Splicing audio clips into one stream
Is there a Linux tool that will splice several gsm sound clips together into one clip? In my agi script, I would like to use 'get_data' with one clip instead of multiple 'stream_file' so the user doesn't have to listen to the entire spiel before responding. Huge resource of images, video, and sound clips?
I''m building a rails app that basically allows the user to build lessons plans for their students. It''s web based and it''s specifically tailored for these type of teachers. The only problem is that any images, video, or sound has be found or added by them. This doubles and sometimes triples the amount of time it should take to create a lesson plan. So we want to add a

can you suggest on extending ogg as short-clip container and the make of its tool?
Hello. I am thinking of developing a tool for computer game makers, enabling them using an ogg file to hold a collection of very short context audio clips. I am looking for suggestion on usefulness of the tool once it is made, and its design. By "very short context audio" I mean the audio clips that usually is the response to a mouse-click or key press. e.g. a clicking sound, a

Question/Feature Request
Using Ices2, is it possible to take 2 mono sources that are presented to the soundcard as the left and right channel, and make each of them a seperate mount point? My sources are all low bandwidth mono, and I would love to have a second stream without having to add a second soundcard or a second machine. I looked through the documentation, but I don't recall seeing this specific ability.

I think everyone, including you, will be a lot happier if you store each sound effect clip in its own file. This is a common practice

how to create an mpeg4 mimetype (OT)
Hi All, I think this may be off topic, but since it's through centos 5.2, I'm not sure. Here is what I would like to do: I have created a web page for family to log into and view clips of my new niece. My camera saves these clips in mpeg4 format. What I would like to do is have the web clients click on the link and have either the clip pop up a save dialog or even better, start

video codec comparisons
Reviewers who have published comparisons of video codecs recently tend not to publish their source video clip, nor encoded video clips.? It might help promote theora if there was a link we could provide to a nice source clip, only one or two minutes long with a mix of action and talking head spots, with several versions of it compressed in theora format; maybe 250 kbps, 500 kbps, 750 kbps, 1 mbps,

Audio/video recording software
Hi everyone! :-) I am supposed to get (for the first time) into the world of making youtube clips. I have a webcam, a microphone and a big hard drive configured and ready. The question is: what would you suggest as an easy-to-use yum-installable app that could handle a couple of minutes/hours of recording? People who are about to use it are complete noobs, and I would like to give them a

[Bug 13364] rsyncd clips trims relative symlinks outside of source tree
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13364 --- Comment #3 from Chris Severance <samba.severach at spamgourmet.com> --- >enable munge-symlinks. That way the client will get back the same out-of-tree symlink as it started with This is a lousy option for backups. The only way to get my original links back is to pull the restore through rsync. Restoring directly from the rsyncd server

WIFI phones on asterisk
I have used WIP300, hitachi 5000 wireless phones on asterisk and have had good success. However, I am looking for a WIFI phone with integrated belt clip. Has anyone found any? I have tried after market clips and holders and those just don't work. THanks for sharing if someone has found something that works with asterisk. Jerry

FYI: tagesschau.de partly with Ogg Theora
The news site of Germany's main public television station ARD now has some short clips in Ogg Theora: http://www.tagesschau.de/tagesschau24/ These are the "news in 100 seconds" clips, which are also available in mp4/h264. Curiosuly longer video-news are available as either flash or wmv? Regards, Hannes

Theora Intra (ptalarbvorm) vs. MJPEG
In the discussion of having a freedom-friendly camcorder or other video device, we discussed the idea of using intra-only Theora video to make post-recording editing a much easier process, allowing things like frame-by-frame editing without the need to decode and reencode the video again, thus incurring loss. I was quite skeptical of the efficiency of intra-only Theora, and I had speculated that
