I was hoping that maybe one of you guys could help me out with a problem I'm

Administrativia: Documentation project slightly on hold (sorry!)
Hello security folks
I (not so) recently asked for volunteers to the security documentation
project. I got delightfully large number of volunteers! Thank you!
Right now I have some personal (medical) issues to deal with, and I'll
be out of town for the next 2 weeks. When I get back, we can move ahead
at top speed.
The project will have 3 parts.

[solution] chkrootkit reports infected files
Hey all,
I've submitted a fix for chkrootkit port, to solve the
false positives on FreeBSD 5 and higher:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=55919
The topic, btw, should be "Teach security/chkrootkit
about FreeBSD 5", but it's not my first typo today.
Maintainer, please approve.
Authors, please see if you can include the changes.
I also fixed a minor bug in chk_vdir.

happy with the process and the instructions on freebsd-handbook, I think
well documented.
But I would like to understand what is the best practice to update the
ports too as I used the package tools (pkg_add -r) to add few package to
the base install. Keeping in mind my server have disk space constrain

Awfully OT Question.
Please forgive me for this terribly off-topic question but could anyone on this
list point to me the proper direction on info to get the ALSA sound driver to
work under FreeBSD (if that is at all possible!!)? I figured there are many
kernel experts here who would an idea about this.
I looked in the FreeBSD and ALSA sites and there is no mention of each other on
neither.
Again, sorry and
