you probably don't want the ~2% perf improvement below... but i figured i'd post it anyhow :) well... i do suggest the use of fabsf() rather than fabs() -- gcc doesn't seem smart enough to figure out fabs() when you ask it to compile "-mfpmath=sse". but the #else part uses properties of ieee-754 float layout which you may or may not be interested in (ab)using. basically

[LLVMdev] SimplifyLibCalls doesn't check TLI for LibFunc availability
Hi, It looks like SimplifyLibCalls has a tendency to emit calls to libm functions without checking with TLI whether these calls are available. For example, PowOpt has this code: struct PowOpt : public UnsafeFPLibCallOptimization { PowOpt(bool UnsafeFPShrink) : UnsafeFPLibCallOptimization(UnsafeFPShrink) {} virtual Value *callOptimizer(Function *Callee, CallInst *CI, IRBuilder<> &B)

2 questions about compiling the source
Hi all, Q1: The source defined this structure in the psy.h file: typedef struct{ int eighth_octave_lines; float preecho_thresh[4]; float postecho_thresh[4]; float preecho_minenergy; float ampmax_att_per_sec; int delaycache; } vorbis_info_psy_global; However, the file psytune.c makes this declaration: tatic vorbis_info_psy_global _psy_set0G={ 0, /*

libvorbis without encapulsation
Using libvorbis (1.3.5) I wish to extract the raw vorbis packets.  I've built some simple code on the excellent libvorbis API overview on the xiph.org site, but the example relies on the ogg_packet struct for final output and input to decoder, and shows now examples on how to do without it. Taking a look at the vorbis_bitstream_flush() function, which in the overview is the last step before

Overflow in psy.c
In beta 3 (Windows, libvorbis-1.0beta3.zip, compiled using BCB), I get a runtime overflow on line 322 when encoding a simple pure tone (44100Hz, 96kbps, 128kbps, or 160kbps). Changing the float to a double avoids the problem. float val=decay[i]*decscale; float att=fabs(f[i]/val); /// floating point overflow ... Chris http://www.goldwave.com --- >8 ---- List archives:

Possible bug in psy.c
Hi all, I'm quite new to Vorbis, so please excuse me if I'm writing complete nonsense (and, if possible, tell me where I'm wrong). While searching for optimization possibilities in lib/psy.c, I found the following piece of code in _vp_compute_mask(): if(p->vi->smoothp){ /* compute power^.5 of three neighboring bins to smooth for peaks that get split twixt

psy version 0.65 released
Dear R users, psy version 0.65 is on CRAN now. psy provides several methods used in psychometry (kappa, icc, cronbach, screeplot (with simulations), non linear mapping, etc.) A bug has been fixed in function wkappa (weighted kappa): in particular circumstances, the 2*2 table presented levels in an order different to what was suggested in the help file. vectorized uni-root?
dear R experts--- I have (many) unidimensional root problems. think loc.of.root <- uniroot( f= function(x,a) log( exp(a) + a) + a, c(.,9e10), a=rnorm(1) ) $root (for some coefficients a, there won't be a solution; for others, it may exceed the domain. implied volatilities in various Black-Scholes formulas and variant formulas are like this, too.) except I don't need 1 root, but a

Mouse Problem in Psi-Ops
I'm running Psi-Ops in Ubuntu 8.04 with Wine 1.1.2. When I'm playing, whenever I spin around the character, it stops from the left or to the right and also looking up and down when I move the mouse to far up or down. This is really annoying when moving around and trying to throw things. Is there anyway to fix this? I tried changing Graphics settings in the Wine Configurations under Window

New psi with rlm
Hi, How can I define a new psi function in the rlm comand? In particular I would like to implement the case for \rho(u)=0.5*(u^2) and \psi(u)=u in order to assume normally distributed errors. Any help? Thanks -- ======================================================== Angelo Secchi PGP Key ID:EA280337
