Cleanup: Killing the old XSPF mailing list?
I mean this one:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/xspf/
It has 6 messages in total. The reason
why I think we should kill it is that
it potentially confuses people looking
the XSPF mailing list.
What do you think? Who has is able to
such a cleanup task?

Well, I created a logo last year, but the community voting wasn't
favorable, so it has never become official. If you would like to use
it, however, it's available under the Public Domain, so go for it.

xspf.xsl
Hi,
Trying to use XSPF as playlist generator in Icecast I noticed the XSPF
link in the admin pages doesn't work.
I used the lastest SVN checkout.
I think it's just the simple case of the xspf.xsl file not being copied to
the installation directory on 'make install'.
I copied the file to share/icecast/admin/ and the link works just fine.

Generation of M3U and XSPF
I assume you have already tried setting the <hostname> section in the
config, and that it doesn't work?
http://icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.3.2/icecast2_config_file.html#misc
In that case, perhaps Icecast is picking up the server name from the http
headers. Can you get your proxy to re-write the headers in the request?
Otherwise, you could just generate local m3u/xspf files for each

How's XSPF support on Icecast if any?
I'm just checking. Icecast is supposed to export M3U playlists, as
far as I know. I have to confess, I have never used the program, so
get ready for lots of me saying ignorant crap.
OK, ready? Does Icecast support anything to do with XSPF? If it
does, does it do it by default? I mean, we are supposed to set the
example and provide the user with our formats by default, right?

XSPF file
I have figured out, that it is possible to get a xml file, if you add .xspf
to the end of the stream url.
This file includes the number of current listeners and max connections, what
I don't want that this information goes public!
How can I edit the information, which is displayed in the xsl file?
Thanks for your support,

Wiki mainpage, pheora software, people page, admin rights
Hello!
I'd like to add the missing link for "TheoraSoftwarePlayers"
to the mainpage. I don't feel like asking Ivo for doing Wiki
edits every time is a long term solution. Can you give me
admin rights for the Xiph wiki?
I'd also like to link to the People page from the front
page. Any idea what section I should put that link in?
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

Blog post about Theora and MSVC assembly
Hello!
I wrote a blog post requesting help for Theora
on MSVC-syntax assembly. This is my first time
speaking for Xiph instead of just myself so
please teach me what to do better next time.
(Better offlist probably.)
My post might contain a few interesting bits for
Xiph members as well. It can be found here:

Generation of M3U and XSPF
Hello,
I'm a new user of icecast which is a really cool software.
I use it with the the http proxy module of apache httpd to do port
forwarding with 2 sub domains.
On my router i forward all tcp traffic of the port 80 to my server.
2 Sub domains are redirected to my server :
radio.mydomain.com (icecast)
music.mydomain.com (ampache)
my apache server host the ampache application with a

[rfc] Order of projects in download section
Any objections to sorting the list of projects on
http://xiph.org/downloads/
alphabetically?
This is the order that we have currently:
libogg
libvorbis
vorbis-tools
libtheora
libspeex
libflac
libao
libxspf
vorbis-java
I can do it if you let me.

I heard about aoTuV...
... and was wondering how it differs from the official
libvorbis and why there is need for a fork.
Could somebody shed some light on the past and background
of the libvorbis/aoTuV story please? Both on- and offlist
mails are welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

vs2005 project file output dir inconsistency
I just checked out trunk/vorbis to build the latest libvorbis, and
noticed an inconsistency in the project settings.
For the two build configurations Debug and Release, we have as the
Output Directory "$(SolutionDir)$(ConfigurationName)", and the
Intermediate Directory "Debug". ("Release" for the Release configuration)
However, for the two build configurations

Issue with the "Xiph license"
Hello!
There is a problem with the current name of the "Xiph license".
All the variantions of this name out there imply at least one of
these two false assumptions:
* that the Xiph license would be a custom license not related
to the BSD license at all
* that the Xiph license would be based on BSD but is not the same
Both is wrong and both hurts Xiph. The license text is

The XSPF files are generated on the fly, yes.
Beware they are NOT intended for automatic processing. They are for
users to browse and click.
Also the URLs for those XSPF files are NOT stable and may change at

Anyone??
Hi Ivo,
This program is basically a configurable automation system for Ices. You
can (will be able to) use it to control what Ices plays and when. As such,
it really doesn't have anything to do with playlist file formats such as
XSPF, as all its data will be contained in a database.
It may be desirable for the system to be able to import lists of tracks etc
from existing playlist

Flash stream support
Not sure about what your client wants, but...
I can confirm that *some* flash players can handle mp3 streams
streamed by icecast or other stream engines - e.g. the XSPF Player :
http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/ .
<xspf specific>
For this one you just give the url of your mountpoint as parameter
(song_url). It doesn't work if you pass it thru the xspf playlist.
BTW, it doesn't

sftp
Hi,
What is the status on sftp ? People here who are not familiar with "command
line ftp" would like to use the new spiffy graphical sftp provided with
ssh.com new NT client.
As we are planning on replacing all our sshd with openssh, we need sftpd as
well.
Thanks,
Emmanuel
