How to place a call to a Google Talk user?
I am trying to "dial" a GTalk, ie @gmail.com, address. I inscribed this address in jabber.conf on the buddy= line. Upon executing the Dial application, I hear only a brief brief ring, then nothing. What might be the trouble? As the Dial application starts trying, the JABBER chatter on the console includes some "INCOMING" entries that name IP addresses. The one with

[resolved] asterisk 1,4 and google talk
hi, it turns out that the iksemel library (which i installed using an rpm) was returning 0 when the function iks_has_tls() was called. it should return 1 otherwise res_jabber.o thinks gnuTLS is not installed. i confirmed this by running a test program i wrote, that calls iks_has_tls . it returned 0. i downloaded iksemel source, compiled it and now the test program returned 1. now,

hfc-pci/zaphfc: Asterisk hangs with signalling bri_net_ptmp but not with bri_net
Please forgive me, if I misunderstand the problem completely. Following instructions in several german blogs, I want to configure Asterisk with a hfc-pci card, an old NTBA and an ISDN phone as a SIP device. It seems that I have to set signalling in zapata.conf to bri_net_ptmp. When I do this, Asterisk will hang if started with -vvvvc, the last lines of output being: [res_features.so] =>

TE121 - Idle system load at ~0.3 - Bad DAHDI 2.2.0.2 behaviour ?!
Hi Asterisk Users, We've been experiencing some tough time regarding a new Asterisk installation connected to the PSTN via an ISDN PRI with a Digium TE121 with the optional VPMADT032 echo cancellation module. For now, I'll focus on something very specific which is summarized on this email's subject. However, here are some general facts for the context: - System pbxfri went

Outgoing Google Motif Calls connect but continue ringing on outgoing side
I upgraded from Asterisk 10 to 11 and switched from gtalk.conf and jabber.conf to use motif.conf and xmpp.conf. I disabled gtalk and jabber from loading in modules.conf noload => res_jabber.so noload => chan_gtalk.so After copying my settings to the new conf files and restarting Asterisk I had no errors, but making outgoing calls from clients just kept ringing even though the other side

HotPlug, eSATA, and /media
Ok, got a quickie. I have an eSATA drive, a 750GB Seagate in an eSATA external enclosure, and a Silicon Image sil3132 ExpressCard controller for my laptop. The disk and controller work great in CentOS 5 (or F7, for that matter), if I specifically mount it. This is not how I want to have to use this drive, however. I want to hotplug it; that is, plug the controller into the laptop, and then

Jabber/Jingle to Google users via local XMPP server
Hi all, All the examples I've come across seem to suggest configuring jabber.conf/jingle.conf/gtalk.conf for a real Google account. What about the scenario where the Asterisk server should connect to an account on a private Jabber server and using Jingle (voice calling over Jabber)? e.g. for the domain widgets.com: - there is a copy of ejabberd running on the same box as Asterisk, and

Google Voice / Jabber auth problem
asterisk-1.8.13.0 iksemel-1.4 I have a client who setup a gvoice account using their domain in the login name: username=client at theirdomain@gmail.com This appears to have caused a problem with authentication. I've tried escaping the @ and quoting the login string, etc. but it simply won't authenticate. I don't believe my configuration is bad as the same server /

PDC login problem solved
Hi. I've now "solved" the problem. If you remember, I was unable to login from Windows 2000 to a Samba PDC. To "solve" the problem, I changed the computer name in Windows 2000 and then created a new machine account. First, it was "VIRTUAL-TEICH", and now it is "vm-teich". However, this time I created the machine account in samba in all lower case

google voice + asterisk: calls made to GV# processed but weird
Dear all, First off, I am very new to asterisk so forgive me if any of my comments or questions seem trivial. Thanks to [this post](http://blog.polybeacon.com/2010/10/17/asterisk-1-8-and-google-voice/) and [this post](http://www.davidvossel.com/?p=28), I have GV set up on asterisk through jabber.conf and gtalk.conf. I can successfully dial out from asterisk. I'm trying to set up an

Some FreeBSD tips (was: OMNIVS1500XL and FreeBSD)
Hello all, I just wanted to dump some info here for the archives. Here's the original thread for reference: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsuser/2007-March/002403.html Charles Lepple did a tremendous amount of work to get my TrippLite USB working on FreeBSD 6.2. I'm running an svn version (nut-2.1.0-r879) to pick up his changes to tripplite_usb. So far, it is

Dual personality Server (network pass through)
I have 3 nics in a NATed gateway file server. Two nics (eth1, eth2) provide dhcp and nfs services to an internal subnet via a dedicated switch. The other nic (eth0) connects to an external WAN switch to provide net access to the systems in the subnet. --- eth1 WAN switch eth0 --- | SUBNET switch --- eth2 Question: Is it
