ssh-copy-id no newline bug
When editing ~/.ssh/authorized_keys manually, sometimes users forget to add a newline at the end of the file, causing the next ssh-copy-id call to append a new key to an existing key, invalidating both keys. This can be fixed by simply adding a newline before appending the key. Something like this change to openssh-source/openssh-6.7p1/contrib/ssh-copy-id might work: # Assuming that the remote

Patch to workaround host key size mismatch bug in old SSH sshd
Below is a patch against the current OpenBSD OpenSSH CVS to workaround a behavior I have observed when converting from SSH 1.2.27 to OpenSSH while using the same old RSA1 host key for protocol 1. In several cases I saw that old SSH sshd reported a host key size of 1024 bits when OpenSSH saw it as 1023 bits. Without the patch, when OpenSSH's ssh client connects to an old SSH sshd it warns

Port scan from Apache?
Hi everyone, today I got an e-mail from a company claiming that my server is doing port scans on their firewall machine. I found that hard to believe so I started checking the box. The company rep told me that the scan was originating at port 80 with destination port 8254 on their machine. I couldn't find any hints as to why that computer was subject to the alleged port scans. Can't see more than 8 files? MTU-ish issue?
A colleague is working with a Samba installation where Windows clients are accessing the server over a VPN. They are seeing an issue where a share is visible, but if a directory contains more than 8 files, they get an error. The VPN is set to allow everything in both directions. Windows->Window sharing does work OK across the link, as do other large file transfers (NFS, FTP). The Samba

SSH login between servers still asking for password, why?
I have two servers identified as `server-1 - 192.168.3.128` and `server-2 - 192.168.3.130`. I am setting up `capifony` for automatic deployment from server-1 to server-2 and this is what I have done so far: 1. In both servers I have created a user `deploy` without password since that's the user I will use for deployment. 2. In server-1 I setup a SSH keys by running the command:

Unable to apply mysqld_db_t to mysql directory
Interesting to see the Equivalence. As a first thing, I tried: semanage fcontext -a -e /var/lib/mysql.old /var/lib/mysql then restorecon -R /var/lib/mysql # semanage fcontext -lC SELinux fcontext type Context /home/users(/.*)? all files system_u:object_r:user_home_dir_t:s0 /var/lib/mysql all
