PAM sessions and conversation functions
In OpenSSH 3.6.1p2, pam_open_session() ran with a conversation function,
do_pam_conversation(), that fed text to the client. In OpenSSH 3.7.1p2,
this is no longer the case: session modules run with a conversation
function that just returns PAM_CONV_ERR. This means that simple session
modules whose job involves printing text on the user's terminal no
longer work: pam_lastlog, pam_mail, and

To Do list...
This is just portable todo list. From the sounds of it Markus has his own
to do list. But can everyone review and let me know if there is anything
missing from this list. (Note.. I'm not looking for 'SSH should support
XYZ feature.' unless it's directly related to portability.) Or if there
is anything on this list that has been completed. (Namely Tru64 SIA
support?)
Thanks.

wbinfo -u is returning 0xc0000022
Hi all,
I have a samba 2.2.8a install runing on a debian woody. The samba is working fine and I am able to map shared drives. I want to use a Primary Domain Controller to authenticate users. I have included the necessary options in smb.conf,
# separate domain and username with '+', like DOMAIN+username
   winbind separator = +
# use uids from 10000 to 20000 for domain users

Samba3 : no suitable range available for sid
I'm setting up a freebsd server which will authenticate against an
Active Directory
I mean: the server will NOT have any local users (except mandatory and
minimum
required for management and configuration) and will authenticate requests
for login and access
FOR EVERY SERVICE against an Active Directory Server
I have configured the samba service and currently I can
login to local terminal,

Not sure I understand when add user script is called
I've built a domain member. It works pretty good with the exception
that I want on-the-fly home directories being built. I'm not sure this
is doable with a domain member as everything I've tried isn't even
called - as far as I can tell. Using log level 3.
If anyone can shed light on how to dynamically create home directories,
that'd be great.
anyway, here's my

Winbindd and SSH (just disconnects after login)
It looks like I've gotten the majority of things working in regards to
Winbind. Users are being authenticated by the NT4 PDC when connecting to
shares, but I can't seem to get things set up correctly to allow logging in
via SSH(OpenSSH_3.6.1p2, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090702f). It
appears as though I'm successfully authenticated by the PDC, but then the
connection is

way to duplicate logs?
Hello-
I am bit confused here. I have just had some issues with my box and I
am looking for some opinions. I just had been denied access to my
box...supposedly from a memory shortage in reference to my NIC....more
specifically, mbuf clusters exhausted. Now I am looking in my
/var/log/messages for when this started and I notice a discrepancy in my
logs. Now from where I am looking, I see

Continued utmp probs with sshlogin.c
Hi all,
I've hacked in some better logging for what's going on with my logins and
utmp/wtmp. Everything seems OK except for u.ut_host.
In my case, the actual variable host for this test case is
aragon.cheshirelaw.com. This is fine (as my logs show):
Mar 5 21:22:47 frodo sshd[10274]: Actual: 983852567 /dev/ttyp0
	aragon.cheshirelaw.com
However, check out what u.ut_host is logged as:
