chain.c32 (and partiter) updates v2
This is a bit updated set of chain.c32 changes that simplifies a few things (and in partiter part), fixes few minor issues and adds a few new features. Details are in the following commits, below is the summary and pull details at the end. Shao - any chance to peek over them ? Most of those are relatively simple changes and well tested, though of course something might have slipped my attention.

PATCH/RFC chain.c: update iterator code, yank from chain.c, move both to separate directory
1) code split and move Iterator related functionality is yanked from chain.c and moved to iterator.{c,h}. Both are moved to com32/chain and this way chain.c is ready for further splitting. Alternatively, partiter could be moved to com32/lib at any time in the future. It's potentially useful for other modules (e.g. if someone wanted to code partition dumper or editor). 2) Iterator updates

[PATCH 0/6] chain.c32 patches
This small set fixes few bugs, improves gpt handling (under buggy conditions) and implements strict flag with more fine grained control which should fix issues with sanity checks against disk sizes. If this set is allright I'd want to do what I mentioned in older discussion with Ady - backport missing patches from 6.x to 5.x and 4.x so all versions have up to date chain version. Michal

chain.c32 Insane primary (MBR) partition
The following boot entries: # COM32 chain.c32 APPEND fs ntldr=/bootmgr # or: # COM32 chain.c32 APPEND hd0,1 ntldr=/bootmgr # might result in the following error: # Insane primary (MBR) partition. Can't find myself on the drive I booted from. # when using chain.c32 v4.07. I have seen similar error reports when using chain.c32 v4.06 too. It works correctly with chain.c32 v4.05, even when

Patch for chain.c32: Set default boot drive to CD drive from which ISOLINUX is booted
chain.c32 of SYSLINUX 3.82 does set the boot drive passed to the DL register to 0x80 and not to the boot drive (CD-drive). This can be a problem if you want to chainload grldr (grub4dos bootloader) from a CD and if you want to let grldr search for its menu.lst file on the CD. For more info: http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8457 This 1 line patch fixes the issue (Thanks to

FW: pxelinux 5.x, 6.x memtest problem
Additional information: I was tried it with 2 virtualbox (version 4.2.14r86644).1rst: debian weezy with isc-dhcp-server, pxelinux5.01, pxelinux 6.00, tftp-hpa2nd: empty virtualbox booting from virtual network card. So memtest 4.1 and 4.2 worked with pxelinux 4.06 Peter > Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2013 09:02:30 +0100 > From: matt at console-pimps.org > To: coolpet80 at hotmail.com > CC:

Syslinux + USB + PE 2.0
I am having the darnedest of times trying to get my WinPE to work off the syslinux loader. I used to use isolinux, and my isolinux config would just invoke the etfsboot.com file which i had renamed to loader.bin, and everything would work just fine off a cd. But now I'm trying to transfer all of my cd functionality to thumbdrives. With Syslinux, i have my syslinux.cfg file calling loader.bin

samba and ntfs flash drives ???
Hi All, Google is killing me here! Scientific Linux 7.2, 64 bit $ rpm -qa samba samba-4.2.3-11.el7_2.x86_64 Is there some trick to mounting an NTFS USB flash drive and sharing it with Samba? I am trying to share an NTFS flash drive with samba. If the drive is not mounted, I can do what I want from Windows 7 and XP on the mount point. I have full access. But, when I mount the stick to the

gpxelinux 3.70pre7 - wonderful!
Hi Peter et al, Just wanted to let you know my heartfelt appretiation of what you and the other devs have done in integrating gpxe and pxelinux... it works wonderfully well for me... I simply swapped my pxelinux.0 for my gpxelinux.0 and modified my pxelinux.cfg/default to use urls to refer to the kernel and initial ram disk images and it worked perfectly (dns resolution and all). This is a huge

Can PXElinux be used to dynamically pass DHCP option 252 to a PXE client?
All (and hpa in particular), I know that the question in the subject line of this message may come across as a bit silly, given that PXElinux is not a DHCP server, but hear me out... Those of you who have been working on PXE-booting Windows PE instances or the new Windows installer images that make use of the Windows Boot Manager and ".wim" files may have come across the general

multiple ".." support
Hello HPA, I have a request. Since v4.04, SYSLINUX supports one ".." in relative paths. It also supports multiple "../", only if the relative path ends with a specific directory, as in "../../otherdirectory/". Is it possible to expand this support to multiple "../" in SYSLINUX? BTW, ISOLINUX already supports this type of relative paths. The rest of

[RFC/PATCH] New chainloading functionality
This patch introduces extra functionality to chain.c, mainly with reference to BPB adjustments, but not only that. It expects 3 small patches I sent earlier (they are included for easy reference, patches 1-3/4). The changes introduced are: 1) file and boot sector use separate options to control load address and jump address (if applicable). Options are as described below: *
