libao patch
I hope this is the right place to submit libao patches -- the
freshmeat page points to ogg vorbis as the homepage for libao.
Currently, at least on my system (SB Live Value!, ALSA .9 branch),
stuff going to alsa sounds *awful* because of too-small buffers.
mpg321 and similar programs are unusable, and none of them seem to
want to let you set the buffer size. This patch lets an environment

libao alsa output
Hi,
I sent the below a few days ago. It still hasn't turned up in the
archive so i'm trying again.
Since the first mail was sent, i've found out that removing the call to
*_set_periods and *_set_period_size is a better solution to the
problem. It seems that the alsa defaults are better than what ever fine
tuning the code is trying to do.

libao NAS compilation and playback issues
I saw that libao has a NAS plugin and wanted to try it out, especially
with ogg123. However, I had/have several problems. My platform is
Solaris 9/SPARC 12/02, NAS 1.6, libao 0.8.5, curl 7.10.8, libogg 1.1,
libvorbis 1.0.1, and vorbis-tools 1.0.1.
PROBLEM ONE:

I had to specify LDFLAGS="-lXt -lsocket -lm" before running ./configure
with "--enable-nas" in order

Mac OS X DP4 patches
I've tweaked Tim Wood's Mac OS X DP4 patches so they compile and
run reasonably well on OS X DP4 and added a couple minor tweaks
of my own. I've placed diffs from the head revision in cvs at
my web site:
<http://www.gizzywump.com/vorbis-macosx-diffs>
This includes a new file at vorbis-tools/libao/ao_macosx.c,
which is in the diff.
Note that "patch" doesn't seem

libao on Debian
Hi,
I've just installed libao-1.1.0 on a new Debian install.
I also have alsa 1.0.27.1 installed.
Debian is running under VirtualBox 4.2.12 under OSX 10.6.8, on a MacBookPro.
libao does not work in stereo for the sampling rate of 44100, but it
does for 8000, 11025, 22050and 48000.
When I send it two channel output at a sampling rate of 44100, the
result includes what sounds like skips,

alsa09 driver updated
I updated the alsa09 driver. Specifically:
- ripped out the ugly internal buffering. there's no need for this, and
i'm pretty sure it was cut&pasted out of the alsa05 driver.
- tweaked the default periodsize and number of periods. on my ibook,
the values were too high. my card doesn't have that much buffer.
what is there now should work on more systems, and also should

libao 0.8.4 released
(Hi, this isn't exactly vorbis related, but I figure most of you use
libao with ogg123.)
Libao 0.8.4 has been released today. It's mostly a bug-fix release, but
has some new drivers too! We've also moved libao to it's own website:
http://www.xiph.org/ao/
Source, RPMS for RedHat 9, and Debian packages are there. Enjoy!

endian problems with AIFF and WAV
I have a test program that loads an AIFF or WAV file with libsndfile and
plays then using libao. After running around in circles for a while, I
found and fixed the problem, but I'm still confused as to why the solution
works. Would someone please explain this to me so I don't trip over this
again later in my project?
I used sf_open_fd() to get a SNDFILE* pointer and an AF_INFO
