path.diagram in SEM--display covariances without variances
Forgive me if I'm posting to the wrong place....It's my first time posting. Here's the situation: I'm using the sem package and making path diagrams using path.diagrams. Suppose I have the following code: #install.packages("ggm") require(ggm) cor = rcorr(7) nm = c("SOF", "IWF", "PWF", "FSC", "FSF", "EF",

FIML with missing data in sem package
Is there a way to use full information maximum likelihood (FIML) to estimate missing data in the sem package? For example, suppose I have a dataset with complete information on X1-X3, but missing data (MAR) on X4. Is there a way to use FIML in this case? I know lavaan and openmx allow you to do it, but I couldn't find anything in the documentation for the sem package. Thanks! -- Dustin Fife

mfrow and centering plots when there's an odd number
Let me start with an example: par(mfrow=c(2,3)) for (i in 1:5){ x = rnorm(100) y = .5*x + rnorm(100, 0, sqrt(1-.5^2)) plot(x,y) } Note that there's five plots and six spaces for those plots via mfrow, leaving one row empty. Is there a way to have the bottom two plots centered? I think it looks weird to have them left-justified. Thanks in advance for the help! -- Dustin Fife PhD

sem package, suppress warnings
Hi, I'm using the sem package under conditions where I know beforehand that several models will be problematic. Because of that, I want to suppress warnings. I've used the following code sem(mod, S = as.matrix(dataset), N = 1000, maxiter = 10000, warn = FALSE) But I still get warnings. I've also tried adding "check.analytic = FALSE, debug = FALSE," and that

setting parameters equal in lm
Forgive me if this is a trivial question, but I couldn't find it an answer in former forums. I'm trying to reproduce some SAS results where they set two parameters equal. For example: y = b1X1 + b2X2 + b1X3 Notice that the variables X1 and X3 both have the same slope and the intercept has been removed. How do I get an estimate of this regression model? I know how to remove the intercept

propensity score matching estimates?
I'm using the "Match" package to do propensity score matching. Here's some example code that shows the problem that I'm having (much of this code is taken from the Match package documentation): *data(lalonde) glm1 <- glm(treat~age + I(age^2) + educ + I(educ^2) + black + hisp + married + nodegr + re74 + I(re74^2) + re75 + I(re75^2) + u74 + u75,

Broken Date Selection Window
Hi, I've been working on getting the application WeatherScope working under Wine. http://sdg.ocs.ou.edu/builds/final/win/WeatherScope/WeatherScope-1.2.1.exe (Free for educational and non-commercial use) With a little help from Rein Klazes, I've gotten the application running. The program is usable, but it has some pretty major warts, at least under Wine 20050310. The biggest one is

computationally singular and lack of variance parameters in SEM
Hi all, I am trying to set up a simple path analysis in the SEM package, but I am having some trouble. I keep getting the following error message or something similar with my model, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong: Error in solve.default(C) : system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number = 2.2449e-20 In addition: Warning message: In sem.default(ram = ram, S = S,

arrows()/log scale/clipping (?) (PR#1039)
arrows() seems to hang when either x or y scale of the plot is logarithmic and the arrows requested go beyond the plot (by more than a certain amount). I didn't go into C code to find it, but here's a function that exercises the bug a bit ... arrow.bug2 <- function(y0=1,y1=10,log="y") { plot(c(0.1,1),c(1,10),log=log) arrows(x0=0.5, y0=y0, x1=0.5,

Adding Two-Headed Arrow in map legend
Hello Jim, Thanks again. I am getting the two-headed arrow but I cannot seem to get the coordinates right for the arrow to appear beneath the map. These coordinates puts the arrow on the left hand side. Thanks again! Adding Two-Headed Arrow in map legend
Hi Milu, My fault here. As I don't have the data to make the map and try out my suggestions I mixed up the x and y coordinates. Try this: par(xpd=TRUE) arrows(-19.75966,53,33.60000,53,code=3) par(xpd=FALSE) Jim On Tue, Apr 12, 2016 at 10:11 PM, Miluji Sb <milujisb at gmail.com> wrote: > Hello Jim, > > Thanks again. arrow egdes and lty
Dear R developers, I want to draw an arrow in a figure with lty=2. The lty argument also affects the edge of the arrow, which is unfortunate. Feature or bug? Is there some way to draw an arrow with intact edge, still with lty=2? Example code: plot(1:10) arrows(4, 5, 6, 7, lty=2) Best wishes, Matthias --

plotting arrows with different colors and varying head size
Dear list, I would like to plot arrows with different colors according to arrow length, and also (if possible) with head size proportional to arrow length. The idea is to make a quiver-like plot of matlab with wind speed data. So far, I´ve been able to use different colors, but I need to find a more efficient way to recode arrow length intervals into colors. On the contrary, I can't define

Adding Two-Headed Arrow in map legend
Hi Milu, There is a two-headed arrow on the image you sent, and it seems to be where you specified. Did you want it beneath the map, as: par(xpd=TRUE) arrows(-22,54.75,-22,74,code=3) par(xpd=FALSE) Jim On Tue, Apr 12, 2016 at 7:58 PM, Miluji Sb <milujisb at gmail.com> wrote: > Dear Jim, > > Thanks again! deleting an arow added to a graphic
I know this has got to be simple, but I have a added an arrow to a graph with: arrows(5,8,8, predict(lmfit,data.frame(x=8)), length=0.1) but its in the wrong position, correcting it and running again adds an new arrow (which is what you would expect) so how do I a) edit the existing arrow, and b) delete it all together As so often seems to be the case, some of the simplist things seem also to

[LLVMdev] Variable declarations vs. definitions
I have yet another question that I believe also stems from deep ignorance of the linkage types. How do you declare a global variable without defining it? The IR ref. clearly indicates that you can do this, but it looks like one of the many "too obvious to mention" things that I struggle with. It's easy with functions, of course: "declare @foo" in the header and

Add an arrow to a plot
Hi I want to plot an x,y plot something like an scatter plot. I always have the same doubt, were is the last point of my file? Imagine it is a time series so I want the last point to indicate with an arrow (but athomatically if posible). Someone knows if it is posible? Could it be posible to add additional arrows (with a small square with text?) I hope you can comprehead me? I suppose you

Adding Two-Headed Arrow in map legend
Dear Jim, Thanks again! I do want the arrows at the bottom (beneath the map). This is what I am doing: # Draw the map eps_europe <- mapCountryData(n, nameColumnToPlot="eps_score", mapTitle="EPS Score - Europe",colourPalette=colourPalette, catMethod="fixedWidth", missingCountryCol = "white", mapRegion="Europe", addLegend=FALSE) # ISO3 codes on

biplot
I have started using biplot() (with R1.3.0 on Windows) and have become very frustrated. As far as I can see, I follow the directions but either it doesn't do what I want it to do, it gives fairly arcane error messages or both. All I want to do is plot two separate data sets to see how different they are from each other with respect to two metrics that are represented by the two axes. My

arrow plots
Am doing some vector plots with the arrows() function. Works well. But what I need to do is supply an arrow for scaling for the reader. I need to plot an arrow of some known magnitude somewhere on the page (preferably outside the bounds of the plot, so that it can be seen clearly) with some text underneath it that says, for instance, "10 kg-m/sec". Any ideas? Thanks.
