Another permissions problem?
The rebuild server is now almost complete. Dovecot is running, and I can
telnet and log in. In kmail on this workstation I have created an imap
account, for which Inbox was created. I also created Trash and sent-mail as
top-level folders, and they display correctly with the cur, new and tmp
sub-folders on the server. I now want to create subfolders of Inbox, and
there I'm coming

IMAP Folder Creation
I am using Maildir with dovecot 0.99.14-1 and postfix.
My IMAP server was working where I could create a folder in Kmail or
Thunderbird and specify wether the folder was to hold messages or folders.
Then something changed, and I lost all my folders that contained sub-folders.
And now I cannot create folders that contain subfolders (Kmail doesn't event
give the option anymore). I can

mail-trends+Dovecot
Hi,
Out of curiosity, has anyone managed to use mail-trends[0] to analyse their
e-mails.
I thought about trying it out, but got stuck midstream.
The mail-trends scripts work very well with gmail, but because they say it
is supposed to work with _any_ IMAP server, I thought I could get it
running with Dovecot too.
I know this is NOT a mail-trends support group though, but I believe there

CentOS 4 Dovecot Problem
For those of you that still are running CentOS 4... I have one system
that is still going... there is a problem with the newest release of
Dovecot under mbox. Certain spam is causing this error when users try to
log on.
file lib.c: line 37 (nearest_power): assertion failed: (num <=
((size_t)1 << (BITS_IN_SIZE_T-1)))
Rolling back to a previous release fixes these issues. I'm not

Postfix and Maildirs
Hope someone can help me with this as I am presently stuck
I am setting up a new server with Dovecot 0.99.10, Redhat 9.0, Postfix,
Amavisd-new and maildir's in the users home drive.
I am using Netscape mail 7.1 as the main client to access the mail store
via imap which works fine and various other imap clients can access the
maildirs Ok as well.
The problem is when Postfix delivers a

Dovecot + SELinux permission problems
Hi,
I have set-up dovecot on a F17 box and am encountering weirdnesses with
SELinux (who isn't??). Again, I am trying to refrain from disabling
SWLinux all together, however tempting, but am stuck in troubleshooting
and hope for some ideas...
With SELinux set to permissive, I can connect to dovecot and log in to
access my mail as expected.
With SELinux enforcing, I can connect to dovecot,

why does dovecot child die on these messages?
Hi Timo and other dovecot fans,
why, when I'm trying to read certain "Drafts" emails that I just
created, or edited, do the dovecot children die (or so I think).
In mutt, the behaviour is that I "c =Drafts" then select the email and I
get "connection closed to squeaky.rubberduck.com".
In Mail.app - she just loops, trying to read those headers again and

Creating ZFS filesystem with inherited ACLs ?
Hi @all,
with ZFS its recommended to create a new filesystem, for example for each user to give them a home directory.
So far, so good. The homes should be under tank/export/home/staff and my intention is to restrict the ACL rights so only the user self can access his own home directory.
I study the ZFS Admin Guide and found the aclmode and aclinherit options, IMHO for my intention the

Dovecot strange behaviors on Solaris
Folks -
I've been using Dovecot for some time now, but have only recently upgraded
to 1.0alpha4. I'm struggling to get my configuration right and I'm seeing
some truly bizarre issues.
My Setup: Solaris 2.8 / Thunderbird / Procmail / Dovecot 1.0alpha4
My mail setup is only for me, so Dovecot runs at an odd port and under my
userID. All my mail is in my home directory, which

Huge IMAP folder takes forever
Hi!
Just updated to 1.0 rc15, but the problem remains. I think it could be
client-dependent to some extent.
I have only IMAPS access and Maildir. I have one mailbox which contains
some 10,200 mails. That mailbox takes forever (have waited 30 minutes
and then aborted) to open with Thunderbird 1.5.0.7. Other mailboxes
(like dovecot :-), only 6984 mails) opens quickly.
When Thunderbird tries to

Samba4 and file permissions
Hello
I configured a samba 4.3.1 service on a Centos 6.5 32 bit system and installed it in the /home/samba/samba-4.3.1 directory (I know this is not a good place but it was the only partition with enough free space).
The samba is running as an Active Directory Domain Controller with rfc2307 enabled and embedded DNS server.
This is my smb.conf

I encountered an bug in samba 2.0.7.
With the config option "logon home = \\%N\%U\profile" in smb.conf and

I had some users for which i forgot to enter the accompanying share in
