[POSIX ACLs] Only ACE rules from Samba Primary Group are applied.
Hi, I've a samba 3.0.24 server running in a debian "alike" OS with a (Open)LDAP backend and I'm having the following problem: I have LDAP users that belong to more than one (POSIX) group. For instance, I have a user2 that belongs to group "users" and "grupo2" and I have a share with the following ACL settings: getfacl /home/shares/share1/ getfacl: Removing

Permissions problem with Windows Vista / 7 clients, Debian Samba 3.4.7 server
I'm having a very strange permissions problem with Samba 3.4.7 (installed via backports.org) running on Debian Lenny: If a Windows 7 or Windows Vista client tries to use Windows Explorer to access a user's home directory with permissions 0700, the client gets a permission denied error. If the directory is made world readable, it works. (For one user, group readable also works. For

Confusion berween file and direcory
I have some trouble with a samba 3.5.8 server when setting directory attributes. On a windows XP I execute a small peace of code that calls 'SetFileAttributes' for the directory 'test-dir' located on the samba server. Using log level 10 I find this: [2011/05/26 15:27:02.144060, 3] smbd/process.c:1298 (switch_message) switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 28903) conn 0x7f5e35f0dbb0

Can't create file.
I can authenticate at the smb level, but there's something wrong at the posix level when I try to edit or create files. I am always denied access regardless of how loose the file/directory permissions are. This is what I am seeing in the logs - [2009/12/20 00:57:35, 4] smbd/uid.c:change_to_user(183) change_to_user: Skipping user change - already user [2009/12/20 00:57:35, 5]

samba and gpfs
Hi all, I've got question (problem?) regarding samba exporting gpfs filesystem. My setup is very simple - gpfs client machine with gpfs filesystem mounted and samba server running on the top of it. I compiled samba with gpfs support, here is my smb.conf section: [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes fileid:mapping = fsname use mmap = no

Samba 3.0.x access rights issue with secondary groups or Unix rights

Weird permissions problem
I could still really use some help here.... After spending hours on this, I have determined that it's only my user account that is having this problem. Everyone else can access 700 files/directories owned by them just fine. Thinking of perhaps a UID conflict somewhere, even though there didn't appear to be one, I deleted my account and recreated it with a new UID, copied everything

3.6.5: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED from Win7 to 750 dir
Hello, after upgrading from Samba 3.5.6 to 3.6.5 I encounter some strange NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED trouble when trying to access group readable directories from Windows 7 or Windows 2008 Terminal Server. Very strange stuff is that it works fine using smbclient from a Linux machine using the same userid and Kerberos authentication. The Server is fully integrated into active directory and uses

samba3.0.25b group permissions problem via AD+Winbind
Hi Samba people, I'm having a strange problem with Samba 3.0.25b running on solaris 9 with native ADS and Winbind. A domain user (no /etc/passwd entry), jlunch, can write to directories via the unix shell that has group permissions he is part of without any issues. However, doing the same via a samba share (share1) in the same folder (folder1), returns permission denied. It almost appears

Clients can't write to group-writable files - plea for help
All, Apologies for basically bumping my own thread, but I'm absolutely at my wits' end trying to figure out this access problem. I've replicated the issue with and without NFS being involved. On our old 4.0.25 server, users can write to files that they have group-based write permissions. On 4.5.x, 4.4.x, and 4.3.x that permission is not being honored. I would be incredibly

cannot set gpfs:sharemodes to yes
Hi, I'm trying to set up samba share exporting gpfs filesystem and I strugle with setting sharemode to yes. Samba is 3.6.5, gpfs version is 3.2.1-29 (the latest available for 3.2 branch). Everything works fine when sharemode is set to no, but I'd rather insist to switch it to yes. That's what man page says: no - do not propagate sharemodes across all GPFS nodes. This should only be

DM: samba 4.5 -> 4.8, guest access and machine account access troubles.
Hai Marco, Few pointers. First, time is in sync? I guess it is, but check it. Second. Guest access enabled on a domain joint PC ? If you really really want that, then enable user guest in the AD also. But better is avoiding Guest access completely. Join the domain, dont allow guest access and configure it correctly, best tip i can give, for the software deploying share. [wpkg] path

Problem After Upgrade - NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY
I'm running Samba 3.4.7 on Ubuntu 10.04. This is a recent upgrade and we've starting experience a sporadic problem after this upgrade. When users are browsing through Windows Explorer they sometimes run across folders that appear as unassociated files. This requires the user to click the 'Refresh' button in Windows Explorer to properly see the folders. The files and folders are
