NFS deadlock on 9.2-Beta1
Two machines (NFS Server: running ZFS / Client: disk-less), both are running FreeBSD r253506. The NFS client starts to deadlock processes within a few hours. It usually gets worse from there on. The processes stay in "D" state. I haven't been able to reproduce it when I want it to happen. I only have to wait a few hours until the deadlocks occur when traffic to the client machine

Error in FrF2 example on Mac OS
Dear all,
I just noticed that the 0.9 update for FrF2 did not work out for Mac OS due
to an error in an example that ran without error on all other platforms. I
do not find any reason for this. In the past, umlauts or tab characters have
sometimes been an issue, but I didn't find any of these. The function
definition is
FrF2(nruns = NULL, nfactors = NULL, factor.names = if

PuppetDB http web interface user access
Hi All,
Has anyone figured out a nice way to restrict user access to puppetdb''s
http web interface? Such as a .htaccess method or something similar? I
would prefer something along
those lines instead of setting up firewall rules.

commandArgs()
Apologies for asking about this, but I don't quite understand how
this works after looking through the FAQ and the Help archives.
Let's say I want to pass "1000" as an argument to R. I did the
following:
>R CMD BATCH --1000 infile outfile
When I do print( commandArgs() ), I see
[1] ".../R.bin" "--restore"
[3] "--save"

how to "hide" mailbox from the IMAP clients
Hello, everyone!
Is it possible to "hide" mailbox from the IMAP clients, so as to prevent
any user from subscribing to the some folders?
My storages are "mbox maildir".
For example, to hide the directory where the personal Sieve scripts are
stored or etc.

repeatable crash on RELENG7
While trying to speed up nanobsd builds, I mounted /usr/obj on a
ramdisk and found my box crashing. Thinking it might be hardware, I
tried a separate machine, but with the same results. I have 4G of
ram (i386). Am I just running out of some kernel memory ? If so, is
there anything I can adjust to prevent this, yet still use mfs in this way ?

devd question
I'm trying to make devd run an stty command whenever a USB serial device
is attached. Unfortunately, $device-name is ucom[0-9] and the device
names are /dev/cuaU[0-9] - how do I get the correct name in the device
action? I haven't found a way to extract the number by itself, so I'm
stuck with specifying a separate rule for each number, like so:
attach 100 {

Code find exact distribution for runs test?
I've been attempting to understand the one-sample run test for
randomness. I've found run.test{tseries} and run.test{lawstat}. Both
use a large sample approximation for distribution of the total number
of runs in a sample of n1 observations of one type and n2 observations
of another type.
I've been unable to find R code to generate the exact distribution and
would like to see how

dlopen-ing a library with OpenMP by a non-OpenMP process
Hello!
Currently, when a program built without OpenMP (-fopenmp) is trying to
dlopen a library, built with the feature, the result is a crash from
"bad system call":

fsck_ufs locked in snaplk
Colleagues,
one of my servers had to be rebooted uncleanly and then I have backgrounded
fsck locked for more than an our in snaplk:
742 root 1 -4 4 1320K 688K snaplk 0:02 0.00% fsck_ufs
File system in question is 200G gmirror on SATA. Usually making a snapshot
(e.g., for making dumps) consumes 3-4 minutes for that fs, so it seems to me
that filesystem is in a deadlock.

Update A Compiled Version
I'm pretty new to compiling software, although I would rather compile my
own Samba 4.0.0 server rather than wait for it to become available in the
repositories of my distribution. How do you update compiled software. Like
if I compile and install Samba 4.0.0, and then 4.0.1 comes out, Is there a
way to update to that without starting from scratch and having to rebuild
my domain? Thanks

creating a ps. file
Dear all
I wrote a routine. At the end of each cycle of the loop I would like to
save the result (plot) in a postcriptfile.
Of course if I just use dev.print in the following way:
dev.print(device=postcript, 'c:/Rfigures/plot_1.ps")
I overwrite my results with the second cycle of the loop. I suppose
there is a way to define the file name so that several plots are

Users and groups without Winbind
I'm just curious how this works. I've set up an Active Directory Domain
controller using Samba 4.0.0. I DO NOT have Winbind configured. When I run
"ls -al /samba/share/directory" I notice that I have users named like
3000000 belonging to the group "users". Without windbind configured, how do
I have users and groups inside of my Samba domain (for instance the

Failing to understand getrusage()
I'm failing to understand how getrusage() works, which is a bit perplexing,
because it doesn't seem like it would be terribly complicated.
I've attached the code. My aim is to verify that I can use getrusage() to
do (admittedly crude) instrumentation of which functions in my program are
allocating lots of memory[1]. So I figure I can call getrusage() at various
points and look at

liveice problem
Hello everybody...
I figure this is not exactly an icecast question, but maybe
someone might be able to help.
Icecast runs nicely as far as I can see, and so does liveice,
apart from the fact I don't get any input signal fed into it. I
think it's due to the fact it expects the signal on line in by
default and the souncard only has a mic in. So I tried to use
the built in mixer mode,

FS Quota broken for delivering BIG message
Hi everybody.
I have Linux file system quota for users and enabled "fs quota" and quota
plugin for LDA. My test user is already deep over quoted:
---
Filesystem blocks quota limit
nfse:/export 23768* 10240 10240

1. If I tries to deliver _short_ message to user mbox - quota works:
$ echo "123123123123" | /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -d koc
