[PATCH 00/12] Multidisk support
Hello, the following patches should get multidisk access working. The syntax accepted is the following: (hdx,y)/path/to/file where x is the disk number and start at 0 and the y is the partition number starting at 1. So (hd0,1) is the first partition of the first disk. the other accepted syntax is using MBR's 32 bits disk signature so for example: (mbr:0x12345678,2)/foo/bar would address

CHAINing to a USB Thumb Drive
I was doing a laptop repair job today and needed to boot from a USB thumb drive, in order to free up the CD/DVD burner. Fortunately, the laptop to be repaired permitted one to boot from a USB thumb drive. However, there are still PCs out there that can't boot from a thumb drive (I have two), so I was wondering if it's pos to use the CHAIN module to boot from a thumb drive ? I looked at

Read back of caller ID
I've been looking around for an example of a method of reading back a caller ID value, but I haven't found anything that doesn't use Festival. I'd rather not resort to the Mr. Roboto voice if I can avoid it. Playback of the numbers one at a time is perfectly fine, so I'd like to use the default female Asterisk voice (the sound files are in place on my server). Does anyone have

Just tried the latest release and found a minor bug. Have a UFD w/ SYSLINUX, which boots a simple .BSS image no problem. Launching exactly the same image on a ISOLINUX disc fails w/ the following error msg: Invalid image type for this media That's it for this msg. Later....Jet -- Powered by Outblaze

Asterisk 10.0 & 1.4 - iax codec are not compatible
I'm trying Asterisk 10.0 (as 8.x is not passing PSTN CallerID) and Asterisk 10.0 is no better. I'm still getting: WARNING[12295]: chan_sip.c:14446 check_auth: username mismatch, have <11>, digest has <pstn-1270> NOTICE[12295]: chan_sip.c:22769 handle_request_invite: Failed to authenticate device "KMIEC Z" <sip:7804715665 at 10.0.0.110>;tag=1c1222950155 Anybody

Is There an Alternative to MEMDISK ?
This isn't an esp urgent issue, but I'd like to use a certain RAM diagnostic (Doc Mem) which I've already posted a note about a couple of months ago. Simply won't work booting the floppy disk image via MEMDISK. In the interim, I've tried to resolve this by changing things on my side. I'm pretty sure it's a XMS incompatibility, as it fails differently depending on

GSoC Student
Hello, I would like to introduce myself as the new Google Summer of Code student for this year. My name is Andr? Ericson and I'm an undergraduate student of Computer Science in Brazil. I will be, with the help of Paulo Alcantara (pcacjr) my mentor, working on implementing Multidisk Support for the Syslinux. For those that are not familiar with the time-line of GSoC, we (students) have until

Lin/Win desktop/games rig with PEG pass-through
Hi all, I''m planning a rig that has SuSE linux in Dom0 and Windows7 in a DomU with the PCIe video card passed through to the Win7-U and an AMD system''s onboard video for the Linux system. Couple xen-newbie questions: does my plan work in such that I intend to have the onboard video''s DVI and the video card (at present an NV GTX-460) on the same monitor and switch

Eliminating silence suppression(?) on IAX2 calls
We have an Asterisk server that speaks IAX2 to Magrathea to get to the PSTN. Our local phones are a mix of Cisco 7940s and Grandstream BT100s all configured for SIP with silence-suppression disabled. Everything is configured to use a-law encoding. The version is: sip*CLI> show version Asterisk CVS-05/06/04-18:45:57 built by root@sip on a i686 running Linux Incoming callers are complaining of

CLI message: remote unix connection disconnected
I am running the most recent asterisk 1.2.13 on a Fedora 3.0. When I go into asterisk (asterisk -r), defaults to verbose 3 and I get a stream of messages: Remote Unix connection Remote Unix connection disconnected ... ... (keeps on repeating). I went to google and searched on "asterisk Remote Unix connection disconnected" but cannot find anything I can recognize. I checked my iax.conf

securing a remotely hosted machine
Hi, I'm looking to put together a doc for the wiki.c.o on howto secure a remotely hosted machine. Its a situation that many of us find ourselves in, wherein we either lease or colo a server ( or many ) and there is always the issue of remote hands, other facility users etc being able to get physical access of the machines. So what are the usual steps that people take in order to secure

(Resend) Trouble with all linux sip softphones.... And asterisk/linphone/kphone SRPMs
Got no responses to this, but the list seemed to be down for a while, so here it is again. Sorry for the extra bandwidth! John Hi, I've been messing with getting SIP working for days now, with limited success. I've got Asterisk set up on a remote server with the echo test. Please try it out to verify I've got the server working right: sip:robot at nixon.butchwax.com

Booting from various ISO files directly

slog/L2ARC on a hard drive and not SSD?
Hi, Out of pure curiosity, I was wondering, what would happen if one tries to use a regular 7200RPM (or 10K) drive as slog or L2ARC (or both)? I know these are designed with SSDs in mind, and I know it''s possible to use anything you want as cache. So would ZFS benefit from it? Would it be the same? Would it slow down? I guess it would slow things down, because it would be trying to

hello, I have a test setup with 2 asterisk servers, each having a one snom 100 via sip using it. I`m experimenting on how trunking between them would work. I have them setup for RSA authentication which I plan to use in the future. So I`ve setup the keys and servers seem authenticate to each other. One is named phila and other hurricane. Here is what I see on phila: -- Registered
