home from SQL
Currently I'm using
user_query = SELECT 1000 AS uid, 1000 AS gid, '/srv/vmail/%2.256Hu/%Lu' AS home, ...
so I'm hashing based on %u (basically). But in my SQL db I have a
"unique_identifier" field, which never changes, even when the user is
changing his/her email address (due to marriage or the like).
What I'd really like to do is to use %u to find the value of the

deploying with capistrano - web site responds much faster
Hi,
just out of curiosity: I have a RoR website, and till now I used to
deploy it by hand. Now I''ve deployed it automatically, and after this
the web site response is much faster. I don''t know if capistrano did
something else too, though the speed of how the site runs has
increased a lot.
there is another thing though: I''m using a shared account on

web content process and sloooww firefox
Today, for the first time, I noticed a process named "Web Content".
I was running top because firefox was once again not allowing me to scroll.
Having been down this road before,
I would normally have just closed and reopened firefox.
I needed to do it fairly often.
Web Content was new.
Eventually, I discovered "electrolysis" (why that name?) and the schedule:

Unexpected behaviour in rms::lrtest
Hello.
One of my teaching assistants was experimenting and encountered
unexpected behaviour with the lrtest function in the rms package. It
appears that when you have a pair of non-nested models that employ an
RCS, the error checking for non-nested models appears not to work.
Here is a reproducible example.

rms::cr.setup and Hmisc::fit.mult.impute
I have fitted a proportional odds model, but would like to compare it to
a continuation ratio model. However, I am unable to fit the CR model
_including_ imputated data.
I guess my troubles start with settuping the data for the CR model.
Any hint is appreciated!

Std. errors of intercept and slope
Dear all,
I have the following output generated by linear regression. Since there is
only one regression intercept and one slope for one set of data, what is the
meaning of std. error for intercept and that of slope? Thanks in advance.
