Possible improvements/clarifications for R-forge (Was: Re: Using SVN + SSH on windows)
Hi, first, r-forge.r-project.org is filling a need and provides a great service to the community. Please read this thread as sincere feedback for making it even better, not as a complaint. I fully understand that r-forge is ran by limited resources and on a volunteer basis. I'll list some points about r-forge that I think could be improved/clarified. Not expecting anything, just sharing my

Setting up TortoiseSVN and PuTTY on Windows for r-forge.r-project.org (Was: Re: Using SVN + SSH on windows)
Here are some notes/observations I've done on my setup that works for me. Hopefully it will be added to some r-forge documentation/wiki. I use: Windows Vista Business SP2 32bit TortoiseSVN 1.6.7 (Build 18415 - 32 Bit , 2010/01/22 17:55:06) PuTTY v0.60 (with Pageant v0.60) I have a deprecated r-forge project ('r-oo') that I will use through out. Dependency on R-Forge Package
In building a package, is it possible to make the package depend upon another package that is only available on R-Forge (not CRAN). For example, by doing something in the DESCRIPTION file I'd like to add a dependency to my package such that when the user install my package it will automatically install this other package from R-forge as well. Any help greatly appreciated. Damian

Regarding posting a package to R-forge (with one of the dependent packages not in CRAN)
Hi Guys, Recently I wrote a package for dealing with Markov Switching Regressions in R and it is included in the Rmetrics project. https://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/rmetrics/ Everything works fine when I use it in computer. But, the package depends on the use of optimization functions from the package Rdonlp2, which is not available on CRAN. So, if I have Rdonlp2 in my laptop (or any

R-Forge?
Hello! I have recently found RForge.net (http://www.rforge.net/) by Simon Urbanek and found out today that the site is accepting subscriptions. Great! However, browsing a bit on the site I found a link to another forge: R-Forge (http://r-forge.r-project.org/). Is/will the last one be the "offcial" forge for R packages, given that it has domain r-project.org? Regards, Gregor

R-Forge > GitHub?
Hello, All: ????? What's the status and future plans for R-Forge? ????? I ask primarily because a problem I reported May 15 and 17 via two different channels has yet to be fixed, and it prevents my development versions of the Ecdat and Ecfun packages from building -- because the Windows version cannot find "Matrix";? see below. Secondarily, the version of R that R-Forge

R-Forge
Hello Gregor, Yes, R-Forge.R-project.org will be the official forge for the R Community. But we have to fix a few things before we are going public. If you like you can participate and help us testing. If you have a package or a devel version of your package you're welcome to use SVN provided by R-Forge. For further questions please contact me or R-Forge at R-project.org. Regards,

R-Forge > GitHub?

Will GitHub automatically transfer the commits I made to R-Forge in the past couple of days?? R-Forge is now at Rev. 420, and GitHub is still at 418.? Will 419 and 420 be automatically mirrored onto "https://github.com/rforge/ecdat" sometime in the next 24 hours or so?? Is

R-Forge > GitHub?
Re your point 3: Because you have managed to create a GitHub version of your repository that is not a fork of https://github.com/rforge/ecdat, but its own independent repository, contacting GitHub support might not be the right way forward. Note that https://github.com/rforge is simply a read-only mirror of the complete R-Forge repository (and at least to me it is unclear of whether GitHub itself

R-Forge email down? (Re: R-Forge SVN commit hook to email appears to be broken)
Hi Mailman daemon wasn't running, not sure yet why. The good news is that it appears that mailman is running through the built up queue, so everyone should get the mails they should have received Best regards Martin On 15 September 2013 at 13:30, Dirk Eddelbuettel wrote: | | It would appear that commits no longer trigger emails; for Rcpp at least we | are two commits (made earlier

Installing binaries from R-Forge
Hello, I'm attempting to install the splm package from R-Forge. https://r-forge.r-project.org/R/?group_id=352 The page says, "In order to successfully install the packages provided on R-Forge, you have to switch to the most recent version of R..." It later says "To install this package directly within R type: install.packages("splm",

reliability of R-Forge?
How reliable is R-Forge? http://r-forge.r-project.org/ It is down now (for me). Reporting "R-Forge Could Not Connect to Database: " I have just started to use it for a project. It has been down for several hours (at least) on different occasions over the last couple of days. Is that common? Will it be more stable soon? Apologies if this is not an appropriate question for R-help. Dave

Migrating R packages from svn/R-Forge to git/Github
[I'm not sure if this post should go to R-devel, but thought I'd start here for wider readership.] I have a collection of R packages that I maintain using the eclipse/StatET IDE (mainly on Windows) with SVN on the R-Forge system, https://r-forge.r-project.org/users/friendly/ I'd like to consider moving these to git projects on GitHub, but I'm not sure how best to get started.

The error in the log file is make[3]: gfortran: Command not found It seems that gfortran is not installed. Is there any plan to fix this or am I doing something wrong on R-Forge? thanks in advance for your advises. regards, Yohan --

R 2.13.1 can't find package binaries on R-Forge
[Env: Win XP] I've just upgraded from R 2.12.2 to R 2.13.1. As part of my upgrade process, I typically install some in-development packages from R-Forge that are not on cran. But for the first time, it doesn't work. e.g., > install.packages("p3d", repos="http://R-Forge.R-project.org") trying URL

R-forge getting the wrong package
After accusing someone of typing 'install.packages("weather")' instead of 'install.packages("webmaps")', I discovered that R-forge really is currently returning the wrong source tarball for packages after 'Repitools' in the alphabet. The data returned from available.package in install.packages goes out of sync at 'Repitools': RemoteREngine
