copying an ogg stream
dear list,
i am trying to write a small program which reads an ogg file and writes
it to another ogg file (and changes serial number, granulepos etc on the
fly).
reading the ogg file is ok (ogg_sync_pageout, ogg_stream_pagein,
ogg_stream_packetout). but writing the file doesn't work - the
granulepos and page structures don't match with the original file.
here's what i am doing.

cheap way of getting number of frames in an ogg_page?
Hi,
i just wonder if there's a cheap way of getting the number of oggVorbis
pcm frames in an ogg_page, without actually decoding it?
Can i use the granulepos of the page, substract the granulepos of the
previous page? is this always guaranteed to work?
thanks,
Chris

ogg_stream_pageout function...
I write this small piece of code, that get pixels and encode them:
ogg_page page;
ogg_packet packet;
m_frameSource.getYUVBits(m_buffer.y, m_buffer.u, m_buffer.v);
theora_encode_YUVin(&m_encoder, &m_buffer);
while(theora_encode_packetout(&m_encoder, isLastFrame, &packet))
ogg_stream_packetin(&m_oggStream, &packet);

By design or a bug?
Happy new millenium!
Summary: I'm having a problem queueing up the ogg_packet results of
vorbis_analyze() for later writing to an .ogg stream. The docs don't seem
to say if this is permissable or not. Hence, I don't know if I'm using
the API incorrectly, or if this is an actual bug.

Attached is a short patch to vorbis-tools/oggenc/encode.c (from CVS head,

A few questions how to use libogg
1.) after initializing a ogg_stream_state may I just keep calling
ogg_stream_packetin with valid ogg_packet's until no more ogg_packets
needs to be added? Or do I need to call ogg_stream_pageout after every
ogg_stream_packetin? Iaw may I delay calling ogg_stream_pageout until
there are no more packets to be added?
2.) I assume I have call ogg_stream_pageout until no more pages can be

Simple encodig sample...
Hi all.
I'm Mat & I'm new :)
I'm testing libtheora + libogg perhaps for a commercial product.
I started watching encoder_example.c ... I simplified it for testing
it easier.
It seems ok to me but I have no experience with theora so I would like
to know if my code is correct.
I tried to debug it with Valgrind and I found 4 possible memory leaks...
but I think they can be

Trying to do windows encoding dll
Hi everybody, me again.
I'm trying to write my own VFW-like dll... It doesn't need to do much.
1.) compress a single frame and give it back to the host application
2.) host applications sends the frame
3.) client application receives frame
4.) client application tells the dll to decompress the data
So if I try to do this, something is going wrong...
Perhaps someone could have a look at my

V4L + Theora small app...
Hi all.
I post a small app I made that create 2 clips using a V4L device.
I would like to get every tips you think it's useful...
Some notes:
- I make 2 clips because in our project we create series of clips and
it's important to check that the all the resources ( memory,
descriptors, etc. ) are freed correctly and to reuse all the resources
that can be reused
- the clips are not well

ogg_stream_flush
Hi,
While building an ogg-vorbis stream encoder, I encountered some problems
with silence in the audiostream.
The bitrate drops to almost zero, and pages going out less then ones a
minute what makes the stream to stop / buffer.
In earlier postings I read that I shout use ogg_stream_flush as an
alternative to ogg_stream_pageout, in case of silence.
My question is this; Is there any

packetno, granulepos, streaming and framing
Hi
While implementing OSS Ogg/Vorbis encoding and streaming using RTP/RTCP
for both unicast and multicast, I have come across a few issues I need
to clear out regarding the numbering of ogg_packets and their granulepos
value. Below are the result for two different scenarios.
<p>In the first scenario, ogg_packets are generated using
a) vorbis_analysis_headerout()

Ogg in MP4 file, Unexpected result from _vorbis_unpack_books
Hi.
I'm trying to implement Ogg/Vorbis support for the MPEG4IP project.
The goal is to support Ogg/Vorbis audio for MPEG-4 streaming.
So far I have managed to make the encoder save Ogg packets as an Audio
object in an .mp4 file. As a side effect, it can also save Ogg pages in
an .ogg file playable by xmms, but that's no big deal.
So what I'm doing is this. First the init part.

metadata switches for ffmpeg2theora
Jan,
Here's a hacky patch to add a few commandline options for setting
comment header fields in ffmpeg2theora. It's a bit big because I
virtualized the global info struct in theorautils.c. In retrospect
that probably wasn't necessary, but I think it's cleaner anyway.
I didn't test it because I couldn't compile ffmpeg2theora, but
modulo bugs it should support

Why does this code not generate a valid opus file?
Hi.
I assume that I am deeply stupid and have missed something obvious, but why does this bare-bones code not generate a valid (If trivial) opus file?
Running opusinfo I ge the following which I interpret this to mean that not even the first packet gets a pass:
New logical stream (#1, serial: 1f0cce42): type opus
WARNING: Could not decode Opus header packet 0 - invalid Opus stream (1)

Vorbis primitive API examples (LONG)
Okay, how do I drop a changeset/patchset/tag for you folks from SVN?
At this point, I have written three examples of how to use the basics of
the ogg streaming and decoding in Tremor. I heartily welcome any
suggestions, improvements and corrections that you can point out in the
code.
The examples required me to make some small modifications to the main
tremor library. However, the changes

any help with pyogg and pyvorbis?
Dear List,
I'm just creating a little application for my openmoko freerunner,
unfortunately in python, so that I have to use pyogg and
pyvorbis(http://ekyo.nerim.net/software/pyogg/index.html) as wrappers
around the C-functions and objects.
I've got it all installed, after applying some patches and trying to run
an example of encoding a wave-file I just get an empty ogg-file, the

unable to compile speex-1.1.10
Dear all,
I'm Arun, new in this group. and newbie in Linux also.
I am working on linphone and I want to compile linphone, but before that I
want to compile speex-1.1.10 for uClinux using bfin-gcc.
I used these three files :
uClinux-dist-2005R3.tar.bz2
bfin-gcc-3.4-2005R3.1.tar.gz
speex-1.1.10.tar
I sucessfully compiled and installed bfin-gcc, and

ogg encoding
I was wondering. When doing ogg only encoding, how do you mark end of
stream? I am setting ogg_packet.e_o_s and then submitting it via
ogg_stream_packetin() and then, because
its the last potential page ogg_stream_flush()ing it. But when I walk
through the file, EOS is not set on that logical bitstream. I have been
using oggenc.c/encoder.c and oggdec.c/decoder.c for examples, but because
