All,
Mongrel 1.1.3
Rails 2.0.2
Ruby 1.8.6
Windows XP SP2
When I issue the command "ruby script/server" from any of my Rails
projects on v. 2.0.2, I get a Windows dialog with the error:
"The application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Faking system time
Hello all.
I am trying to use WINE to make a windoze-only development environment (very rudimentar, command line cross-compiler and stuff)
under Linux, because GNU make is far superior from the M$'s 'nmake'.
Anyway, I have some trouble with expirating licenses and stuff, and the solution is to revert the system date back to some
valid thing and then compile.
Since I am now running

Windows build with Visual Studio 2005 - some success
Hi all,
first up, big thanks to Dave for doing the hard work of porting
Lucene. I have come to love Lucene through my Java work and was
extremely pleased to find the Ferret project for Ruby.
Now, I am tinkering with building the C extension using Visual Studio 2005.
So far, I have had some success in getting something built and working
in my Rails app (diffs attached). I am also encountering a

install ferret on windows
Hi!
I''m trying to install ferret on windows, so I chose
ferret-0.10.9-mswin32.gem from the download page, as it includes a
already pre-compiled ferret_ext.so (is that correct?) and I don''t have
any C compiler here. The gem installed it correctly, but the test didn''t
work. So I called these commands:
rake ext
ruby setup.rb config
ruby setup.rb setup
ruby setup.rb

[PATCH] Add Visual Studio 2008 Prject files
What's wrong with a plain old .bat file, or even an NMAKE .mak file? Ship two files, debug.bat and release.bat, and call it good.
It is best to leave project-file creation up to individual users, in my opinion. MS changes their IDEs and project-file formats more often than most people change their underwear. The odds that any given open-source project will actually compile without any

mongrel install on win32 XP problems
I can''t get mongrel installed on a Win XP. I keep getting some unknown
error with this "win32-service-0.5.2". While it states results are
logged, the file is empty - not much help. I even tried complete
uninstall of ruby and reinstalled ruby 1.8.5-21. But no luck.
Oddly, I had no problem installing earlier on a Win 2K machine. Is
there something special about XP?

Native Extensions on Windows 0.10 series
Hi all,
I''ve just noticed that 0.10 is out and wanted to give it a try on windows.
I''m not at all an VS C++ Developer so I might do something very stupid here.
My env: Windows Server 2003
VS .NET 2003
On the command line with nmake from VC7 in the path this is what I get:

wine / vcvarsall.bat
Hi there,
I am trying to play with wine and I cannot figure out how to read a
bat file that would define some env var for me. I followed
instructions from:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14208
And everything seems to be installed nicely for me (thanks to winetricks !):
$ find ~/.wine | grep nmake

I think TrollTech deserves a prize for their accomplishment in making
qmake even worse than autotools (I'm using it for something else and
wish I wasn't -- Qt itself is fine though). I've heard good things about

Problem compiling Wine with Freetype on Ubuntu Hardy 64
I have a problem compiling Wine with Freetype. Not sure what to do:
dpkg -i wine*.deb
Code:
checking for freetype-config... freetype-config
checking for -lfreetype... not found
configure: error: FreeType development files not found.
Fonts will not be built. Dialog text may be invisible or unaligned.
Use the --without-freetype option if you really want this.

mongrel vs. scgi
I''ve liked the scgi runner ever since it came out. I like the way it''scontrolled, the way it''s clusterable, and the fact that it runs onwin32 platforms so easily.
Now it''s May 2006, and the scgi runner hasn''t changed since October, and now we have mongrel. I keep seeing hints of clustering in mongrel,as well. I just downloaded the win32 installer for

Libtheora
Hi all,
I am Sahana. I am currently working on Libtheora for windows platform and
very new to it. I am getting a lot of compiling errors. Since Libtheora
depends on libogg and libvorbis i have added these as well to my workspace
in VC++ 6. I have a doubt regarding the x86 and x86_vc folders described in
the libtheora software.Since both these folders have the same set of files

Patch for cross compilation with MinGW32
Hello,
I had some difficulties compiling the current git (
http://git.xiph.org/?p=flac.git;a=commit;h=a7e3705d051bafd1cae90f6605287cc1d9f2a18d
) using the Ubuntu 12.04 supplied MinGW32 cross compiler:
I configured the FLAC build with --host=i586-mingw32msvc
--target=i586-mingw32msvc --build=i586-linux but ran into several linker
problems. Are these options somehow wrong? It worked fine when

[LLVMdev] Building LLVM 3.3 on Win64
I'm trying to build LLVM 3.3 using cmake/nmake, Microsoft C++ 2012, on a
64-bit Windows 7 system. I tried it with the 32-bit compiler as a test case
first and that appeared to work, then with the 64-bit compiler in the hope
that would give me a 64-bit build of LLVM, but instead got this error
message:

[PATCH][git-pull] win64/find-mingw64.sh: Debian/Ubuntu
git://git.zytor.com/users/genec/syslinux.git
Branch win64-mingw32-ubuntu-for-hpa
This adds the compiler prefix used in Debian/Ubuntu to the list
(amd64-mingw32msvc-).
Too bad /bin/sh doesn't support brace expansion.
