FreeBSD 9 and PERC H200
I got a Dell T110-II server on 2013-July-19. It has two 1Tbyte drives
that the PERC H200 controls, RAID 1. I tried to install
FreeBSD-9.1-RELEASE from a DVD from FreebsdMall. The autopart segfaulted,
evidently because it could not find any disks. I think there is a PR
about the segfaulting (bad bug, no messages).
I worked around the problem by going to the loader prompt when the initial

Combining Overlapping Data
I've scoured the archives but have found no concrete answer to my question.
Problem: Two data sets
1st data set(x) = 20,000 rows
2nd data set(y) = 5,000 rows
Both have the same column names, the column of interest to me is a variable
called strain.
For example, a strain named "Chab1405" appears in x 150 times and in y 25
times...
strain "Chab1999" only appears 200

CentOS 7 and Glassfish 2.1.1
Hello.
I have a server with CentOS 7 installed, on this server I installed Java
1.7 (java version "1.7.0_80") and Glassfish 2.1.1. The last few days
I've ran into a problem: Glassfish process got killed twice and I don't
have a clue why is getting terminated, I know that sometimes processes
get killed if RAM is not enough; however on this server I have 62GB of
RAM and 10GB

question on scalability
Hello All,
We have a Linux cluster application that uses openssh as its inter-node
communication mechanism and we've recently run into a problem that points
to a potential scalability issue in openssh code.
Our client nodes systematically open ssh connections to the server node to
execute an administrative command. When establishing socket connections,
the server side sometimes fails to

database node / possible SYN flooding on port 3306
Hi folks,
I have here a database node running
# rpm -qa | grep mysql-server
mysql55-mysql-server-5.5.52-1.el6.x86_64
on
# virt-what
vmware
that seems to have a connection problem:

listen backlog patch
Hello Icecast-dev,
I am new to this list.
I am working for the NPO, the Dutch Public Broadcasting agency.
We do a lot of icecast streaming. We run at least 20 icecast server
instances on our media streaming cluster.
We ran into an issue that clients which where connecting to our streams
seemed to be 'hanging' on the connection setup frequently. The client
'thinks' it is

R socket communication
Hello, I tried to code a R socket server but I did not succeed.
The problem is that once the R socket server is created,
I call the readLines function and then R gets blocked.
The client seems to work fine since I tested it with a PERL server.
I tried many combination of params in the socketConnection but
none of them worked.
I have seen some examples where the server sends something to a
client

Unlist alternatives?
dfhfsdhf at ghghgr.com
I ran a simple lme model:
modelrandom=lmer(y~ (1|Test) + (1|strain), data=tempsub)
Extracted the BLUPs:
blups=ranef(modelrandom)[1]
Even wrote myself a nice .csv file....:
write.csv(ranef(modelrandom)[1],paste(x,"BLUPs.CSV"))
This all works great. I end up with a .csv file with the names of my strains
in the first column and the BLUP in the second

samba4 ldap high load and port queue overflow
Hi all.
I have samba 4.2.3 on freebsd 10.1 server. There are three DC and about
350 PC on domain. DCs have 3 CPU and 3GB RAM. Some servers with services
like apache, exim, dovecot, etc use samba4 ldap (port 389) for user
authentication. Some times ago after adding some services to use ldap I
found, that samba4 cannot serve all ldap requests. Every 10-30 minutes I
see in DCs logs:

Improving packets/sec and data rate - v1.0.24
Hi,
We've been running tinc for a while now but, have started hitting a
bottleneck where the number of packets/sec able to be processed by our
Tinc nodes is maxing out around 4,000 packets/sec.
Right now, we are using the default cipher and digest settings (so,
blowfish and sha1). I've been testing using aes-256-cbc for the cipher
and seeing ~5% increases across the board. Each Tinc node

about imap-login: Error and imap: Error after Version-UP
You need to configure stats service client limit and imap service client limit. Those are different services than imap-login service.

SYN Attacks - how i cant stop it
Hi,
I got this error when i tried to type for some of those.
"sysctl: unknown oid...." any idea..
my server seems to be very lagged, where else
the network connection seems fine, i think BSD
itself as my other redhat box is fine.
What else can i do to get optimum protection.
Thanks.

load testing and tuning a 4GB RAM server
Hello everyone,
First of all, great job on the 4.8-R. We have been a long standing user of
FreeBSD and are very happy with everything.
Now my question. I am trying to stress test a new Dell PowerEdge server
and find the limits of its hardware and my tuning. Here are the server
stats:
* 2x Xeon 2.8 with SMP compiled, hyperthreading NOT compiled in kernel
* 4 GB of RAM, 8 GB of swap on Raid 1
