why iriver's ifp series with limitation on ogg/vorbis support
Hi all, I buy a iriver's ifp-880 portable player, it only can play ogg file with bitrate 96kbps-325kbps. I know that the higher bitrate of file, the more cpu cycles to comsume in most case. For beyond 325kbps,I guess the chip (pnx0101) can't realtimely decode. But for ogg file below 96kbps, the cpu performance maybe isn't the bottleneck, and I suspect because of the limitation of

Add text/numbers to x axis?
Is there any simple way to add text to the x axis in R? I have tried to add simple characters in R without any greater sucess. As an example of what I want to do is the added C in the following "dumb" plot (produced with MacAnova using the option "dumb:T"): ++------+-------+------+-------+------+-------+------+-------++ 1+ :

Calculating encoded file size with different format
Hi there, Irealized different codecs can encode achieve different compression ration with different files. The point is a wma *can* result in a smaller file fo one song. For another one (all other thng like bitrate... being equal), mp"pro or vorbi or whatever you like can encode better. I guess it is possible to calculate the average resulting size using different encoders _before_ encoding

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
> hmmm.. very interesting.. any info on how they've done the licensing ? No idea how the licensing works. If it's free for the streamer then that may destroy Vorbis's inroads into streaming. I'm hoping that Monty and others can improve Vorbis to start competing with AAC+ at low bitrates. Monty said he had some ideas but I wonder if anything is being worked on presently.

Thanks to my provider, my old email alias (hongli@telekabel.nl) had been deleted. I need a Information for Ogg Vorbis.
I want to understand Ogg vorbis format and develope ogg vorbis's player in my embedded system. So I want know about "Vorbis bitstream mapping" and Structure in detail. But the links are broken in www.xiph.org. I had read overview of ogg vorbis and understood what ogg vorbis want to be. What's the first step? I think it is study the file format and source code. Formats other than Vorbis in Ogg
I have a question about Ogg. (which, ironically, means i'm posting to the wrong list. I don't know of an Ogg list though, and if i'm posting to the wrong list, please inform and forgive me) A while back I read how some of the developers had added MIDI support to the Ogg stream format. While just in early stages, this reminded me of a thought that had been passing through my

Server-side streaming roundup
Hi Icecasters! I'm trying to gather information about the open source streaming scene (server-side) and, well, I consider three contenders (am I missing one?) for the "best streaming architecture". They are (in no particular order)... - (Vorbis's)? Icecast 2.0 + Ices - Apple's Darwin Streaming Server (Quicktime Streaming Server) 4.1 - Real's Helix Platform My study

Problem with decoding number of codebooks
Hello, I'm trying to write a Vorbis decoder (just as a hobby) but I've got a problem with reading the setup header. According to the Vorbis documentation the first data that should be read after the initial 'vorbis' string is an eight bit integer which when incremented by one, contains the number of codebooks in the header. My problem is that whenever I read this number it seems

Opus now supported at Magnatune

optimization progress
Hi all, The decoder is down 30% execution time, identical bit output. Didn't get the mdct yet; 1024 point mdct is a bit much to brute-force, and I'm not going to hand-unroll the whole thing either (the machine- unrolled version produced a 1.5M executable; understandably, it wasn't very fast. Still waiting for processors with 1.5M L1 code caches ;-) Slowest parts now are: -- mdct --

Where are the Portable Devices at vorbis.com ?
Hi Vorbis-ers, It has been a while since I have checked out the Ogg Vorbis resources. http://vorbis.com is looking great! It is a shame though that portable (and other devices) that support Ogg Vorbis well are not celebrated on the home page. I know there is an extensive list at http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/PortablePlayers, but it is overwhelming in its completeness, and may not be immediately

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
Just so you know the what's happening with the competition, Nullsoft has released Shoutcast DSP v1.90 supporting AACPlus encoding for free. http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/shoutcast-dsp-1-9-0-windows.exe The shoutcast website hasn't been updated yet. You need Winamp v5.1 which includes the AAC+ encoder DLL. Regards, Ross.

Question on the nature of b3/b4 changes
I have a number of .ogg files encoded with b2, and some with b3. Is the psychoacoustic model in the forthcoming b4 significantly improved over these builds, such that re-encoding these files would give me either noticeably better sound, or smaller files? Also, just out of curiousity, will b4-encoded files be playable with older WinAmp plugins? Incidentally, I did some tests with b2 a while back

[ARM][FFT][NEON] Integrate Ne10 into Opus?
Hi everyone, I am working on Ne10 project. Ne10 provides NEON optimized FFT routines that are much faster (compared to those without NEON), on most ARMv7-A and all ARMv8-A devices. How about integrate it into Opus? I am not familiar with configure script, but I find "Optinal Packages" in it. If we provides --with-ne10-fft option, the one extra thing that users need to do is to

Performance of low quality / low sample rate
Hi everyone. I did a rough recording of an instrumental (electric piano sound) & e-mailed it to a friend in Vorbis 11025 Hz / mono. I was seeking a bitrate in the range 8-16k/sec. The song is 2:55 in length. q=-1 happily achieved a 12.6k/sec bitrate. All file sizes I mention in this are for files without informational tags. And I hope this isn't interpreted as trying to plug my music or
