Odds Ratio and Logistic Regression
Dear All,
I am learning the ropes about logistic regression in R.
I found some interesting examples
http://bit.ly/Vq4GgX
http://bit.ly/W9fUTg
http://bit.ly/UfK73e
but I am a bit lost.
I have several questions.
1) For instance, what is the difference between
glm.out = glm(response ~ poverty + gender, family=binomial(logit),
data=mydata)
and
glm.out = glm(response ~ poverty * gender,

Calculating odds ratios from logistic GAM model
Dear R-helpers
I have a question related to logistic GAM models. Consider the following
example:
# Load package
library(mgcv)
# Simulation of dataset
n <- 1000
set.seed(0)
age <- rnorm(n, 50, 10)
blood.pressure <- rnorm(n, 120, 15)
cholesterol <- rnorm(n, 200, 25)
sex <- factor(sample(c('female','male'), n,TRUE))

Multiple simplifycfg pass make some loop significantly slower
Hi all,
I am noticing a significant degradation in execution performance in loops
with just one backedge than loops with two backedges. Unifying the
backedges into one will also cause the slowdown.
To replicate this problem, I used the C code in
https://gist.github.com/sklam/11f11a410258ca191e6f263262a4ea65 and checked
against clang-3.8 and clang-4.0 nightly. Depending on where I put the

Odds Ratio from Logistic Model
Hi all.
A simple question.
Is there a function to compute the Odds Ratio and its confidence intervall, from a logistic model (glm(.......,family=binomial....). I've written my own, but certainly someone did a better job.
Thank you in advance,
Stefano

Likelihood ratio test for proportional odds logistic regression
Hi,
I want to do a global likelihood ratio test for the proportional odds
logistic regression model and am unsure how to go about it. I am using
the polr() function in library(MASS).
1. Is the p-value from the likelihood ratio test obtained by
anova(fit1,fit2), where fit1 is the polr model with only the intercept
and fit2 is the full polr model (refer to example below)? So in the
case of the

About error bars on barplots
Hi R users,
I have a question about adding uncertainty bars to stacked bar plots.

I use the code below:

Modality Test
Dear Readers:
I have two issues in nonparametric statistical analysis that i need
help:
First, does R have a package that can implement the multimodality test,
e.g., the Silverman test, DIP test, MAP test or Runt test. I have seen
an earlier thread (sometime in 2003) where someone was trying to write
a code for the Silverman test of multimodality. Is there any other
tests that can enable me to

Dear friends,
I have a csv file entitled ven.csv located in C:\\, this file contains only

lm(ve~ su)
I have obtained the following message:

What package to use to calculate odds ratio and the confidence interval?
Hi list,
I am trying to calculate the sensitivity, specificity, and odds ratio(and
confidence interval).
Say, my data looks like this
42.53, 37.56, 40.51, 32.67, 38.19, 81.74, 41.55, 68.94, 59, 63, 54.13,
48.85, 50.46, 51.78
Is there any packages in R that does this? Espeically the odds ratio
confidence interval.

Difficulty getting standard deviation of ALL odds ratios with glm function, logistic regression, need cov of parameters
I am trying to do logistic regression with a categorical predictor variable
with the glm() function, family=binomial. Using glm() I would like to be
able to calculate the confidence intervals of all three possible odds ratios
for a factor (the factor has three categories). Three categories imply two
columns of 0's and 1's in the design matrix, and two parameter estimates

anyone who has experience with chinese clone cards like zycoo, ctvon, chinaroby, etross, iit, realtone
Hello All,
Anyone who has experience using Digium analog card clones from any of the
following:
1. Zycoo
2. CTVON
3. Chinaroby
4. Etross
5. Immediate IT (IIT)
6. Realtone
and can give review which one is good quality with easy configuration and
error free running. Also since some of these manufacture only analog cards,
does anyone have any experience using these in a single system with digital

Interaction Terms versus Interaction Effects in logistic regression
I would like to know more about the output from the terms option in
predict(), especially for a glm. And especially when there is an
interaction effect being considered.
Here's why I ask. These articles were recently brought to my
attention. They claim that just about everybody who has reported an
interaction coefficient in a logit or probit glm has interpreted it
incorrectly.

Confidence Intervals for Odds Ratios in multivariate logistic regression
Hi all,
I am trying to fit a logistic regression for a bivariate response using five
independent variables in a stepwise procedure. My outputs look okay but does
any one know (or is there any literature on) how the confidence intervals
are calculated for the reported odds ratios..?
Thanks!

E100P for Bandwidth Termination
Hi,
I have a query from a client that can he use the E100P card to terminate
the 2Mbps bandwidth in a linux box, thus reducing the cost of cisco
router ??
The other end is a cisco 2620 router with E1 VWIC-1MFC.
Can anyone explain if its possible with Asterisk and further any
configuration help. Applreciated.
