ypwhich -m
Hi,
I found that ypwhich -m does not work on 6.1-RC, it shows
ypwhich: can't find the master of `?`: reason: No such map in server's domain
IIRC, there was a commit last year to fix this. After some search, I think
it is include/rpcsvc/yp_prot.h revision 1.13 done by peter@ (CC'ed).
As far as I can tell, ypwhich -m is also broken on 5.4 and 5.5-PRERELEASE.
I have tested that

Multi-User Security
Hello list.
I would like to get your opinion on what is a safe multi-user environment.
The scenario:
We would like to offer to some customers of ours some sort of network
backup/archive. They would put daily or weekly backups from their local
machine on our server using rsync and SSH. Therefore, they all have a user
account on our server. However, we must ensure that they would absolutely

named.conf: query-source address
Hi!
I fully understand and second efforts on educating people
how to configure BIND to be stong to attacks and keep them from using
"query-source address" with "port" option but how about
binding named to particular IP address when host has many of them?
Using "query-source address" without "port" is the only solution
(not speaking of jails here) and safe

ad0: READ command timeout....
This morning I found a frozen box. On the console was this:
ad0: READ command timeout tag=0 serv=0 - resetting
ata0: resetting devices .. ata0-slave: ATA identify retries exceeded
done
After reboot, those messages were found in /var/log/messages.
I'm running FreeBSD 4.8-RC from Apr 4 10:45:49 EST 2003.
Any ideas?

Network admin
Does anyone need any remote administration (or local if you're in Portland,
OR)? I've been using freebsd on a daily basis for almost 2 years for
everything from a desktop system to running dns and apache. I'm also 2
semester's away from finishing my AAS in CIS: network admin, all A's. Oh,
did I mention I'll do it for free?

status of autotuning freebsd for 9.2
Andre,
Are you going to have time to MFC things from -current for auto-tuning
-stable before 9.2?
I fear (maybe unnecessarily?) that we are about to ship yet another
release that can't do basic 10gigE when sufficient memory exists.
If you don't have time, then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Sockets stuck in FIN_WAIT_1
I have a rather busy Apache 2.2 server; tons of small & some large
requests. It's a standard Dell 2650 server using the bge (broadcom)
network driver.
I seem to have a rather strange problem where after just a day or so
Apache just stops processing new connections. You can connect to port
80, but trying to get Apache to process any data just hangs. There is
nothing strange in

src/etc/rc.firewall simple ${fw_pass} tcp from any to any established
Hi security@ list,
In my self written, large ipfw rule set, I had something that passed
http to allow me to browse most but not all remote sites. For years
I assumed the few sites I had difficulty with were cases pppoed MTU
!= 1500, from not having installed tcpmssd on my 4.*-RELEASE, but
then running 6.1-RELEASE I realised that wasn't the problem.

captive Portal Pfsense + FreeRadius + MySQL DBMS
Dear Friends Greetings,
i have a question for you, i am sure someone can help. The pfsense captive
portal is up and running. Time countdown vouchers are working without
issue, such as 30m, 45m, 1h & so on.
However, I'd like to set up a download quota of 200MB per voucher. but
then you need to login with a username and password, instead of vouchers.
but I haven't found a way to

small plot inside a big plot
Dear R-helpers,
i want to draw a small plot (histogram) within a larger plot (simple scatterplot), so that the axes of the bigger plot remain intact.
I know how to use layout() and par(mfrow...) and such, but I want the smaller graph to be *inside* the bigger plot. Is this possible?
thanks,
Remko
