Apache and PHP
Sorry for the newbee setup questions, but... Should PHP be already setup with apache on the centos server install?? It's just that I can't get PHP working at all. It's 100% me, I just don't have enough experience. There is already a PHP.ini file, if I add any php modules in apache conf and run httpd -S is says it's already running a php module. I am using vhosts. I did

Directories not writable (Apache/PHP)
Hi, I have a new CentOS sever install. I've also installed suPHP to replicate a live server. When I upload file via FTP the permissions seem OK, however the directories copied are not writable?? Any ideas? I have tried chmod 777 and that's not working either. Could is be a suPHP issue? I have 'suPHP_UserGroup GROUP USER' setup in my virtual directory and the user is also in the

mod_suPHP
I have been trying to get mod_suPHP working on Centos 7's httpd, just as I've done with versions 5 and 6. I found a couple RPMs that others have built, and I even compiled suPHP from source, and got a successful compile. Each time, I can see with phpinfo() that the mod_suPHP module did indeed load, yet I cannot seem to get any script to run in a user other than the default of

Secure shared web hosting using MAC Framework
Hi all, I am looking at securing a web server using the FreeBSD MAC Framework. To make things clear I will call the hosted users "web users". Those are the issues I am dealing with: ** Network Security ** - Web users shouldn't be able to connect to reserved local ports apart from 25(smtp); 80(http); 443(https) and 3306(MySQL) Solution: run the web server and web users shell in

Update to solaris package creation
Can someone else from the Solaris realm that uses our package system verify that this should be done? samba on NetBSD - some patches
Hi, We (NetBSD) just received a bug report that smbclient's mput command usees find(1) with a non-standard option "-maxdepth". This was replaced with a simple call to ls(1). As I don't know how many of the patches from out Packages Collection were sent to you in the past, I'm simply sending you all our patches - please include any you like in future samba releases! BTW,

makefile and path questions
Hi! This morning, I found a system that was still running an ancient samba. I immediately upgraded it to samba 1.9.18p1 and had the opportunity to fiddle with the make file after not doing this for a couple of months. The default makefile sorts the files like this: BINDIR (/usr/local/samba/bin) smbpasswd smbrun smbclient testparm testprns smbrun smbstatus smbpasswd

PAM fails to change user password
Hi, freebsd-security. I have FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE. When I try to change user's password (via passwd) I recieve the following: passwd: entry inconsistent passwd: pam_chauthtok(): error in service module passwd: in pam_sm_chauthtok(): pw_copy() failed and password stays unchanged. re(4) problems with GA-H77N-WIFI
Hello, I need some advice how to debug this issue ... Recently I got a new mainboard for a router, it's a Gigabyte GA-H77N-WIFI with two onboard re(4) NICs. The problem is that re0 works fine and re1 doesn't: It doesn't receive any packets. Tcpdump displays all outgoing packets, but no incoming ones on re1. Ifconfig shows the link correctly (100 or 1000 Mbit, depending on where I

password file recovery question
I've got a possibly silly question and I believe I have an answer, but I want to see if what I think is the answer is feasible. I've had to rebuild a mail server from scratch, upgrading from 4.6-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE in the process. The other mail server had crashed, with disk errors so sever it wouldn't fsck clean. I was able to get it together enough to pull my configuration files

"mount -u -o ro" problems with 7-stable
Hi, This happened to me repeatedly (but not always), even after updating to the latest RELENG_7 yesterday ... 1. Boot into single user mode 2. fsck / # finishes successful! 3. mount -u / 4. ACPI "blacklist" question
Hello, I have recently updated a machine to 7-stable. ACPI doesn't seem to work correctly on this machine. With earlier versions of FreeBSD (including the latest RELENG_6), I got this line in dmesg: ACPI disabled by blacklist. Contact your BIOS vendor. And everything was fine. The box runs perfectly well with ACPI disabled. (I can't get a BIOS update because the mainboard is too

LevelOne WPC-0301 11g Wireless CardBus
Hello, I bought a LevelOne WPC-0301 11g Wireless CardBus Adapter today. According to the box it is "v6". The ral(4) man- page mentions only v2, but that one is ancient and can't be bought anymore. So, enabling the debug sysctl gives this in dmesg: cardbus0: Expecting link target, got 0x0 cardbus0: <network, ethernet> at device 0.0 (no driver attached) cardbus0: CIS pointer

i915 DRM enabled in X.org log but not in glxinfo
Hi, Just to say that this report may well seem a little sparse, but I really don't know what exactly to look for so if anybody needs extra information just shout and I will get it for you ASAP. When I check the X.org log file, it says direct rendering: enabled on my graphics device (it attaches its i810 driver to the kernel's i915 DRM device). This would appear to me to suggest that

Slow vipw and fast pwd_mkdb
Hello, could somebody to comment PR bin/51148? It is suggestion how to pass a value of cache size to pwd_mkdb when we are doing vipw or such. It can give a greate speed-up when master.passwd is really big (and sometimes it is). Appropriate cache size can make process 10 to 100 or more times faster. I gave the results of measurements in that problem report. Thanks in advance! SY, Alex

stable/9: Force ada1 to UDMA-33
Hello, I've got a (P)ATA disk in a special frame. The disk itself supports UDMA-100 (and has an 80-ribbon cable), but the frame isn't compatible with that. By default, FreeBSD negotiates UDMA-100, and the console starts to fill with ICRC errors. In the past, I used a patch to ata-all.c that enabled the following entry in loader.conf to force the disk to UDMA-33, so it worked fine:
