Vorbisfile: non-seekable
Hi, I use the following code: if (ov_open(NULL, &vf, const_cast<char*>(reinterpret_cast<const char*>(get_data())), get_size()) < 0) error = 0x100; else { vorbis_info* vi = ov_info(&vf, -1); Cvirtual_file f; const int cb_samples = ov_pcm_total(&vf, -1); const bool seekable = ov_seekable(&vf); So all data is already in memory and passed to

ov_open fails on Version 1.0.1
Hi, I've just got around to moving from version 1.0 to 1.0.1. Now when I run my program, at least on Windoze, (haven't tried Linux yet), I get an Access Exception on the ov_open. Nothing else has changed. All I did was replace the lib and dll files that are in the win32sdk zip and re-build all, so it's the same the project files for for both builds. Here the snippet of code that

Can vorbisfile read comments from an HTTP stream
Just noticed this article on Slashdot: http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/05/18/0432202 ...about the feasibility and efficiency of reading id3v2 tags out of mp3's over http. I know that vorbisfile's callback model is well suited to handling this sort of scenario, but I'm curious to know whether ov_open will try to read enough stream to pull the comments out on a

Continued:How can I seek in Ogg Vorbis file, but not using Vorbisfile library?
Hello, All. First, I want to thank Ian Malone and Ralph Giles, thanks for your kind replies. But I still have problems about seek. As you suggested, I could use ov_open_callbacks() to supply my own read/write/seek functions. So, can you give me an example? I?m sorry for my ignorance, because I haven?t used callbacks before. I analyzed the vorbisfile.c in Tremor, and I think I

Ogg files versus Ogg streams
Hi all, I'm very new to Ogg, and am learning about it in an attempt to stream it from a CF card through a microcontroller. This particular setup requires me to move parts of the file from the CF card to the microcontroller buffer, effectively making the file like a data stream. Also, should this question be directed at the Tremor group instead since that is the codec I'm using? It

Thoughts on vorbisfile
Hi all, While reading through various bits of libvorbis and vorbisfile, and then thinking about how to implement other features in the xmms and winamp plugins, I had some thoughts... Vorbisfile is very useful, and very easy to use. It is, however, tied to stdio - which means you can't use it for lots of other stuff where it'd be useful - like streaming, or (under win32) avoiding stdio

Ogg Format
Hello Jean-Marc, I suspected the answer to be No. For HMI panels, except for the capture pattern and a single page segment entry, other fields are not important, and which results in almost 7% overhead for a 20ms raw frame encoded with Opus. At the same time the file processing complexity is way too less considering that CRC's do not not need to be considered (programmer pods ensure that)

Tremor + upstream Ogg library
Hi vorbis experts! I'd like ot write application under Symbian that use theora as video codec & tremor as an audio one. I played at first with libogg & theora on PC, then successfully ported them both. Next I decided to port Tremor but I found that it use its own files from Ogg library. The API is almost identical, so I tried to bind the Tremor with upstream Ogg library (it actually

Query on Tremor-lowmem version
Hi, While following the developer mailing list, I came across "tremor-lowmem" version. I did some search of it in Xiph.org and "tremor" source code but wasn't able to find it. I would like to know if there is any separate thread for the "tremor-lowmem" version as we are working on the fixed point implementation of Vorbis code and we are looking forward for

vorbisfile updates, and a couple of questions
The changes to vorbisfile that I suggested earlier have now been committed - this is mostly a merge of my code with a similar patch from Martin Vogt (thanks Martin). The old ov_open() interface remains untouched - and for many people, this is all you'll need to use, ever. It now calls the new interface with appropriate arguments. The new ov_open_callbacks() function adds an extra argument to

Problem with 'ov_open'...
Hey, I've coded an OGG player for Win32 (it uses AL for playback so it's portable to Linux/Mac), but every time the program gets to the 'ov_open()' function, the app completely freezes, and I have to use the task-manager to kill it. I am supplying it with a valid file handle that was just opened (FILE*) and the vorbis file is also a pointer that is not in use (set to null). Any

ov_open/ov_test weirdness

libogg, libogg2, Tremor compatability
Hi, I've started working on libogg2 support in liboggz and Tremor support in libfishsound. I'm running into some problems with namespace clashes. Specifically, each of libogg, libogg2 and libvorbisidec (Tremor) define conflicting ogg_* symbols and declare incompatible ogg_* types in their headers. While I understand that a dedicated Ogg Vorbis decoder would only need to use one of these

Incompability between libvorbis and tremor from svn?
Hi, I'm experiencing a serious problem when trying to replace libvorbis with tremor (from svn): premitting that I don't want to use the ov_* functions, calling vorbis_synthesis_headerin() on the 3 initial packets works with libvorbis but immediately fails with tremor. At first sight it seems that the function in tremor either receives a leading \n before every header (that

New repo and moving tremor discussion here
All, I've consolidated our various svn branches of the fixed-point vorbis decoder (known as tremor or tremolo) into a single git repository, hoping that it facilitates review and merging of the various trees. In particular, android has a branch of Robin Watts' Tremolo code (arm-optimized tremor-lowmem) which I don't think anyone on the Xiph side has looked at. I used git-svn to

Massive Problems on Windows XP pro with Libvorbis[Vorbisfile]1.0.1
Hey there I'm using CodeWarrior8 for development on the windows platform and have been trying for some time now to add .ogg support to my engine project. First i had the problem quite a lot had out there with a crashing/freezing call to ov_open which i solved by recompiling those libs against the single-threaded variant of the core libs using VC++ 6 But now i have another problem. now every
