Choosing nlme or lme4?
Hi List,
I’ m analysing the selectivity of
resting site use by forest carnivores through mixed modelling techniques and I
wonder which will be the best r package to deal with several aspects simultaneously:
- binomial
variable response;
- possible
spatial and/or temporal correlation;
I have tried nlme (lme function) and
lme4 (lmer function) packages, however I realize that the

Generate simulated data respecting some conditions
Hello,
Is it possible to generate simulated data that look like the attached figure?
The curve in the figure can be obtained from this equation respecting some conditions:
if(Temperature > T_min & Temperature < T_max){
a*( Temperature -T_min)*( Temperature -T_max)
} else 0
T_min ~ Uniform(0, 24)
T_max ~ Uniform(25, 45)
-a ~ Gamma(1, 1)
Temperature <- seq(0, 45, by = 1)

survival::predict.coxph
Hi,
if I got it right then the survival-time we expect for a subject is the
integral over the specific survival-function of the subject from 0 to t_max.
If I have a trained cox-model and want to make a prediction of the
survival-time for a new subject I could use
survfit(coxmodel, newdata=newSubject) to estimate a new
survival-function which I have to integrate thereafter.
Actually I thought

Bootstrap a GLM model with Poisson family
Hello!
Anyone can help me to know how to do a bootstrap evaluation analysis
to a GLM with family=Poisson?
I have some R codes but they were coded only for family=binomial...
thanks a lot

Was Re: USB install annoyances, is, OT, hosting providers
I've changed the subject line. It has nothing to do with my question with
my original post, that no one seems to have any answer to, what file
"image# 1" is looking for.
This bloody email has now been blocked *twice*.

help with aggregate(): tables of means for terms in an mlm
I'm trying to extend some work in the car and heplots packages
that requires getting a table of multivariate means for one
(or later, more) terms in an mlm object. I can do this for
concrete examples, using aggregate(), but can't figure out how to
generalize it. I want to return a result that has the factor-level
combinations as rownames, and the means as the body of the table

On ups.status CHRG/DISCHRG Vs battery.charger.status
Hi NUT developers,
part of the 2.7.3 release, we are about to merge the below branch / PR for
the bcmxcp drivers family:
https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/pull/158
https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/tree/pull_158_bcmxcp_rebased
It has introduced the battery.charger.status variable, which is something I
wanted to implement since around 2007.
However, while considering a similar

lme, two random effects, poisson distribution
Hello,
I have a dataset concerning slugs. For each slug, the number of
pumps per one time slot was counted. The number of pumps follows
Bi(30, p) where p is very small, thus could be approximated by
Poisson dist. (# of pumps is very often = 0)
The slugs were observed during 12 time slots which are correlated in
time as AR(1). The time slots are divided into two categories:
Resting time

Multivariate, multilevel regression?
Dear WizaRds,
This is mostly a statistics question, but I'm figuring that R is the right solution (even before I start!)
I have some bio data of heart rate versus time (rats taken from resting to maximal heart rate). I want to regress heart rate on time. The data have been normalized such that resting heart rate is zero at time=0, so that all curves intersect at the origin (and at the origin

Meaning of Battery Resting/PW-MIBs
Hi,
just testing with a HP R1500 XR (answers as Powerware) with SNMP/Serial
Port Card using SNMP I found:
1st: The batt status 1.3.6.1.4.1.534.1.2.5.0 goes away after some time.
Isn't visible in a snmpwalk anymore, seems to be a bug in the card.
2nd: The ups turns into "resting" 48h after battery is full. It turns
off the fan, the batt voltage lowers a little, it seems, avoiding

External harddisk
Since you have taken the disk apart it will now be useless as within the
enclosure there could have been a vacuum or an inert gas.
You will never be able to recover any data on the disk unless you go and pay
for a professional data recovery organisation to read the platters.
The price for a replacement 340GByte USB disk is about $25 which would give
you a better product than your old disk.

dovecot.org broken
The new server should be in its final resting place tomorrow and
hopefully after that everything will work again correctly. I know there
are some problems with missing DNS names at least, but other than that I
think it's working.
I created yesterday scripts that can now build dovecot.org from scratch
in about 15 minutes (using backups of course). The new dovecot.org
server was built using
