Saving R Graph to a file
Hi I am not sure why I can't get my plot saved to a file as .ps, I searched online and I found that I have to use something is called postscript, png or pdf function which I did but still not working. Actually what I have is a matrix with almost 300-400 columns. I need to create a histogram and boxplot for some columns as .ps file (with reasonable size if i can adjust that would be nice also)

Creating netcdf from table
Hi! I have a table with 3 columns, 2 for long/lat coordinates and 1 for values (radon concentration). I have Tables for every week of the year 2006, always same coordinates but other values, i.e. time series. Now I want to create a NetCDF file for, which is much easier to handle than 52 tables. I tried the following for the first dataset (i.e first week):

Question about R
Hi, I would like to ask how can I do the problem as follows by R. Thank you very much. Q: Create a list of twenty distinct first names, ten male and ten female, and store them into an array. Write a routine for selecting a simple random sample of five names and counts the number of male and female names in the sample when the sample is drawn : (a) with replacement (b) without

speech in vorbis
I was wondering how vorbis fares as a speech codec? I mean can it give similar or better quality as GSM/Toast at the same kind of bitrates/filesize? I'm not worried about streaming but I'd love to be able to create really small voice files. Can anyone give me an idea of filesize for recording time for pure speech based use? love Freya __________________________________________________

New to Gluster. Question about Postgres on Gluster.
Hi list, First off, sorry if this message seems to ramble about. It's been a long day that stretched through too many days. I'm currently reviewing gluster as storage for our servers. While not storing a massive data set (yet), it is starting to grow. The current setup is one that I inherited and basically has nothing going for it at the moment. No redundancy, back up policies are next

Global removal pass - potential for improvement?
Hey everyone, I was looking into how the global optimization pass fares against things like what's reported in https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44676 Looking at this, I think it would be pretty trivial to optimize that down given that there are already threading assumptions made: https://godbolt.org/z/u6ZqoB Is this something I can look into? Another thing is that currently *all* external

sem is not "taking" the model
A strange problem with sem: I downloaded the sem library and then, I specified my simple measurement model (below). I highlighted it and ran it. It ran, but it did NOT tell me "22 lines read". And nothing works after that - it looks like it runs, but it does not produce anything... Did I make a mistake somewhere in the model? (notice, TIME has only 1 indicator - t1, and I fixed t1's

Using R for Production - Discussion
Hello Group, This is an open-ended question. Quite fascinated by the things I can do and the control I have on my activities since I started using R. I basically have been using this for analytical related work off my desktop. My experience has been quite good and most issues where I need to investigate and solve are typical items more related to data errors, format corruption, etc... not

Rails (internals) architectural question
Hi Another newbe here..... I was wondering if someone could please help me understand the controllers/view inner working in Production 1. If xxx_controller.rb is only loaded once does it mean there is only one instance of Controller serving all requests? 2. If only one instance of controller is there then how are controllers instance variables protected from data corruption when serving multiple

[LLVMdev] Testing the new CFL alias analysis
Hello everyone, One of Google's summer interns, George Burgess IV, created an implementation of the CFL pointer-aliasing analysis algorithm, and this has now been added to LLVM trunk. Now we should determine whether it is worthwhile adding this to the default optimization pipeline. For ease of testing, I've added the command line option -use-cfl-aa which will cause the CFL analysis to be

SHGetFolderPath and stuff
Hi all, I was taking another look at SHGetFolderPath() and related stuff today based on suggestions from Shanko and Zach. I think this would be fairly simple. My main question is, where do we put these values? Under File, Dir, or Shell? Or somewhere else? I vote Dir, since all the special CSIDL seem to be directories. Thus you would have something like: Dir::ADMINTOOLS Dir::BITBUCKET

Preparing to compare Solaris/ZFS and FreeBSD/ZFS performance.
Hi. I''m all set for doing performance comparsion between Solaris/ZFS and FreeBSD/ZFS. I spend last few weeks on FreeBSD/ZFS optimizations and I think I''m ready. The machine is 1xQuad-core DELL PowerEdge 1950, 2GB RAM, 15 x 74GB-FC-10K accesses via 2x2Gbit FC links. Unfortunately the links to disks are the bottleneck, so I''m going to use not more than 4 disks, probably.
