Actionscript vorbis encoder
On a related note, the same authors have ported a vorbis encoder to Actionscript, and use it for streaming audio from their Hobnox tool. http://blog.andre-michelle.com/2008/first-audiotool-live-recorded- vorbis-encoded-session/ -r

GPLv3 and Mac OS X
This may have been raised before and if so I apologise for not being able to find it. I was wondering if someone on the list can please explain the relationship that GPLv3 has in preventing Apple from distributing updated builds with their operating systems. I've read over the GPLv3 (I'm not lawyer or anything) and I would guess it has something to do with the patent agreements? I'll

Linking libsmbclient with GPLv2 Code
Hello everyone, I'm not sure who to ask about this, but I have a licensing question. I'm writing a utility to allow Git to connect to SMB shares, which uses libsmbclient. I was thinking about using libgit2 in my program: http://libgit2.github.com/ . This library is licensed as GPLv2 only, with a linking exception to link to any program without restriction. My understanding is that, since

Centos7 & Selinux & Tor
I've just encountered a problem starting tor. When I do 'systemctl start tor' it fails and I get selinux errors in the log. There was suggestion to do full auditing with 'auditctl -w /etc/shadow -p w'. Which I did and it gave the following type=PROCTITLE msg=audit(1539540150.692:60570): proctitle=2F7573722F62696E2F746F72002D2D72756E61736461656D6F6E0030002D2

Samba 3.0.37 license confusion
Hello Jeremy and samba maintainers, I am using Samba 3.0.37 and I am confused about the license. On one hand both the COPYING file in the 3.0.37 tarball and your website indicates that version 3.0.37 is GPLv2. http://news.samba.org/announcements/samba_gplv3/ On the other hand, in the 3.0.37 tarball, there are many files with GPLv3 headers without any exception. For instance, several file in

MCMCglmm multinomial model results
Hi David, Thanks for your comment. I haven't posted the data because they are unpublished and include human subjects so there are issues with sharing on a list serv, but I thought perhaps someone had encountered a similar problem and would already know the answer. I will reconsider whether my University's ethics approval would allow me to post the data and update the question if I think

[LLVMdev] Extending AsmPrinterHandler
I work on the LLILC team, and we are trying to send debug line info through to the CoreCLR EE without using an EventListener because we need to send extra info (more than just available in DebugLoc) like if it’s a call instruction, a call site, etc. We thought extending AsmPrinterHandler would be useful since it seems to have information about debug locations, label offsets, and instruction

Using Dovecot code in a non-LGPL package
Hi Timo (and all!), Venaktesh is a friend of mine working on a patch to the venerable Alpine mail reader so it can read Maildir format mailboxes on disk. Venkatesh wanted to know if he could use some code from Dovecot's lib-storage (safely opening/reading Maildirs, including accounting for NFS and ESTALE) and the UID->message mapping code. This way, Dovecot and Alpine would agree on
