Hi, I am using the nls function and it stops because the number of iterations exceeded 50, but i used the nls.control argument to allow for 500 iterations. Do you have any idea why it's not working? fm1 <- nls(npe ~ SSgompertz(npo, Asym, b2, b3), data=f,control=nls.control(maxiter=500)) Error in nls(y ~ exp(-b2 * b3^x), data = xy, algorithm = "plinear", start = c(b2 =

difference between date and times
Hi, I have date and time in a format like this: " 2007-02-21 05:19:00". Do you which function i can use to derterminate the difference in time between this value and an other one. For exemple: this one : 2007-02-21 05:19:00 and this one : 2007-02-20 14:21:53 Thanks a lot, Karine H. _________________________________________________________________

to convert a character string in time
hi, I have my data time expressed in character string exple "5:20" (hour:min) and i want to convert these in times recognized by R. I have tried the POSIXct function: balise07$Hour <- as.POSXIct(balise07$Hour) but it didn't work. Do you know why? Do you know how i can convert my string character in a real time? Thanks Karine HEERAH Master 2 mention

2 dimensional interpolation from matlab to R
Hi everybody. i have 2 datasets : one with a long grid a lat grid and a bathymetry grid the second one only has the long and lat coordinates. So i want to know the bathymetry associated to the second dataset. I thought it was a good idea to do an interpolation between the two datasets. I find a script doing that on matlab but i want to do it on R. Do you how to do it? for ii =

hdf files
hello, I have a problem to open an hdf file. i have downloaded the package 'hdf5' as it was advised on R seek. But when i try to load the file, the R console sends me an eror message: setwd("C:/Documents and Settings/Karine/Bureau/data/") #install.packages('hdf5') library("hdf5") sea_ice <- hdf5load("asi-s6250-20090704-v5i.hdf", load =

plot dates
hi everybody, How can you plot some dates? I mean how can i have the tickmarks with the label of each date on my x axis? The dates i use are in POSIXct format, i don't know if it matters. thanks a lot Karine _________________________________________________________________ Consultez vos emails Orange, Gmail, Yahoo!, Free ... directement depuis HOTMAIL !

kriging problem - very urgent
Hi everybody, I have a longitude vector and a latitude one. Associated to these coordinates, i have a matrix with some data at some coordinates but not all. Lon <- seq(136.025,144.975,0.05) Lat <- rev(seq(-66.975,-65.525,0.05)) dim(z) <- c(Lon,Lat) And i have tried to apply to these data a kriging function. But first i need to reshape these 3 variables to have a dataframe

contour function: changing colour according to different levels
Hi everybody, I am using the contour function to draw isobares. And i would like to to bold contours for an interval of 500m and weak contour for an interval of 100m. Can someone help me with this? start values for nls() that don't yield singular gradients?
I'm trying to fit a Gompertz sigmoid as follows: x <- c(15, 16, 17, 18, 19) # arbitrary example data here; y <- c(0.1, 1.8, 2.2, 2.6, 2.9) # actual data is similar gm <- nls(y ~ a+b*exp(-exp(-c*(x-d))), start=c(a=?, b=?, c=?, d=?)) I have been unable to properly set the starting value '?'s. All of my guesses yield either a "singular gradient" error if they

several Filled.contour plots on the same device...
hello - a question about filled.contour plots, for which i haven't found a response in previous posts - sorry if already treated. i'd like to draw several filled.contour plots (that is, maps) on the same device (a postscript file, actually). I know about layout(matrix) , split.screen or par(mfrow) : it works well for simple plots, but with filled.contour plots, i get several pages

bootstrapped CI for nonlinear models using nlsBoot from nlstools
Hi all I?m trying to get confidence intervals for parameters from nls modeling. I fitted a nls model to the following variables: > x [1] 2 1 1 5 4 6 13 11 13 101 101 101 > y [1] 1.281055090 1.563609934 0.001570796 2.291579783 0.841891853 [6] 6.553951324 14.243274230 14.519899320 15.066473610 21.728809880 [11] 18.553054450 23.722637370 The model fitted was:

if() for() { }
Dear R'helpers, I guess the solution is trivial but despite some hours of testing and looking at the doc, I was unable to fix the following problem. I want to do either: for (i in 1:lat) a[i,which(a[i,]==0] <- NA or: for (i in 1:lat) a[i,which(a[i,]==-9999|a[i,]==9999|a[i,]==9998|a[i,] ==-9998)] <- NA if the word "Time" is or is not present in variable

self-starter functions for y = a + b * c^x
Hi there are some predefined self-start functions, like SSmicmen, SSbiexp, SSasymp, SSasympOff, SSasympOrig, SSgompertz, SSflp, SSlogis, SSweibull, Quadratic, Qubic, SSexp (nlrwr) Btw, do you know graphic examples for this functions? The SSexpDecay (exponential decay) for y = (y0 - plateau)*exp(-k*x) + plateau from

nls with some coefficients fixed
I'm using nls to fit a variety of different models. Here I use SSgompertz as an example. I want the ability to fix one (or more) of the coefficients that would normally be optimised (e.g. fix b3=0.8). Examples; based on and using data from example(SSgompertz) #--------------------- # vanilla call to nls, no coefficients fixed, works fine nls(density ~ SSgompertz(log(conc), Asym, b2, b3),

foreach %do% and %dopar%
Hi everyone, I'm working on a script trying to use foreach %dopar% but without success, so I manage to run the code with foreach %do% and looks like this: The code is part of a MCMC model for projects valuation, returning the most important results (VPN, TIR, EVA, etc.) of the simulation. foreach (simx = NsimT, .combine=cbind, .inorder=FALSE, .verbose=TRUE) %do% { MCPVMPA = MCVAMPA[simx]

[PATCH net-next v3 5/5] xen-netback: enable IPv6 TCP GSO to the guest
This patch adds code to handle SKB_GSO_TCPV6 skbs and construct appropriate extra or prefix segments to pass the large packet to the frontend. New xenstore flags, feature-gso-tcpv6 and feature-gso-tcpv6-prefix, are sampled to determine if the frontend is capable of handling such packets. OFF TOPIC: Core router upgrade for a voip colocation center
Hello, hope this isn't too far offtopic here but being a troller for a long time here I've realized there is a great knowledge base so I wanted to at least see if i could get some tips. I help run a small colocation company in California and I am in the middle of recommending a new 'core router' platform for our network. We offer mainly colo and dedicated servers, and several of

Get a percent variable based on group
Dear all, I'd like to get a percentage variable based on a group, but without creating a new data frame. For example: data(iris) iris$percent <-unlist(tapply(iris$Sepal.Length,iris$Species,function(x) x/sum(x, na.rm=TRUE))) This does not work, I should have only three standard values, respectively for setosa, versicolor, and virginica. How can I do this? MANY THANKS, Karine
