Need solaris 8 pam.conf for ssh and rexec logins with winbind.
I'm trying to setup samba 3 with winbind to let users login using ssh and rexec while getting account info from windows AD. I have winbind setup ok, getent passwd works fine But I can't login at all as a domain user I made a home dir with 777 perms for testing. I think my pam.conf is wrong. Can someone send me a pam.conf for use with ssh and rexec? I could also use a smb.conf if u think

local yum mirrors and yum.conf.d
if I have a local centos yum mirror, whats the best way of adjusting the yum.repos.d/*.repo files to use this? If I simply edit CentOS-Base.repo there stands a chance that a yum update could conflict with my changes. am I better off creating a 'new' .repo and setting the stock one to 'enable=0' ?

Samba 4 Packaging Issues
Jelmer- Unfortunately not, I am still unable to get the 4.0.3 package to build successfully due to the aforementioned error. I have yet to try a different version as I think this to be a problem with my packaging attempts, not with anything within that version of samba. As I'm new to this, I've been poking around for even just beginner tutorials on the whole 'debianization' of

Replication Error Between Differing Samba Versions During Upgrade
Hello all- At the recommendation of the Catalyst team, instead of trying to get 4.0.6 replicating with 4.0.7, they suggested we try a later version (>=4.5) as those versions are much more recent and may have handled issues older versions just could not. Unfortunately that too did not work. They then suggested that an in-place upgrade, as if there was a bug in our 4.0.6 code that was causing

AD uid/gid attributes
Hey all- I know this kind of post has come up before, but I was unable to get results following previous postings, so if anyone can shed a little light on this, I'd be very grateful: The gist of the situation is this: PDC: Samba4 [4.1.0pre1-GIT-394622e ] Member: Samba3 (being used as a file share server) [3.6.3-2ubuntu2.3] The Samba3 machine is joined to the domain and authenticates

Disabling passdb pam in local.conf
Greetings, I'm trying to create a configuration that leaves every config file deployed by an install process or paket management software untouched. The goal is to put every configuration required into /etc/dovecot/local.conf. I've come quite far, but I fail to disable pam as passdb service in local.conf. What I get if I run doveconf -n is this section: passdb { driver = pam } It is

Samba3 File Server + Winbind -- AD Authentication Flaky/Inconsistent/Unreliable
Hey all, So, there are about a billion guides on the interwebs about how to have a samba3 file share authenticate against a samba4 AD. However, I am having two giant problems: one problem is that my problems are not consistent and the second problem is that it isn't working (presently). Long, sad story in a nut shell: my co-worker and I had spent several hours Monday/Tuesday futzing with

dsdb_access Access check failed on CN=Configuration
Poking around on this further, I believe the LMHOSTS error does not matter. The smb directive "name resolve order" defaults to "lmhosts wins host bcast" -- so I believe the file no found error is just because it's trying lmhosts first, not finding the file and then moving on. Eventually it hits "host" resolution and uses /etc/hosts to resolve the name. Changing

KVM on CentOS 7 - sluggish performance with Win10 Guest
Hey all,  I've been running a Win10 Pro (64bit) guest for some time now.... and originally it was pretty snappy and I had no complaints. Somewhere in about the last 3-6 months I've been noticing sluggish performance -- but not overall. The system is mostly remote so I do a lot of my admin via RDP or the local console with the KVM Manager. I recently did a complete fresh install of

Re: FreeBSD PVHVM call for testing
Hi, After some more testing I thought it would be good to put this into production for my personal server. I''ve used pvhvm_v19 and built it without debugging options and installed it on a FreeBSD 9.1 system. I''ve run into some hiccups with 9.1 user land and a 10-CURRENT kernel, but that''s all solvable[0]. My VPS has some very limited memory (256M), but I''ve

sluggish stream problem - help
Hi Reuben, I think I remember having the same issue when I first used icecast. I think from the best of my memory I swapped from using shout to IceS and this solved the issue. I could be wrong though my memory isn't too good and you may actually be experiencing something totally different than me, however I would say with your bandwidth a 128 stream shouldn't be a problem. Hope this is

Samba Authentication of Local Linux Users
Hi, I'm trying to setup a samba server that will serve linux shares out to users accross the network. I'd like authentication to be done locally, and I want it to authenticate against pam using the already existing local linux user accounts. I am not authenticating domain users, or windows users, and I don't want to use smbpasswd. Is there some way to force samba to
