Cisco QoS Howto
Can anyone point me to some sample Cisco QoS configurations suitable for
IAX2? I've looked through Cisco's site, and get overwhelmed with the level
of documentation (too much of a good thing).
My PSTN gateway and PBX (both *) are connected via 2xT1 (per-packet load
balancing) between a Cisco 7206 and a 3640. When the total bandwidth
pushes much past 50%, I start getting some crazy

OT: Patch to OSS app for CDP without a Cisco switch - TESTERS WANTED
Hey everyone,
I came across a situation where I needed to use CDP to advertise a
voice vlan to Polycom/Cisco (and other CDP capable phones) without a
Cisco switch.
Sure I have Cisco switches in places but I like my Polycoms to work
out of the box and it isn't always practical to purchase a Cisco
switch for every location.

Affordable KVM over IP switch
Hello,
Are there any KVM over IP switches that are not thousands of dollars?
Ideally a 3-4 port switch for a few hundred seems reasonable to me.

Problem/anomalous behavior with image() function (and ReadImages?)
When an RGB photo is displayed using R's image() function with
the help of the pixmap (or rimage) package it is common to see
an anomalous white line running across the picture (either
horizontally or vertically). The line can
be removed by simply stretching the image frame a little in the
direction perpendicular to the anomalous line, or by maximizing the
image frame (tested under Fedora 10;

[ot]Bridging and Cisco switch
Hi,
I was trying to setup QoS for my network in my machine. It had a
Ethernet interface connected to a cisco switch. I connected one more
interface on to the same switch and setup and bridge, zeroed out both
the interfaces and assigned my old ip to the bridge interface. After
this when I pinged outside, all the lights in my switch started blinking
fast. I immediately pulled the network cable

FX Dialing Odd
Here's a possible bug, or more likely, I'm just missing something.
We have a pots card in one of our asterisk boxes. Its a simple asterisk
setup with one FXO/FXS card and basic static extensions file, etc. When
we dial out over the pots line, 4 out of 5 times, it will work. However,
every 4 or 5 times, we get an error back from the provider that says
"The number you have dialed.....

Interconnecting Cisco 1760 routers with Asterisk
Good day everyone.
I have Cisco 1760 routers that do site to site voip. Each router has 2 fxs
ports that connect to the local pbx and use sip to connect to other routers
over the WAN. I am thinking of putting in an asterisk box at the hub site
for interconnectivity with our global office voip provider. This provider
runs asterisk.
Question is - can Cisco 1760 routers make/receive calls to/fro

CCITT A-Law to Speex conversion
Hello group,
I'm not sure this is the right place to ask a user-question instead of a
dev-question - if not, a pointer in the proper direction would be
appreciated.
My issue is that I want to automatically (in a nightly batch job)
convert a large number of voice recordings from A-Law WAV to Speex, in
order to reduce storage and bandwidth demands for tranferring the files
over our LAN. In my

Mabe OT? What managed switch is best for VoIP application?
My Trendnet 26 port managed switch gave up on me so I'm shopping for a
new switch. I learned the hard way NOT to trust marketing material from
anyone so now I'm asking the list: what am I looking for in a managed,
VoIP switch?
P.S: For those that don't understand WHY I can't trust marketing
material, let me tell you something about the Trendnet switch that's

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in diferent VLANs (with 802.1x)
Hello to all
I would like to know If some of you have already configured an Cisco IP
Phone (7940 or 7960) to work in a different VLAN than the PC that is
connected through the phone switch?
I know that this can be done with the Skinny firmware, but I dont if it
works with the SIP firmware.
The Cisco technical staff told me that these phones dont support 802.1x
but can work as pass-through.

[LLVMdev] questions
Sorry I got really overwhelmed by so many classes and member
functions in LLVM. So would you please clarify some problems
I have?
1. If I see this instruction in the function.
%S.i = alloca %struct.SimpleStruct
Suppose SimpleStruct is as following:
struct.SimpleStruct = type { int, double }
When I read the instruction, how can I know the type of
simplstruct, should I use 'getType'

D-LINK PoE switch, does it work with cisco or do I need to do the cable trick?
As an alternative to the "expensive" PoE switches out there, I found the
D-Link Web Smart DES-1316 switch for just around $400. Now, the issue
is, it does 802.3af power and, as I've found out through previous
discussions, this original 76?0 series phones (the non G variety) do not
use 802.3af. So I'm assuming I just need to use the special cable thing

OT dovecot w/postfix, mysql , postfix does unnecessary lookups

I'm curious if anyone else sees the behaviour of
postfix continuing looking up users after it clearly have got its answer

synaptics problem
Hi,
I've recently installed FreeBSD 6.3, and I've got a problem with
synaptics.
I've installed it, followed the pkg-message :
hw.psm.synaptics_support=1
It works, dmesg gives :
psm0: <PS/2 Mouse> irq 12 on atkbdc0
psm0: [GIANT-LOCKED]
psm0: model Synaptics Touchpad, device ID 0
moused_enable="NO"
ps shows me that moused doesn't run.

What does this warning message (from optim function) mean?
Hi R users,
I am trying to use the optim function to maximize a likelihood funciton, and
I got the following warning messages.
Could anyone explain to me what messege 31 means exactly? Is it a cause for
concern?
Since the value of convergence turns out to be zero, it means that the
converging is successful, right?
So can I assume that the parameter estimates generated thereafter are

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in different VLANs(with802.1x)
Switch is only tagging the vlan packets. Once the PC loads the vlan
aware driver ("client") it will be able to read tagged packet for the
vlan which PC has been configured to use. Nothing to be done on the
switch.

na.omit - Is it working properly?
I have a work around for this, but can someone explain why the first example does not work properly? I believed it worked in the previous version of R, by selecting just the rows=200525 and omitting the na's. I just upgraded to 2.13. I am also concern with the row numbers being different in the selections, should I be worried? FYI, I just selected the first few rows for demonstration, please

CentOS 5 dual head doesn't work
I just bit the bullet and installed CentOS 5 on my work desktop, and
although I have two monitors and a card that supports them, I cannot
get the display configuration to work with both as a continuous
(spanning) desktop. I have tried using the correct (autodetected)
monitor type (digital and analog), a generic LCD with 1280x1024,
nothing works. Every time I set the configuration, the X server
