OT LVM question
I've got a situation here where my LVM is showing the following problem: Found duplicate PV xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: using /dev/sdb2 not /dev/sda2 Not sure what causes this and I really don't have a clue as to what the consequences are when seeing this or how to fix it. Google just confuses me with any suggestions. Can anyone offer any help, please? Steve Campbell

Finally switching from Xen to KVM - question about networking
I had so much trouble putting Centos 6 guest VMs on a Centos 5 host that I finally switched to a Centos 6 host. I've not needed more that test VMs, so I've used Virtual Machine Manager on the old system, which worked pretty well, so I decided to create my first KVM guest machine. I noticed when I created it, I only had the options of NAT for my network interface, so I used that

high availability ideas
Hi, I'm looking for some recommendations. I need to have some sort of high availability for a set of php & mysql web sites, they must be hosted on 2 servers, in separate data centres and obviously on differrent IPs. I can't use a load balancer because that will introduce a single point of failure making the "distributed setup" useless. I was thinking some sort of

Patches to enable MTUs >1500 in el5.6 ready for testing.
Hi all, With help from others, I''ve been able to get Olaf''s patch for enabling MTUs >1500 for vifX.y and tapZ devices working. I''ve been able to boot dom0, launch domU and live-migrate without having the bridge''s MTU degrade at any time. Would the Xen RPM maintainers (and others) mind taking a look at the following patches? Kernel part:

CentOS Cluster
Dear All, I am newbie to Linux Clustering, i have 2 standalone CentOS servers, i want to setup a cluster on those servers, to synchronize between each other, and to make a one as standby to the other, if a one fails the other will switchover. I will mostly use Apache, Mysql, and PHP. I have read the "Cluster Administration" document, i found that there are multiple methods to setup

Fencing a Dell T110 II
I think I know the answer to this question based on all of the research I've done, but figured I'd ask anyway. I needed a couple of servers for an HA cluster, and our "order" guy here ordered me a couple of Dell PowerEdge T110 II. I'd planned on using IPMI to fence these things with, but later found out that this model is only one of two PE servers Dell sells that has a

Fencing question(s)
I've got a Centos 5.8 box that I use for testing Xen VMs. I'm trying to setup some Centos 6.2 hosts in a high availability situation. I've tried the pacemaker route and couldn't get the connection established, so thought I'd try the RH-preferred methods. Mind you, all of these VMs are on the same host. Using Conga, it seems that I need some sort of fencing device, which

virt-manager like tool for Android
Hi all, I use virt-manager as a way to give customers direct access to their (virtual) servers. This is important for things like OS installs or when do admin work where the network is down. This means I have to install a little linux machine though as none of my clients are linux shops. So I got to wondering; If I understand, virt-manager is more or less a hypervisor-aware VNC client,

long delay when logging in

This will certainly stop the long timeout, but I prefer telling people to fix their DNS. The long timeout is indicative of a DNS issue and turning off DNS for ssh is just masking the real problem. I prefer to leave DNS on

Announcing a new HA KVM tutorial!
Almost exactly two years ago, I released the first tutorial for building an HA platform for KVM VMs. In that time, I have learned a lot, created some tools to simplify management and refined the design to handle corner-cases seen in the field. Today, the culmination of that learning is summed up in the "2nd Edition" of that tutorial, now called "AN!Cluster Tutorial 2".

Looking for a CentOS-friendly online backup company
Hi all. We've got a lot of customers running CentOS 5 and 6 servers. We've been asked by many to provide backup, which is something we don't want to do in house. So we started looking for backup companies to partner with. The problem is that the ones we've found who support RHEL won't support CentOS. So does anyone know of an online backup company that _will_

New Tutorial - RHCS + DRBD + KVM; 2-Node HA on EL6
Hi all, I'm happy to announce a new tutorial! https://alteeve.com/w/2-Node_Red_Hat_KVM_Cluster_Tutorial This tutorial walks a user through the entire process of building a 2-Node cluster for making KVM virtual machines highly available. It uses Red Hat Cluster services v3 and DRBD 8.3.12. It is written such that you can use entirely free or fully Red Hat supported environments.

using ip address on bonded channels in a cluster
I'm creating a firewall HA cluster. The proof of concept for the basic firewall cluster is OK. I can bring up the cluster, start the iptables firewall, and move all of this with no problem. I'm using Conga to do all of this configuration on Centos 6.3 servers. To extend the "HA" part of this, I'd like to use bonded channels instead of plain old NICs. The firewall uses

How to boot CentOS 7 in Text mode in default?
I have done what you said and I restarted centos7. It still goes into graph mode automatically. So what is the step I can do to go into text mode automatically? 2015-03-19 12:03 GMT-07:00 Digimer <lists at alteeve.ca>: > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Try: > > plymouth-set-default-theme --list > > You should see 'text' and

KVM HA
Hi, I have two KVM hosts (CentOS 7) and would like them to operate as High Availability servers, automatically migrating guests when one of the hosts goes down. My question is: Is this even possible? All the documentation for HA that I've found appears to not do this. Am I missing something? My configuration so fare includes: * SAN Storage Volumes for raw device mappings for guest vms
