perl module to parse httpd log on C5
hello,
Looking for alternative ideas to parse the combined Apache log:
/var/log/httpd/access_log (is how I named it)
What I've tried so far is a CPAN search, which pointed me to a recently
created module called ApacheLog::Parser

perl 5.8.5-36.el4_5.2
Hi all,
Since upgrading to perl 5.8.5-36.el4_5.2 I have had no end of problems,
starting with needing compress::zlib which I got from rpmforge, then I
had to reinstall scalar::util to get mailscanner working but now I can't
install or upgrade any perl modules.
Has anyone else had problems or can someone tell me what I've done wrong
please?
regards

Samba/ldap install script from k12osn perl problems
There has been some very good work by a few people over in k12osn for
setting up a SAMBA PDC/BDC environment.
Thing is their scripts are for Fedora core 3.
There are instructions on how to get things to go step by step instead
of use the Fedora-based script, so I gave it a try.
Step 1 is to get apt running and everything current. I assumed yum would
do instead.
step 2 has:

I ran this:
your_host]# *perl -MCPAN -e shell*
cpan shell -- CPAN exploration and modules installation (v1.76)
ReadLine support enabled
cpan> *install Net::SNMP
seemed to work. no errors reported.
however when I run perl I still get the same error saying needs
./sendmessage.pl

Installing RSPerl and Statistics::R
Hi list,
For my research, I started using R as a statistics engine, driven by
perl scripts that manage my data and computational jobs. I recently
upgraded my cluster to Suse 9.2, and obviously wanted to upgrade R to
it's latest version, 2.1.1. Installation of R-2.1.1 went flawlessly
thanks to the rpm's created by Detlef Steuer (see cran, thanks Detlef).
To interface perl and R, two

C5 64-bit on Dell not seeing 1 GB link
I've got a Dell Precision Workstation 490 with 64-bit Centos 5, fully
updated, with an on-board Broadcom 57xx gigabit Ethernet controller,
updated BIOS, 1 GB switch, and /var/log/messages and dmesg both claim the
link is 100 Mb, not 1 GB.
I tried setting eth0 to mtu 9000 but got an error in going so.
What do I need to do to have the card see 1 gb?
Thanks.

why type "perl -MCPAN -e shell" -> "install XML::Simple" on CentOS 5?
I'm running nmap2nagios.pl, and I notice that on CentOS 5, I had to
run the following to get it working (when I didn't have to do the same
on CentOS 4)
perl -MCPAN -e shell
(answer questions)

PERL module woes
Hi,
I'm using CentOS 4.3 on all my PC's, and I'm very happy with it.
Everything *just* works.
I want to give DVD::RIP 0.97.10 a try. I enabled rpmforge and kbs repos,
but there's only 0.52.2 available, which has an annoying bug in it. So I
installed the main dependency, transcode, via yum. Then I downloaded the
(PERL) sources of DVD::RIP 0.97.10, ran configure (e. g. perl

CPAN module install problem
I could use some assistance getting CPAN functional again. CPAN stopped
working on Centos 4.2 x64, and I can no longer install modules. I did a
install Bundle::CPAN and upgraded to 1.8.2, and perl was updated
afterwards via yum update. The error seems related to GPG, does anyone
know if 1.8.2 added new restrictions on signatures?

Help With Glade and C5 64-bit?
I have a user with C5.4 64-bit, fully updated, performed a yum install
glade, it claimed to have installed everything, but we cannot get it
to run. Neither whereis nor locate revleal an executable.
We obtained the latest glade source from the project's web site,
attempted to configure it, until it complained of needed dependencies,
namely gtk+ (newer than what was on the system). So I got

Bugzilla Install problems - need last mile help
I've freshly installed CentOS 5 32-bit on a pc, performed a yum update and yum
upgrade. I then did a yum install of mysql.
I finally picked up fresh copies of phpmysql and bugzilla and put both in my
/var/www/html directory. mysql is running. I am able to use mysql -u root to
get into it, and phpmysql is able to get it, too.
After runs of checksetup.pl to ensure all required

Perl Module Question
To safely make Perl modules from CPAN in Solaris, I used this procedure:
mkdir /opt/cpan
chmod 777 /opt/cpan
chown joe:101 /opt/cpan
PERL5LIB=$PERL5LIB:/opt/cpan
export PERL5LIB
/usr/perl5/bin/perlgcc -MCPAN -e shell
Also, ~/.cpan/CPAN/MyConfig.pm specifically had
'makepl_arg' => q[LIB=/opt/cpan PREFIX=/opt/cpan INSTALLMAN3DIR=/opt/cpan/man/man3],
Does this make sense in CentOS as

Openwebmail emergency (Perl)
After system update yesterday, Openwebmail now gives an error:
> Undefined subroutine &Compress::Zlib::memGzip called at /var/www/cgi-bin/openwebmail/shares/ow-shared.pl line 1175.
I tried to do
perl -MCPAN -e shell
install Compress::Zlib
But it says Compress::Zlib is up-to-date. What do to?? I cannot find an
answer by googling.
