fts squat non-english search for 2 words
Hello,
It looks I encoutered a bug or misconfiguration. fts_squat search for subject and body works excellent for English mails. For non-English (in particular, Russian) it works only when query consists of 1 word. Phrases - 2 and more words - always returns nothing. Example: search for "planet" ("???????") returns results, search for "Earth" ("?????") also

stats + fts squat plugins, indexer-worker error on message indexing
On RHEL 6.2 + dovecot 2.1.5 with the stats and fts (squat) plugins enabled and each user having their own uid on the system I get the following error in the logs when the indexer-worker process indexes some messages:

Incorrect IMAP search results when FTS/Squat indexes are present with 2.1.7
We recently upgraded from Dovecot 1.2.15 (on Debian squeeze) to Dovecot
2.1.7 (on Debian wheezy/stable).
For now, we continue to use FTS with Squat indexes. We'd like to
eventually switch to Lucene but it's not yet supported in Debian stable.
Since upgrading to 2.1.7, we've seen some problems with IMAP search
results when an FTS Squat index is present (i.e., when the

doveadm search doesn't update fts
Hello,
Doveadm search is failing to update our Squat indexes. The search itself
works fine but the dovecot.index.search* files remain unchanged. I
tried:
doveadm search -u test mailbox INBOX body sometext
doveadm search -u test mailbox INBOX text sometext
I also tried the exact syntax Timo expressed in an earlier post:
doveadm search -A body asdf
If I run the same search through IMAP, the

autocreate plugin fails to subscribe mailbox in public namespace
Hi,
I'm one step away from replacing a 7 years old qmail/uw-imapd setup
with some state of the art soft- and hardware. We got migration
scripts and test almost done - just one thing that keeps failing:
The autocreate plugin is supposed to subscribe new users to different
mailboxes, one of them being in namespace "Public." - this
subscription to "Public.announcements"

Upgrade from 1.2.16 with sieve/managesieve to 2.0.8 with pigeonhole
Hi,
I would like to upgrade my server from 1.2.16 with sieve and managesieve
to 2.0.8 with pigeonhole. Will I get all functionality I was having
before? Should this migration be painless or will it require some
additional work?
I've read the Upgrading guide so I know I need to create an additional
user. I've migrated the mails from Maildir to dbox in the past (using

doveadm "-S <socket_path>" option enabled in 2.0.8?
I apologize if this is a stupid question but I just compiled 2.0.8 and am trying to use doveadm to get the quota for a user using the -S <socket_path> option because I have different options for the various local IPs that dovecot listens on.
For example, my default quota is filesystem (NFS rquota) and I can get that by doing:
doveadm quota get -u warden
which tells me:

Performance settings for 500-1000User/per day
hi,
we have 2.0.13 running and most works well, but today we had some minor
problems: The IMAP login process takes sometimes to much time. Over
webmail (Roundcube 0.5.0.3) login wasn't sometimes possible, the normal
clients hasn't any problems, until they login.
We had only ~ 20-30 active accounts, but 50-60 sessions. The most are
Apple products (Ip*/Mac/. ..)because they have 4 sessions

FTS and compound searches
Hello,
New subscriber here. I noticed that the FTS index is not used in compound searches. Is this expected? Tested in 2.0.0 and 2.0.8:
. search BODY "waldo"
* SEARCH
. OK Search completed (0.000 secs).
. SEARCH CHARSET UTF-8 OR SUBJECT "waldo" FROM "waldo"
* SEARCH
. OK Search completed (1.768 secs).
. SEARCH CHARSET UTF-8 OR SUBJECT "waldo" BODY

Dovecot crashing when attempting to search in virtual folder with fts_squat activated
Hi Michael,
thanks for getting back to me. I understand the alternatives to squat
are solr and lucene and have to be explicitly included into dovecot at
compilation. Unfortunately I am not in a position to manually compile
dovecot.
What other option do I have to use full text search in dovecot without
manually compilating my package?
Thanks and cheers

[FTS Xapian] Beta release
Yes, from compiling point of view it is done.
Unfortunately what is not done is all the other work involved, such as fixing all the inevitable bugs it has and maintaining it. We do not want, at this moment, take up maintaining and developing yet another FTS plugin as we have plenty of things to do already.
I invite you to setup your own repository and provide this plugin from there, being the

Which FTS to use!
Hello, i am currently using squat dovecot, but some users that have lots os
emails ( 1GB ) are complaining about speed.
Iam using dovecot 2.0.13 on debian 6
my squat conf is
plugin {
fts = squat
fts_squat = partial=4 full=5

I am thinking in maybe start to use Solr, so any one can help me with an

[BUG] Lucene plugin breaks header substring search
According to the IMAP spec if I do a search for "TO isocpp.org" it
should find all the messages whose To: field contains the string
"isocpp.org", but dovecot is returning me an empty list. However, a
search for "TO tm at isocpp.org" produces a long list of messages. This
behavior is present if I *even load* the lucene fts plugin.
Note that lucene isn't in use

[FTS Xapian] Beta release
Hi
Please find attached the beta release of FTS Xapian, with the objective
to replace fts_squat that is being deprecated.
Configuration is exactly the same as for fts_squat:
plugin {
plugin = fts fts_xapian (...)
fts = xapian
fts_autoindex = yes
fts_enforced = yes
fts_xapian = partial=2 full=20
This is installed on my production server (>120Gb of mailboxes), and I
will observe it

[FTS Xapian] Beta release
The only point here of this fts-xapian is to get rid of solr (because it
is just a nightmare to setup) and squat (because it is considere
obsolete).
I already sent the changed in configure.ac, makefile.am, etc.. in order
to include it in the dovecot, and it compiles properly
The only remaining point is to push it in hte git (yes, everything is
already done)

Separate home and mail folders problem on delivery
Hello,
I am using dovecot 1.2rc series on my mail server combined with postfix
( virtual users with postgre ). I have setup separate home and mail
locations. It works fine ( with sieve etc. ). The user home folders are
in /home/vmail/%d/%n and mailboxes are in /srv/mail/%d/%n . The
permissions are fine and everything is working except in the following
case :

[FTS Xapian] Beta release
You need the fts-xapian.c mostly. All the rest comes from automake (unless you decide to use cmake or something else).
I have attached you a skeleton plugin, which should work against dovecot master.
If you experience problems with the skeleton, let us know.
