ver 4.11 to 4.12 changes re: raid, soft/hard links
Hi All, I tried different options with new samba 4.12.1 and 4.12.2 regarding sharing to win clients I have many shares, but problems occur more frequently (share gets unreadable, until smb restart) Using Fedora 32 So I see different behavior when: 1.) share is on software raid mdraid 2.) share destination is on the soft link? (ln -s /data/1-Folder ) 3.) I used "mount --bind"

how to crypt hard linked backups?
Moin, I wrote a backup script, that use rsync and its hardlink features. Now I want to implement a new feature to my script: crypt the backuped files. But I wonder how this can be done? Because rsync check if the source file is different from the target file. But the target file will be allways different if it is crypt; right? Any idea? Thanks -- |Michael Renner E-mail:

Hard & soft phones
Hello All, I'm about 1/2 way through building an * system for home office. I have the server built, * installed, but I'm waiting for a Grandstream phone to arrive to have a reliable client. In the mean time I have a few short questions. 1. I have the X-Pro soft phone client. It's presently configured for FWD. What settings would I need in it to get it to use the * server? I have *

Profiles on quota, hard or soft limit?
[i'm not subscribe to this list, please put me on CC...] I've asked this on samba-it (italian) mailing list, but with no clue. In my installation (debian sarge, samba 3.0.14a, kernel 2.6 and xfs filesystem) i've put roaming profile on quotas, and something i think strange happens. The client say to the user that cannot update the profile, also if it was under the soft (and hard)

One Way Audio from External Sip Soft & Hard Phone
I have a problem with one way audio on Sip and I guess it may be a NAT issue, in the example below 204 is rung by 208 (xlite external) I dial perfectly but when I get to the answering of the Asterisk, I can hear audio from the Asterisk but cannot get audio to the Asterisk, ie If I ring the voice mail , Asterisk answers and then cannot hear my password... I have put the Ports Forward

NFS quota: hard or soft
Yes. I could spend more time testing this myself or examining the code. It looks to me that, with fs quota, dovecot refuses to store a mail (e.g. when the client moves a mail from one IMAP folder to another) if the user is beyond his soft limit. Is this correct/intended? Knowing nothing about the IMAP Quota extension, I would have expected that being in grace was OK. At least, this is what

[PATCH v2] xen: sched: introduce hard and soft affinity in credit 2 scheduler
Modified function runq_candidate in the credit 2 scheduler to have it consider hard and soft affinity when choosing the next vCPU from the run queue to run on the given pCPU. Function now chooses the vCPU with the most credit that has hard affinity and maybe soft affinity for the given pCPU. If it does not have soft affinity and there is another vCPU that prefers to run on the given pCPU, then as

If not, could you pls gimme some pointers to fix this issue? Thanks, Senthil M Please do not print this email unless it is absolutely necessary. The information contained in this electronic message

Multiple errors from rsync - later 'soft' error raised rather than earlier 'hard' error.
Peter, I was about to post the below to the rsync mailing list, but wondered whether your code which captures rsync output may have allowed rsync to continue past what I think would normally be a fatal error? Thanks Rob. P.S. Should I put the final backups of the old pearcey /home back into their correct slots - 5 backups were recycled, but nothing was added to them? The .Snapshots area is

How to get Soft Links to work
I am running Samba on a Solaris 8.x box and my Samba (Win XP) users can't see or make any softlinks work that are on the unix filesystem. I've seen opinions that one needs to set the 's' sticky bit on but that doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

SCRATCH update wrong date, soft links, Debian stable, -L, ...
Hmm, scratch the issue I used touch on the file and now it works (even though it shouldn't have made a difference). In short - maybe its not [purely anyway] rsync related. (From last post) (Though 'newer' and 'stat' had already clearly showed it to be newer, and though I had saved it to be sure it had a recent date - I tried touch anyway. Still - newer said it was newer

Bug Report rsync 2.5.5 --delete and soft links to parent directories causes MAXSYMLINKS error
I have found an unwanted feature of rsync 2.5.5. It has to do with soft links and the --delete option in archive mode. The following shows how to reproduce the error. Provide a soft link that refers to a parent directory. %> /bin/ls -lR /tmp/src /tmp/src: total 16 16 drwxrwxr-x 2 wke sys_admin 239 Sep 17 16:18 dir1/ /tmp/src/dir1: total 32 16 lrwxrwxrwx 1 wke

--copy-links and --hard-links
Hi, I want to use rsync in a may be unusual way: I have a source tree containing lots of symbolic links and I use the option "--copy-links" to get the physical files (the referents of the symlinks) on the target host. As the host uses the synchronized files in a read-only fashion, I also want to get hardlinks for all identical files, to save space. Thus I also use

looking for reference that covers convergence in distribution
I am looking for a good probability book that describes convergence in distribution. I have looked through Introduction to Probability by Charles M. Grinstead, J. Laurie Snell, but I don't find any formal description on convergence in distribution. Could somebody recommend a good book that cover this topic? Thank you!
