dovecot vs. mutt: no full index sync on Maildir new/ mtime change
Hi, everyone!
This is a follow-up to "Looks like a bug to me: Dovecot ignores
Maildir/new timestamp" from Fredrik Roubert on 01.12.2015:
https://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2015-December/102585.html
I've run into the same problem as Fredrik: When manipulating my Maildir
locally with mutt, deleting a message from new/ doesn't cause a full
update of the index. Therefore, IMAP

debian unstable : mutt polling imap mailboxes
Package: dovecot
Version: 0.99.10.4-2
I am accessing my IMAP folder on my ~/Maildir using mutt via Dovecot and
I have this problem whereby mutt incorrectly reports I have new mail in a
"mailboxes" polled mailbox.
This happens all the time when I press the key bound to change mailbox.
I use courier IMAP at school, and I have not experienced this problem. A
bug with dovecot or mutt?

Option to not update Atime on filesystems not mounted noatime
Hi
I have a single filesystem i don't mount noatime because mutt would work
very good otherwise.
Today, in a discussion about mkisofs, i learned that Linux since 2.6.8
supports "O_NOATIME" as an option to open. (see "man 2 open")
So how comes that rsync doesn't do that and/or there is no option to
switch on that behaviour?

Keyword Flags
I mostly use Mutt to read mail but today I fired up Thunderbird.
I have a shell script that looks for new mail, which looks for files
in cur/ and new/ ending with the server hostname or a comma.
When I fired up TB it seems that all new mail has been given a flag of
,a which I gather means it matches a keyword.
My questions are:
How did this happen?
Did TB do something strange to my mail when

I am sorry, I couldn't understand the Mutt part. Does that mean you've
been using Mutt? :-)
How good is it?

[OT] Fetchmail and Mutt help
Hi All,
I setup Fetchmail and wanted to use Mutt to read e-mail. I used to use
Pine and I just am sick of GUI e-mail clients these days. Bloat,
complication and unreliable. Pine was my first ever e-mail client. I
prefer to use POP still as I want may mail on my machine at all times.
I can go into mutt and execute: 'fetchmail -v' and watch it bring down
my e-mail.
But in mutt i dont see

hangs on dovecot test77, mutt
Hi
My toy mail server runs dovecot. My client is mutt, which I use normally
use a a remote screen session. I normally connect to imap locally:
account-hook imap://localhost/ 'set tunnel="/usr/local/bin/imap-local"'
After a long frustration from the new mail notification in 0.99, I have
decided to bite the bullet and try the -test series. Ever since I have
not had stable mutt

mutt execution by daemon
I have a user w/o a shell that runs an app as a daemon that needs to use
mutt to email an attachment from a script.
During testing when the app was ran as root everything worked:) Now that
we obviously are running as a user w/o a shell this little bit broke. I
used mutt as I needed to send the attachment as mime, and the ability
to specify a muttrc from the cli when executed was useful so we

Problems with listescape and mutt
Hello,
we are using Dovecot 1.2.6 with activated listescape-Plugin.
Mutt mutt seems to have a problem with listescape (or my configuration
[1] is screwed).
When I log in with mutt over imap an press "c", I see al the folders,
.Trash, .Drafts etc.
But when I try to change to .Drafts (for example), mutt gives me the
error the he can't find the folder "\2eDrafts".

I have a Problem with mutt, and copying mails to a new folder.
If I copy to a non existing folder, and try to logout, dovecot doesnt

Reading Mutt mboxes from Thunderbird
Hi, I'm a user of Mutt, and before moving to Thunderbird I'm trying to
share mboxes between them. To do this, I installed Dovecot to create an
IMAP server in my local machine, to serve mutt mboxes to be read by
Thunderbird.
So far, I can read my inbox from /var/mail/%u, but in mutt, I have many
folders in ~/mail, like 2010-mails, 2011-mails, mailing-list-x,
mailing-list-y, and so on. How

newbie: problem with IMAPS + mutt + Thunderbird
Hi,
I'm a Dovecot newbie and have some problems with the configuration/the
resulting interoperability. My setup looks like this:
I receive my mail using qmail-ldap and sort it with a number of means
into
~/Mailbox/ (= INBOX) and
~/Mail/folder/ for various values of 'folder' (generally one folder
per mailing list).
The sorting is done via .qmail-* files, LDAP entries, and

Why does dovecot confuse mutt?
Heylas,
I just switched my primary mail server from courier imap to dovecot (I've been waiting to do this; dovecot showed up in debian testing for alpha, at last). So, using the same set of maildirs, there are slightly different behaviors.
First, of course, dovecot displays the hierarchy as I thought it ought to be, such that INBOX is a sibling of all other top-level boxes, not the parent

dovecot (mutt?) tells me I have new email (when I don't)
Hi,
does anyone else, whilst using mutt, have the problem where you read
your new email - then change to another mailbox, *then* mutt tells you
that you have new email in the mailbox you just read!?
It seems to only happen when I:
a) receive email in, say, =mi
b) change to, and read email in =mi
c) hit 'c' to change to next-unread mailbox
d) mutt says "New mail in
