Vorbis decoder sample code
Hi,
I'm a Pocket PC developer and have created a audio translator application on this platform. I currently make use of
an MP3 decoder engine, but due to heavy licensing fees I'm thinking of switching over to a patent free format.
Vorbis presents the best approach.
I read that tremor decoder has been especially optimized for embedded devices. I'd like to make use of
this and

Output signal of the Tremor Codec
Hi,
I study electricity in the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland and I just began my diploma work: an embedded Internet Radio Receiver.
I want to use the Tremor Codec on a ARM7TDMI uc (Samsung S3C4510B). And I need to convert the decoded Vorbis signal in an I2S bus signal (clk, word-select, and data) with a CPLD (Xilinx SPARTAN II)
It will be helpfull if someone can explain

Help - libvorbis for the first time
Hello all,
I'm a newbie to the vorbis code, but I'm working on using it for a
senior project. I need to create an ogg player in C for an Analog
Devices Blackfin board. I'm not even sure where to start looking in
the code for the functions that I need to use.
Any direction would be really helpful - I can provide more specifics
about the project if it helps.
Thanks,
Robert

Query on Tremor-lowmem version
Hi,
While following the developer mailing list, I came across
"tremor-lowmem" version. I did some search of it in Xiph.org and
"tremor" source code but wasn't able to find it. I would like to know if
there is any separate thread for the "tremor-lowmem" version as we are
working on the fixed point implementation of Vorbis code and we are
looking forward for

Problems on TI DSP c6701
Hi all:
I am a newbie to vorbis, and I want to develop vorbis decoder onto TI c6701 evm board.
And I try the tremor code and libvorbis and the code from http://www.xiph.org/archives/tremor/200210/0001.html .
But all of them stll work good in MSVC but terrible in c6701.
I dont know wher the problem is??Problem of code or problem of memory allocation?? it decodes almost noise,....

about OGG
I downloaded C codes from http://www.xiph.org/ for OGG codec development,
and I use MS Visual C. Could anyone please give me some clues about what the
other C & header files I should include in the project? There should be
some many files I need to put them all together for running OGG decoding
and have a good study of them. I am trying hard to understand the
specification and to re-write

Where to put ported (embedded DSP) versions of Vorbis?
Hi all,
Sorry for the somewhat off-topic post, but I haven't come up with a
good answer to this question yet.
MDS did a port of Vorbis to the Philips TriMedia processors. Others
have taken that port and extended/fixed it a bit.
We provide the code to anyone who asks, but at this point we think it
would be better off in some sort of public repository so that patches
can be maintained,

Ogg Vorbis on DSP platform?
Hello,
I'd like to develop a codec for the Ogg Vorbis algorithm on a DSP
(controller?) hardware platform.
We've got 2 (3) main applications:
1) the codec should be used for 2 channel simultaneous message
recording/playback on flash EPROM.
2) the codec should be used for streaming audio over IP or Ethernet/intranet
networks.
3) for large system, the PC should serve as a storing device

This was also our experience porting the Tremor vorbis decoder to a TI
dsp. The vendor toolchain is useless; someone really needs to pay cygnus
to port gcc.

How can I minimize the memory use in Tremor?
Hi all,
I'm porting the Tremor code to an ARM platform. Unfortunately, we didn't use the low mem branch code for CPU performance consideration, and now I find the memory use in it is huge for the embedded system.
After looking into the code, I found the header parse, especially, the codebook unpack part takes a lot of memory. Tremor decodes the codebooks to a cache to store

How to perform a stepwise selection of the best models for gee?
Hi,
How to perform a stepwise selection of the best models for gee?
Why can't step() do this job?
Thanks.

Can nonlinear models be used in gee?
Hi all,
1. Can nonlinear models be used in gee? For example, I have a dataset which contains 2 variables x and y, I wrote
data(ex)
atttach(ex)
a<-100
b<- -0.5
c<-4.5
d<-20
Then:
a. y~gee(y~d+(a-d)/(1+(x/c)^b))
Error in terms.formula(formula, data = data) :
invalid power in formula
b. y~gee(y~d+(a-d)/(1+(x/c))
Error in model.frame(formula, rownames, variables, varnames, extras,

Is it possible to seek different Ogg Vorbis encoded packets from the File?
Hi All,
I am trying to program the 'Tremor' decoder onto an array of Processors.
I am using four Processors.
I did this experiment: I split the while(!eof){} in the main() in to
four tasks using if(!eof) statements. In this modification, each if()
decodes one packet of data at-a-time, sequentially. Then, I ran the code on
a single Processor and the decoding was successful. The

How many MIPS for Vorbis Decoder?
Hello,
I may be stupid, but I cannot find any data on how "expensive" the Vorbis
Decoder is. Looking for an embedded solution I am interested in how many
"MIPS" you need to decode a MONO audio stream at reasonable quality (44 kHz,
approx. 100 kbps?)
Can it be done in a microcontroller, or do I need ultra-expensive DSPs to do
it?
Thanks for hints

Why must you write it in assembly? What is wrong with running the C code
on a DSP? Sure you can improve the efficiency if you use assembly, but
why do you say it is *necessary*?

Optimizing Vorbis for a DSP
Hello all,
I have recently ported Vorbis to a Texas instruments DSP (TMS320C5510), The problem I have is that it is not decoding the audio in real time( about 50% of real time). Could any one give me a clue in which area I could start to optimize the code.
Regards

what is max and min bitrate supported in OggVorbis?
Hi All,
I am planning to implement Ogg Vorbis Decoder on a 24 bit DSP.
I have following doubts:
1) What is min and max bitrate?
2)What is max Audio Packet size ?
3)What is the max size of setup header?
4)Any idea how to start for making a 24Bit fixed point reference code?
Shall I start with floating point or Tremor or Tremor Low Mem Version?
5) What window sizes in Ogg Vorbis are normally
