C 5.2 and VMWAre error
A colleague has a newly built 64-bit CentOS 5.0 system that, through yum
updates, has become CentOS 5.2. VMWare Workstation and Player work fine
for my account on it. But a recent configuration of something under
their account has produced:

rc1 did not exhibit this mismatch. A repeat of the rc2 build repeated the
mismatch. I diff'd the disassembly between phase 2 and phase 3 and the
difference is the same on both builds. The difference follows:

GSSAPI authentication setup
I'm setting up dovecot on a new box; and once again I find myself
banging my head against GSSAPI authentication.
The particularly irritating thing is that I have this working on
another box. ?I've done my best to ape the configuration of that box;
but it's been some years since I set it up and somewhere along the line
I have failed.
My dovecot.conf has:
auth_mechanism = plain gssapi

[LLVMdev] LLVM Build Problems on Itanium
Hi,
I am having some difficulties building llvm on Itanium. My procedure for
building LLVM is:
cd /liberty/llvm.ia64/llvm-2.1
./configure
make ENABLE_OPTIZED=1
cd /liberty/llvm.ia64/obj
/liberty/llvm.ia64/llvm-gcc4.2-2.1.source/configure
--prefix=/liberty/llvm.ia64/install
--enable-llvm=/liberty/llvm.ia64/llvm-2.1/ --enable-languages=c,c++

[LLVMdev] LLVM Build Problems on Itanium
Hi,
I've figured out a little more. #if defined DBX_DEBUGGING_INFO ||
XCOFF_DEBUGGING_INFO guards the declaration of type_queue, however,
neither is defined on Intanium. In gt-dbxout.h type_queue's uses are
unguarded and thus are undefined on Itanium. When I compared llvm-gcc's
gt-dbxout.h with FSF gcc's, I found that type_queue was never used in
FSF gcc's version. Does

chroot.diff
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the list to mail, but I have updated chroot.diff for openssh 3.1. I thought more people are most likely using this and figured some people may lack the ability to update it themselves as certain functions were modified enough to require new function prototypes etc... I'd be happy to modify this again for future releases if you'd like.

Xen with Broadcom Tigon3 BCM5704
Greetings all:
Loading Xen up on a server with 2 of these GbE adapters. I''m using
the first one as the main interface and the second one for the NFS
storage network.
When things are running, I can see xenbr0 and pif shows it attached
to eth0, although I don''t see any peth0 or vif0.0. I can connect to the
main address on the machine without any problem.

ClamAV version(s)
I had clamav-milter working as well as clamd, then for some reason clamd
stopped and would not create the socket. After much hair pulling, I
finally tracked the problem(s) down to /etc/clamd.conf. After
commenting all the stuff out that was providing errors, it is now
working again. I had somehow mixed versions from sourceforge and
centos, and when I could not get things to update

File names and e-acute char
Hi.
Samba 1.9.15p8 under IRIX 6.1 (yes I know, it's old stuff ...)
The susers on Windows 9x/WindowsNT just put their strange file name or
directory name (like /usr/people/mesure_?t? ) on the IRIX. However, from
the IRIX side, it's impossible toaccess to such files/directory.
What's more, my ARkeia backup client stalls on such a name and fouled up
my backup database...

Hiding version information
Greetings,
I have seen a couple of postings about hiding the version information from
clients. I had modified my copy of 3.4p1 to include two additional
configuration options that accomplish this task and a bit more. I had
posted this to the general users list, but after thinking about it, I
thought that it might be good to post it here as well.

[PATCH] __func__ and __FUNCTION__ in configure script
Hi everybody, I'm Kris.
A little background: I've been contributing to Nmap for over a year, and
am an SoC student for it this summer.
But on to the patch..
Currently:
__func__ and __FUNCTION__ are checked for in the configure script, but
if one or the other doesn't exist, it is changed in defines.h.
Patched:
They are both still checked for in configure, but this is done in

Another quantmod question
I'm having troubles with the names of columns.
quantmod deal with stock quotes. I've created an array of the first 5
closing prices from Jan 2007. (Is there a problem that the name is the same
as the variable name? There shouldn't be.)

MWI not working on Polycom Phones
Hi All -
I'm running version SIP version 1.3.4 on various IP300, IP500, and
IP600 Polycom phones. I'm having a tough time with MWI. I thought I
remembered somebody on the list saying that they had it working, but I
can't find it in the archives now. I have all the phones configured
for MWI as specified in the WIKI:
