Jade Dynasty graphics "glow" problem
I'm trying to get Jade Dynasty to work properly with Wine. Most of the bugs I've fixed or are to minor to worry about. There is one problem I can't seem to fix.
Glows on weapons are bright white from most camera angles. It appears the glows are reflecting something, but I don't know what. Certain monsters glow white as well. The bug does not happen on the character select screen

untar() error
Dear List,
I have a list of 600+ *.gz files that I would like to extract and read the
geotiffs contained within them. I tried using the untar() function to
simplify this task but I am stumped by an error. I've combed the Internet
for a solution without luck. The details are below, and any help in solving
this matter is appreciated.

Extending RAIDZ.
Yeah:)
I''d like to work on this. Here are my first observations:
- We need to call vdev_op_asize method with additonal ''offset'' argument,
- We need to move data to new disk starting from the very begining, so
we can''t reuse scrub/resilver code which does tree-walk through the
data.
Below you can see how I imagine to extend RAIDZ. Here is the legend:

Screen Corruption in directory trees in foobar2000
Hi I've just built a new Ubuntu 9.04 system on an Asus P5Q-EM board (intel G45/X4500) with E8400 Core Duo 2 chip.
I installed WINE and then foobar2000 but notice that the explorer tree in the Album List and Preferences window quite often become corrupt.

Reduced Error Logistic Regression, and R?
This news item in a data mining newsletter makes various claims for a technique called "Reduced Error Logistic Regression": http://www.kdnuggets.com/news/2007/n08/12i.html
In brief, are these (ambitious) claims justified and if so, has this technique been implemented in R (or does anyone have any plans to do so)?

World of Warcraft Problem
My problem started when i upgraded my Video Card from an Nvidia geforce 9500gt to a geforce 210. With the 9500gt i could run all day long with the texture resolution on High and no problems. With the Geforce 210 with Texture Resolution set on anything but low on certain camera angles I will lose the NPC's but turn the camera angle they will come back and move again they will disappear again.

Interface to open source Reporting tools
Hi,
I am a new user of R 2.8.1. I use Tinn-R for code editing. I use a windows
2003 system with 1 GB RAM.
I am interested to generate dashboard and reports based on data from MS
Access. These reports need to be posted on a weekly basis to the web. The
reporting interface should provide facilities for "what if" scenarios.
Is it possible to interface R analysis results to good open

3.2.6 or 3.3
Hello list,
We have been using 3.2.6 the last few months and are reasonably happy with it.
I am about to build a new file server (to replace the existing solution) and now have to decide to either stick with 3.2.6 (because we know it works) or upgrade to 3.3.
Main use will be a few distributed, replicated volumes on two servers with maybe a dozen or so clients.
Secondary use will be a

Strange behaviour with ptmx file descriptors
Hi list
At job we have an old C program which works with industrial hand terminals
from Honeywell.
That terminal has its own ssh/telnet client to connect to a linux redhat
6.6 server (openssh-server-5.3p1-104.el6_6.1.x86_64).
Once it is connected to the linux box (using a certain user), a C program
is launched by the bash shell with the following parameters
export TERM=vt200

Wine on Windows
Hello,
I've been trying to compile Wine on Cygwin with the idea of running Windows apps through an X server. I've had mixed success.
Short story:
This is a picture of Wine's notepad.exe running on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and displayed on my Cygwin/X server. I tried to display it remotely - obviously it works. There are some major problems, but I do believe that somebody who knows

Ultime9 works - or wine more win9x compatible than NT :-)
Hi,
When I was about 17 (4 years ago) I dreamed Ultima9 would run on Wine.
No joke - I really dreamed about it. Maybe the many not very
successful tries with WineX made my brain to rebell even when I slept
;)
I thing with WineX 1.1 or 2.0 it worked but:
- 3d sound was broken.
- Colors were mixed up + some other rendering problems
- I had to hack a bit, because it crashed when it attemped to

help needed with printing multiple arguments as vectors, not matrices
**
I am using the following way to get p-values from fiser exact test.
However, I do need to print for each pair the values "n00, n01, n10, n11".
How can I print that as a table and not a matrix as below along with the
p-value? Any help will be greatly appreciated
fish <- function(y, x) {n00 = sum((1-x)*(1-y)); n01 = sum((1-x)*y);
n10 = sum(x*(1-y)); n11 = sum(x*y); a =

Trouble with parametric bootstrap
Hi,
I'm having trouble understanding how to construct a random number generator
for a parametric bootstrap. My aim is to bootstrap a Likelihood Ratio
statistic (under the null) for a linear model. The function at this point
is given by
boot.test.n01 <- function(data, indeces, maxit=20) {
y1 <- fit1+se(e2)*rnorm(314)
mod1 <- glm(y1 ~ X1-1, maxit=maxit)

Using local writes with gluster for temporary storage
Hi,
We have a cluster with 130 compute nodes with an NAS-type
central storage under gluster (3 bricks, ~50TB). When we
run large number of ocean models we can run into bottlenecks
with many jobs trying to write to our central storage.
It was suggested to us that we could also used gluster to
unite the disks on the compute nodes into a single "disk"
in which files would be written
