Setting inline hook to a function identical to default in knitr turns of exponential formatting
Hello List, while dealing with a questin of 'xiaodao' ( http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Problem-with-large-small-numbers-in-knitr-tp4653986.html) I noticed that copying the default inline hook function obtained by knit_hooks$get("inline") into a knit_hook$set(inline = <...>) call turns off exponential fomatting in the resulting .tex file. I used a stripped version of

knitr without R studio
Hello folks, I`m using knitr on R studio, which make it easy to use, but a coworker of mine would like to run it on "simple" R. So I was wondering if you know what is the equivalent of the button "knit HTML" in RStudio in R. I tried knit2HTML( <html> <head> <title></title> </head> <body style="background-color:white">

Sweave: printing an underscore in the output from an R command
I am working with Sweave and would like to print out into my latex document the result of the R command version$platform So what I first tried in my .Rnw document was \Sexpr{print(version$platform)}. However, the output from this command is the string "x86_64-apple-darwin10.8.0" (without the quotes). This contains an underscore, which is a special character in tex and so I get an error

help with knit_hooks
Dear R-listers, does anybody can suggest some manual where I can learn more about how the hooks in knitr work? I am trying to enclose the output of an R command in the Latex verbatim environment. I defined a hook as follows: knit_hooks$set(fsverb = function(x, options) { paste("\\begin(verbatim)\n", x, "\\end(verbatim)\n", sep = "") } then I set a chunk as

post_processor in rmarkdown not working
Dear all, I'm trying to write a post_processor() for a custom rmarkdown format. The goal of the post_processor() is to modify the latex file before it is compiled. For some reason the post_processor() is not run. The post_processor() does work when I run it manually on the tex file. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Below is the relevant snippet of the code. The full code is

rgl/webGL complains about Javascript, even in recent online docs?
FYI, one platform where I have not been able to get interactive rgl working is iOS 8. iOS 8 is supposed to support WebGL, and Javascript is enabled. [LLVMdev] X86 - Help on fixing a poor code generation bug
Hi all, I noticed that the x86 backend tends to emit unnecessary vector insert instructions immediately after sse scalar fp instructions like addss/mulss. For example: ///////////////////////////////// __m128 foo(__m128 A, __m128 B) { _mm_add_ss(A, B); } ///////////////////////////////// produces the sequence: addss %xmm0, %xmm1 movss %xmm1, %xmm0 which could be easily optimized into

rgl/webGL complains about Javascript, even in recent online docs?
Hello, The recently created online "rgl Overview" at https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/rgl/vignettes/rgl.html illustrates a problem that I am trying to resolve. At the bottom of each image block on that page appears the advisory: You must enable Javascript to view this page properly. I am using Safari under MacOS with Javascript and WebGL both enabled, so it must be the

R CMD check for the R code from vignettes
Hi, Recently I saw a couple of cases in which the package vignettes were somewhat complicated so that Stangle() (or knitr::purl() or other tangling functions) can fail to produce the exact R code that is executed by the weaving function Sweave() (or knitr::knit(), ...). For example, this is a valid document that can pass the weaving process but cannot generate a valid R script to be source()d:

Sweave: R chunk inside caption?
Hi Folks, I'm surprised, but I didn't find this question addressed anywhere. I'd like to generate a LaTeX caption with R code. I've tried the code below, but I get the following TeX error: ! Argument of \@caption has an extra }. <inserted text> \par l.21 } Any thoughts? Perhaps I'll have to write the "\caption{}" text with R? thanks!

Sweave xtable

post_processor in rmarkdown not working
Dear Duncan, Thanks for chiming in. Could you explain how you set debug() on post_processor()? I've tried adding debug(post_processor) to rsos_article() or adding debug(post_processor) when after post_processor was defined in the debugger. Neither work for me. All supporting files are available within the package. The code below should be reproducible on your machine.

SweaveParseOptions, quoted commas, and knitr vignettes
I haven't figured it out entirely, but it looks like there are a couple of small glitches with knitr-based vignettes and SweaveParseOptions. I posted the tarball of a package with a knitr vignette with (as far as I can tell) everything properly coded in the DESCRIPTION file (VignetteBuilder: knitr, Suggests: knitr) and the vignette itself (%\VignetteEngine{knitr::knitr}). When Windows

packages with Sweave and knitr vignettes?
Now that R 3.0.0+ supports non-Sweave vignettes, R-exts \S 1.4.2 seems to imply that it is possible to include both Sweave and knitr vignettes in a single package. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this and/or if there are some hidden gotchas putting this into practice, and concerned about creating problems with CRAN checks if I try this. Consider two vignettes: pkg/vignettes/vign1.Rnw,

Problem installing knitr 0.5 or higher in Ubuntu
Hi, I am using Rstudio in Ubuntu . While installing R from the terminal I got the version R 2.13.1 . But the problem is that knitr 0.5 requires higher versions. So is there any way to get the latest version of R in ubuntu (or 2.13.1 is the maximum I can get)? In case the higher R version is not available can anybody please help me how do I use the "knitr Html" option in R studio.
