtual IP to
/etc/ctdb/public_addresses, also at the end

ubuntu, ocfs2 with cman and ctdb
hi guys,
we're evaluating the available clustering options to get ctdb up and running
for a highly available file server.
we've set up both gluster and ocfs2 both on seperate 2 node setups.
ocfs2 seems to provide better throughput and iops to samba clients than does
gluster and that is comparing a single node server to a ctdb clustered 2
node server.
problem with ocfs2 is that i've

CTDB potential locking issue
Hi All
I have a newly implemented two node CTDB cluster running on CentOS 7, Samba

The node network is a direct 1Gb link
Storage is Cephfs
ctdb status is OK
It seems to be running well so far but I'm frequently seeing the following

UID syncing issues with CTDB
I have been working on a CTDB cluster on and off for a while now. I had it
working great for a while. THen I decide dthat I wanted to change the
configuration of my replicated volumes. I changed my DRBD configuration to
match my desired configuration. Now I can get the CTDB to work quite right.
I am able to join the cluster to the domain without issues. I can also list
my ad users and groups using

I am setting up ctdb samba, and have hit a brick wall trying to solve the

1. getent does not retrieve the list of domain users or groups (wbinfo
works fine)
I'm not sure what I'm missing but I've almost spent the whole day trying to
resolve this one and haven't made any progress :-(

Office Words 2013 Crash from time to time
Dear All,
I've been upgrade from 3.6.x to 4.1.x (Member server)
All Win 7 Pro 64.
While in 3.6.x there is no such report on the issue, just people complain
about the slowness
While in 4.1.x there are random report on this issue not everyone but more
to a particular person...
That seem to be happening from
4.1.6, 4.1.11 and 4.1.12
And I've really no idea why or how.

cutting corners (4.10.2 on el7.6)
Hi All,
I'm not well versed in the samba code base so I'm asking here.. :)
I only wanted to run a small AD/DC for my SOHO (1 spouse, 3 kids, 1 dog & 1 cat).
I've managed to build 4.10.2 on rhel7.6 with gnutls-3.3.29 and python-2.7.
(this required an updated cmocka, which in turn required an updated cmake)
but...
building without testsuite and without clustering (ctdb) allows

Samba CTDB clustering panic
Hi all,
I'm setting up a clustered environment on CentOS 7.6.1810 with
Samba 4.8.3-6.el7_6 and the corresponding ctdb package. I'm using FreeIPA
4.6.4 as my auth backend.
Currently I'm running into this bug
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13465 however I would assume
that it is fixed in the latest release (dated 29July 2019). It crashed once
