svm in e1071 package: polynomial vs linear kernel
I am trying to understand what is the difference between linear and
polynomial kernel:
linear: u'*v
polynomial: (gamma*u'*v + coef0)^degree
It would seem that polynomial kernel with gamma = 1; coef0 = 0 and degree
= 1
should be identical to linear kernel, however it gives me significantly
different results for very simple
data set, with linear kernel

RODBC sqlQuery insert slow
Large for loops are slow. Try to avoid them using apply, sapply, etc.
I've made the paste statements a lot shorter by using collapse. See

I think this is about the following line in debian/rules:
optimflags = `DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS=optimize=-lto dpkg-buildflags --get CFLAGS`

[PATCH] smallft.c
Hi,
I'm re-posting this; the first post
was filtered because I wasn't a member
of the mailing list...
I have a small diff for Vorbis
which replaces some loops with memcpy.
This allows us to take advantage of
memcpy's optimisations when copying
the floating point data.
Does this look OK?

[PATCH 0/3] v2v: Miscellaneous refactoring and fixes.
Originally an attempt to fix:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1570407
However this isn't a complete fix. The OVA supplied doesn't even
conform to VMware's own "specification" (I use the word loosely). The
OVF inside the OVA references the disk.vmdk file, but the OVA doesn't
contain that disk.vmdk file, only a snapshot called
disk.vmdk.000000000. Therefore

[PATCH 02/10] builder: create and use a new Checksums module

Memory "leak" in readChar (PR#1483)
Full_Name: Hugh C. Pumphrey
Version: 1.4.1
OS: Linux (Debian Woody)
Submission from: (NULL) (129.215.133.170)
The function readChar() appears to have some type of problem with memory
allocation.
I don't know if "memory leak" is the correct term but if one uses readChar()
many
times, the R binary grows in size until it eats all your memory and swap space.
The code enclosed below

[PATCH 1/4] mllib: move Checksums from builder
Move the Checksums module from virt-builder mostly as it is; the only
change is that on checksum mismatch an exception is raised rather than
invoking "error" directly: this way users of verify_checksum &
verify_checksums can do their own handling of the situation.

nutdrv_qx interface change proposal item_t::preprocess
Hi and thank you for your effort.
You are very close to what I want to achieve, but I was already aware of
the impossibility of querying direct from a command. I wanted the
following (both would be covered by your changes):
1. preprocess an item_t in the direction: NUT->DEVICE
in order to be able to support queries like ups.generated.yesterday

[PATCH 04/10] builder: internally use a list of checksums for indexes
Extend Index_parser.entry to hold a list of checksums to validate, and
validate all of them.
This does change nothing currently, as only sha512 is read, while still
allowing us to fetch more checksums if needed.

Applications start with title bar grayed
When I try to start notepad, it starts with a grayed title bar,
like it wasnt active. I cant enter text into the input window.
Strange thing, menus work.
To get it look like active and type text, I must select the system menu
and "About wine".
After closing the new window (that has appeared as active), i see that
notepad appears
active and I can enter text.
Has someone this issue ?

Hi,
I would like to propose an interface change/extension, in order to be
able to clearly differ from a PRE_SEND and a POST_RECEIVE
item_t->preprocess-ing calls.
IMHO there is no option to differ from item->preprocess(..), called from
[1] and called from [2], at the moment. My idea is to extend the
item_t->preprocess(..) with an additional
