splitting a paragraph into words and spaces
I''m using this:
<% words = article.content.split(/ /) %>
<%= words[0..20] %>
to (ostensibly) split a paragraph into component words, with spaces in
between, then print to html only the first 20 items, words and spaces. I
got this (split(/ /)) from the online pickaxe book at
http://rubycentral.com/book/ref_c_string.html#String.split . The problem
is, the resulting array

[Flac-users] How to make paragraph seperations in the Tag Config. > Comments field?
Hello, all,
I'm a newby to FLAC who is used to making .txt source files for his SHN
discs. :)
I made my first secure EAC > WAV> FAC file days ago and am trying to get
proper "source file" info figured out..
First question; how do you make paragraph seperations in the Tag Config.
> Comments field?
Better yet, can someone provide me with a < 1MB FLAC file sample

Numbered paragraph, unnumbered, numbered-- oops!
Entering a comment in WordPress, one of my users stumbled upon an
interesting problem with PHP Markdown:
1. You write a numbered paragraph.
You write a second, unnumbered paragraph to elaborate.
1. You another numbered paragraph, and the numbering resets to 1,
even if you number the paragraph 2.
I understand what's going on here, with PHP Markdown interpreting
each of the two numbers as

unwanted paragraph (syntax edge-case)
Hi list!
Take this markdown input:
* asdf
* asdf
* asdf
asdf
What I want:
<ul>
<li>asdf
<ul>
<li>asdf</li>
<li>asdf</li>
</ul>
<p>asdf</p></li>
</ul>
But markdown puts the first asdf into a paragraph. There is nothing I can do

Correct behaviour of block elements without leading line break before paragraph
Hi
I hope I haven't missed anything which answers this question on the
syntax page, but what is the correct behaviour of the following
markdown
random text
heading
==
random text
# heading
random text
+ list 1
(note there is not space before the '+')
The following page treats the headings differently to the start of the
list http://old-wp.slekx.com/the-markdown-tutorial/

emacs: reformat \items paragraph in .Rd
(emacs newb here)
After having made some changes in an \items paragraph of \arguments
the lines are no longer nicely wrapped. I was looking for a command to
reindent/rewrap/reformat the whole \items paragraph but couldn't find
anything.
The only way, I found, was to go to the end of the first line, do
'c-j' (or RET) which wraps *this* line nicely, but now there is a
hard line-break

Paragraph tags around <div> blocks
For those of you who are expert you may chuckle over this.
Perhaps if it's in the record, however, it may help someone else.
I was getting cases of
<div id="content">
standing on a line by itself, getting converted to this:
<p><div id="content"></p>
Yes, the line above and below are blank.
Yes the div tag is starting at the first column

Convert line breaks to paragraph tags
Hi All!
I have a small problem with a data conversion that I am doing from WordPress
to a custom app that I am building in rails. In WordPress, line breaks were
handled in the PHP code and converted to <p></p>. What I am wondering is,
how can I add in the paragraph tags around lines of text (e.g. <p>some text
that is line 1</p><p>some text that is line 2</p>

[v2v PATCH] docs: remove paragraph about VMware tools on Windows
Starting from libguestfs/virt-v2v 1.39.12, virt-v2v attempts to
uninstall the VMware tools from Windows guests, so there is no need to
remove them manually before the conversion.
Thanks to: Ming Xie.

Bug#677614: xcp-xapi: someone should create /etc/default/xen
Package: xcp-xapi
Version: 1.3.2-6
Severity: important
Looks like on Wheezy, /etc/default/xen is not created by xen-utils-common. Since xcp-xapi depends on its existence and further declaration of the toolstack in it, it should take extra care to ensure that it is present.
root at debian:~# aptitude install xcp-xapi
The following NEW packages will be installed:

Bug#790642: blktap-utils: Incomplete/stub-only manpages
Package: blktap-utils
Version: 2.0.90-3
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
Man pages for blktap-utils are effectively stubs, with no useful
content whatsoever. It would have been better to just leave them out (even
if lintian and/or ftpmaster would have complained)
Will try to follow up with newly-created manpages.
Thanks

blktap-dev does not pull in uuid-dev which results in the following

Installing uuid-dev fixes the problem, but it seems that blktap-dev

disappearing paragraphs in html rendering of text from Rd macros
Recent changes in R-devel seem to change the HTML rendering of text returned by Rd macros,
in that now empty lines do not cause paragraphs to end (the empty lines are kept but <p> tags are not set).
As a result, multiple paragraphs are output as a single one.
A complete example Rd file is at: https://github.com/GeoBosh/reprexes/blob/master/disappearingParagraphs/a.Rd

buggy HTML from nested lists w/ paragraphs
I ran into a weird problem while writing my own little guide to
Markdown (using Markdown, of course). The document is mostly made of
list items in nested ul's. As I neared the end, I found (via
MarsEdit's preview) that in place of two sections of content,
Markdown had begun to generate gibberish strings like this:

Displaying line breaks & paragraphs using 'simple_format' ?
Hi there,
I need to:
1. STORE a text of the below format in a (MySQL) database (using a
''textarea''), and then
2. RETRIEVE & DISPLAY it in exactly the same format (meaning: keeping
all paragraphs/line breaks).
The intended text format looks like this:
***
Blah blahblah blah blah blahblah blah blah
blahblah blah blah blahblah blah, blah
blahblah. <- NEW
